Joe Casey: The Secret to Writing Superheroes Joe summed up the secret in two words: Originality and Unoriginality. Stating he had been both. Originality would make you a cult writer and being unoriginal would make you a hack writer. A combo of the too would be the secret to being a great writer. Know what's works on a given character, know the source material and then make it original again. He came to this conclusion while working on Uncanny X-Men while Grant Morrison was doing New X-Men. Joe stated that the trend in the comic's field now is to do independent work to get noticed and picked up by the big three. Joe in referring to his new comic The Intimates mentioned that he had 6 issues in the can already. Goyer says that Morbieus was going to be the character Nomad in Blade 2, but Marvel wanted to use Morbieus in a movie of his own. Goyer says that the character of Abigail replaced the character of Frank Drake. The change was did because of the writing need for a contrasting strong female character in the movie. Ryan Reynolds' future works will be an Amityville Horror remake and then a romantic comedy. Jessica Biel has no plans to do any comic book related movies. She hasn't even been in talks about such movies outside of Nightstalkers. David Goyer and Ryan Reynolds have talked about a Deadpool movie. There's some major changes in terms of origin, but less that what they did in Ultimate FF, and besides, c'mon-- four people trying to get to the moon before the Russians? Just a TAD dated. Goyer added, "as a director, [I need] a blockbuster before I'll have the clout to be able to pull it off, and I'm hoping Blade Trinity will be the one." Goyer called the film "a story within a story within a story. ... It really plays with the audience's expectations," and he compared it to Usual Suspects. Goyer is also one of the producers of a film version of Y: The Last Man. Jeff Vintar is writing the script. "We just got our first draft in. It's very good, and he's embarking on a rewrite."
