Welcome: Hello everyone, and a big welcome to all our new
subscribers. This ezine mainly focuses on informational
products and marketing.  It is my intention to give you tips,
ideas, product reviews and articles by well respected people,
who make their living on-line.  I hope you find the information
both useful and informative and that you are
able to put them into practice. I wish you all the success with
your ventures and if there is anything that you would
like to discuss simply e-mail to:
DEREK@darchibald.freeserve.co.uk and I'll be happy to help.

You may recall that I mentioned my wife Irene was off to Dublin
to sing at an audition for a new television show here in the UK,
called the X Factor.  Well I'm very proud and pleased to tell you
all that she made the finals and sang her little heart out to
judges Simon Cowell, Sharron Osbourne and her ex manager Louis
Walsh from Westlife fame.

In My Opinion:
Step 1 - How To Select the Right Products.

One of the keys to selecting or creating the right line of high-
profit products for your postal business is to match them with
the trends taking place.  So before we take a look at the
products I suggest you market, let??™s take a look at this very
important element in business success.

Something which by the way, is also not really covered in other
publications about the mail-order or direct marketing business.

Most people totally overlook the trends and just jump into any
business without much thought as to where it will take them.
This is why they invariably find themselves even more entrapped
than ever.  Make sure that doesn't happen to you.  Why make life
difficult for yourself?

Being a free-spirited entrepreneur and being your own boss are
two totally different things.  One could provide you with freedom
and real wealth, the other remember, is just another term for a
job (in most cases).

So if you are thinking of particular products you want to sell
at this moment. STOP! DON'T DO ANYTHING JUST
YET!

At least not until you've read about some of the trends taking
place which should have an impact on the type of products you
finally choose to market .  Only then consider
your ideas in light of what I am about to say. Look At The
World??™s General Trends

There are, of course, many different trends from which you could
capitalise upon. However, one of the quickest ways to make a
profit is to choose a product line which you can market to a very
particular group of people.  Who are they?  Well we'll tell you
in a moment, but first let??™s very quickly look at the general
global upward trends which are going to be dominant in the future
(listed in no particular order):

Health & Fitness
Communication/Telecommunications
Networking
Technology/Computers/Multimedia/Virtual Reality
Software
Digital Technology
Investment
Information, Knowledge/Education
Services
Electronic Cash
Entertainment
Leisure
Internet

These are the industries that will be booming over the years
ahead.  However, most of those trends listed above are related
and within each one there are many, many different types of
businesses which you can operate.

For example, entertainment is a general upward trend which has a
multitude of facets.  Which is why you still have to choose
carefully by matching these general trends with two specific
Megatrends that we'll look at in a moment.

You may be interested in taking up a video rental franchise for
instance, that would be classified as being in the entertainment
category.  However, a closer look at specific trends would reveal
that such a move would be wrong because that??™s likely to become a
dying industry.

Capitalising Upon The Megatrends

Understanding the world??™s Megatrends will help you to very
quickly spot product lines where the highest profits exists.  Or
enable you to adapt your current products to fit these trends.

Let??™s take a look at the two major Megatrends emerging in the
world today:

Megatrend 1: Globalization

The world is certainly becoming a smaller place.  The move is
towards complete globalization in business.  In the future the
free-spirited entrepreneur will have to be involved in
products/services which he can trade globally.

The Internet is driving us even further down the globalization
road, together with digital technology, communicational
advancements and electronic money.  Therefore, any combination of
products which could be considered to be under the globalization
umbrella, offers an individual huge financial possibilities.

Megatrend 2: Cocooning

This is one of the newest trends which will last long into the
next century.  People are moving away from cities in their
droves.  Office blocks which once housed hundreds of employees
are laying empty.  The whole face of society and the workplace is
changing.

The trend indicates that people will do more from their homes and
venture less from their base (for most tasks)  than at any other
time in history.  In essence, they are creating their own self-
contained cocoons.

They'll shop from home using their digital TV??™s and the Internet.
They'll work from home.  They'll communicate face-to-face with
people the world over, without ever getting out of their
armchair.  They'll bank from home.  They'll use super fast Email
rather than conventional post.  In fact, with virtually
everything you do now, it will be possible to do from your home
in the very near future.

