Acting on retailer suggestions, Diamond has improved the Order History function of its Previews on Windows (POW) program, which provides Diamond customers with an easy, online method of placing their monthly initial orders. Previously, the Order History function was only available on a limited number of products, primarily those produced by major vendors. With the improvements, the Order History function can now be used on a broader range of merchandise and publishers. This makes it easier than ever for retailers to keep track of their initial order totals for a specific product, or previous issues of a specific title in the case of comics and magazines. Diamond started to implement these improvements with items solicited in the September Previews, and completed the process with items solicited in the November Previews. As a result of these and other ongoing improvements to Diamond's inventory systems, and effective with POW's September order form, the Order History function can no longer access orders placed prior to September 2004. However, retailers who wish to examine their orders prior to that date can do so by selecting the "Order Entry" option from the "Ordering" tab on POW's main menu, then choosing the August 2004 order form or earlier. Once the order form is loaded, find the product or series title in question, and follow the Order History instructions provided below. On August 2004 order forms and older, the Order History function will not display initial orders placed prior to a user's first POW order. (For example, if you placed your first POW order in January 2003, you will be able to access all orders from that month through August 2004 when running an Order History search with the August 2004 order form.) Please Note: The Order History function is accessible via POW's Order Entry screen. To use it, highlight a product on the POW order form, then click the "History" button on the right-hand side of the screen. You will then be asked whether or not to include Series History. Selecting "No" will only show your initial orders for a specific product (i.e., a statue). Selecting "Yes" will show your initial orders on previous issues of a comics or magazine series (i.e., if the current month's issue is #265, selecting "Yes" on Series History will display your initial orders for issue #264 and lower).