Cocooning and Globalization ... that??™s the future.  Creating or
sourcing products to match these two Megatrends is where money
really is.  With simple products which reflect these trends, you
can ensure that you lead a very comfortable lifestyle for the
rest of your life.

The Best Product Line To Profit From These Trends
Is The World??™s Hottest And Most Desired Commodity

So what kind of  products are best suited to the trends
we've talked about?  To decide this (in the way I do), you really
want to consider a number of factors:

You want to deal in products which carry
very high profit margins
You want products which are easy to source
or create
You want to keep your overheads extremely
Low

Which is why I suggest you trade in the world??™s hottest
commodity.  A commodity which is already helping people to enjoy
extremely comfortable lifestyles.  That commodity is:

INFORMATION

There is just nothing to compare.  No other commodity better
reflects the Megatrends that are beginning to dominate the world.
And over the next few pages you are going to discover just how
you can carve out a very comfortable living for yourself from
information.

A very precise way to profit from this
commodity
Which information products to trade in
Where and how to source an almost endless
stream of information products

How to very easily create your own unique
products..and how selling on the rights to
these could make
you a fortune
Every information commodity that you trade in can
be simply plugged straight into the system.  Nothing ever
changes.

However, before I continue let me briefly remind you that the
system can be applied to any product/service that you market and
not just information.  Don??™t forget this.  It??™s just that
information trading is one of the easiest and most profitable
businesses in the world.
Deciding Which Information Product To Market

The first step you need to take is to decide which type of
information commodity you want to trade in and how, and where, to
source/create it.

The thing to appreciate is that you do not have to be an expert
or even know anything about the information you'll be trading in.
Remember, you are only trading in the information, so it isn't
necessary to personally possess the knowledge contained in the
information you market.

If you have a list of people really, really interested in
breeding earthworms, for example, and you have information on how
they can do this - bingo - you have a business. It doesn't matter
if you have no interest in earthworms.

Experts rarely make fortunes ... it is those who know how
to profitably disseminate information who make the money

Secondly, you'll be astounded at how remarkably easy information
is to source.  The possibilities are almost infinite.  And you
can package that information in so many different ways.  There
are, of course, thousands of subject areas from which you'll be
able to fashion a good living.

The following list represents the main requirements that your
product should fulfil. The more categories that your particular
information product addresses, the more successful you are likely
to be.

In fact, if I could sum up the real key to success in one word,
it??™s SOLUTIONS.  If your information product provides a person
with solutions, you'll make money.  So as you study the following
list think of how you can provide solutions which address these
categories.
More Money              A Better Speaker
Greater Freedom       Charisma
Better Health            Power
A Better Lifestyle      More Control in
Their Life
Financial Security     High Self-
Confidence
Enjoyment                Direction
More Leisure Time     Purpose
Respect                    Happiness
Greater Popularity     To Travel
Business Advancement  More Energy
Better Looking          A Better
Job/Career
Younger Looking       Improve Their Memory
Improve Relationships Increase Their Knowledge

By helping others get what they want, you cannot help but get
exactly what you want in life - it??™s inevitable. If you want to
trade profitably,  you must market a product/service which
fulfills these needs.

Fulfil Basic Human Desires - Evoke Emotion

It??™s not too difficult to come up with a good product. Just read
the papers, look in targeted magazines, read the advertisements,
see what others are marketing, pay a visit to the reference
library.  The subject matter is enormous, and you can really make
your money from anything out there.

Next week we'll take a look at the second step of your system;
constructing marketing copy.

Does the thought of starting your own on-line business get you
down, it certainly has for me but then that??™s what life is all
about.

Why I Love the Internet Lifestyle by Les Sheppard
For most people involved in business online, it??™s the freedom
they crave rather than the financial rewards. I'm not saying that
money isn't important, of course we all need to feed our
families, but the ability to decide when and where I work is the
driving force behind my business, and the reason I left my
corporate job behind.

On a typical day I may get into gear around 7.30am (I like to
think I have a fairly decent work ethic!) and the journey to work
is along a hallway to my office, which is in a separate part of
the building from our apartment on the seafront. I am always keen
to look at my overnight web stats, check Clickbank and my
merchant account to see how much we've made, and work out the
product requirements for that day. I usually like to take my
youngest kids to school, before returning to the desk for a
couple of hour??™s research online. After a walk along the seafront
around midday I may take a light lunch with my wife, before
completing the working day with the few admin tasks necessary to
keep us on track. Living by the sea is a perfect environment for
creativity, and my 4 year old loves the beach (and the Fun Fair
that??™s 30 metres from our door!).

If I do anything during the evenings, or weekends, it is almost
always related to personal or skill development (another feature
of our business) leaving me plenty of time to spend with Karen
and the kids.
You see, I like a bit of routine but it doesn't have to be that
way. Some of my associates work late into the evening by
preference, but that??™s not for me. But if I had a 9 to 5 job I
couldn't decide these things for myself. They would tell me when
to be at work, and when to finish. Also when I can take holidays,
how much I can earn, and even relocate me to live within
acceptable distance of an office.

For us, all these things are now decided by family preferences
and fit within a lifestyle that we control.
Over the last couple of years we decided we wanted to travel
more. I am able to run my business from a single laptop computer,
keeping in touch with activity from wherever I can access a phone
line.

In 2003 we visited the Canary Islands, Dublin twice (once on
business), San Francisco, New York, Antigua and Minorca. This
year, so far, we have travelled to the Dominican Republic,
Rhodes, Edinburgh and Rome with more trips in the planning stages
for late 2004.

All this time the orders keep coming in. Many of our products are
digitally delivered, so I can automate a large percentage of the
routine activity from anywhere in the world.
But I do like to keep in touch with clients as much as possible,
mostly by email, and occasionally by phone with my coaching
clients.
I conduct a few workshop events every year (the offline face of
the business) because I enjoy face to face contact with people. I
find that this keeps my feet on the ground, with the challenge of
teaching beginners particularly rewarding. But truly, if I didn't
want to do this..no problem.
I'm also keen on multiple uses of material, so an article like
this will appear on my website, go into an email autoresponder to
aid distribution, be launched to all the main search engines and
appear on article submission sites like Lifestyle Publishing.
Sincerely, I don't tell you all this with any smugness. I am a
really ordinary guy who happens to love the lifestyle the
internet is allowing me to develop.

This lifestyle is driven by sound business practices, automated
product delivery, and sensible use of resources. We don't spend a
fortune on advertising, relying on developing high quality, long
term, relationships with our customers  who then recommend our
services to others. The focus is on providing sound solutions,
some of the best value for money in our market, coupled with a
mentoring approach that suits my personal style. I don't often
jump on anything too new, or unproven, to protect the reputation
for common sense we've developed over the last few years.
Whilst we have a few income streams, the best autopilot services
working for us at the moment are:
eBooks and information products:

I frequently buy up the resell rights to attractive products (at
low prices) and market them to our client list. I also use
Google Adwords to attract customers, using a technique I teach
in my workshop events. Some of this information is highly
specialised, and appeals to very tight niche markets that are
researched in advance using the Overture Inventory tool. All of
these products are digitally delivered, using Clickbank as the
payment / delivery tool (extremely reliable).

Software Downloads:
We have the distribution rights to a number of software
applications, some of them for purchase outright, some attracting
a monthly service fee. The distribution method is similar to
above, but I use a merchant account to cope with the recurring
billing. I also offer reseller rights to some of these products,
through an affiliate scheme.
The real point of my message is to encourage anyone considering
an online venture. The dot com lunacy of the late nineties is
over for good, but real people are making a decent living online
today. Any business requires persistence and tenacity, especially
at the outset, and so many give up just at the point of a
breakthrough. Focus on the lifestyle you want to build. The more
reasons you have to be successful, the more your chances will
increase.
Finally, as the recipient of this message, however you found it,
please feel free to use the material for your website, client
list, newsletter etc  keeping the URL intact.

Your Thought for the Week:

First say to yourself what would you be; and then do what you
have to do.  If you think you can win, you can win, faith is
necessary to victory.
