A Series of Unfortunate Events comics

On Newsstands December 14th, 2004 Nickelodeon Magazine presents the
Series of Unfortunate Events Official movie magazine.
It features a 38-page comics adaptation of the blockuster film
starring Jim Carrey, based on a the NY Times bestselling novels
of the same name.

The comic adaptation is illustrated by Sam Hiti, the 29-year-old
artist, who made a splash this summer with the debut of his Xeric
Award winning graphic novel, "End Times/Tiempos Finales."  One of
the biggest buzz books of 2004, Mike Mignola, creator of the cult
favorite "Hellboy," said he "freaked out" when he met the mild-
mannered Hiti at a comics convention in San Diego and considers
"End Times" the best graphic novel of the year.

Sam was able to bring his own dynamic visual sensibility to the
world of Lemony Snicket, creating a balance between what has come
before and his own distinct take on the characters and settings.
The Series of Unfortunate Events have built a reputation for
being obsessively bleak, but at the same time being delightfully
funny, linguistically playful books reminiscent of Roald Dahl,
Charles Dickens, and Edward Gorey. And the movie features amazing
production designs by Rick Heinrichs (Sleepy Hollow) which
offered plenty of great inspiration for the comic.

Larger mysteries lurk in the magazine's pages. In the spirit of
the book series, there are cryptic messages, puzzles, and secret
codes. Take for instance the seemingly innocent bonus comic drawn
by Jay Stephens (Jet Cat) that is "written" by Dr. Gustav Sebald,
a noted expert in cryptography (that's secret codes to you and
me).

The magazine also features an interview with the elusive Lemony
Snicket and his assistant Daniel Handler, limited edition trading
cards, a pullout playbill, and a behind-the-scenes look at Jim
Carrey's transformation into Count Olaf.

If you are miserable and would like to remain so, do not pass
this magazine up. It is not for readers who enjoy periodicals
filled with happy little elves. The cover itself warns "Do not
but this magazine!" - a phrase which here means "By all means,
buy this magazine if you want to enjoy the wit and woe of the
Lemony Snicket universe."

MEDIEVAL LADY DEATH RETURNS!
12/14/04

Medieval Lady Death, the popular fantasy character first launched
at CrossGen Entertainment rises like a phoenix out of the ashes
and returns to comic shops across the globe this February
courtesy of Avatar Press and creator/writer Brian Pulido.

The new monthly, all-ages series picks up where Lady Death: A
Medieval Tale left off. "Imagine the mood and tone of Lord of The
Rings, but picture the main (anti)-heroine a powerful, pale
skinned woman and her enemies ancient, magical beings called The
Eldritch who use spells to thwart human warrior knights," says
creator Brian Pulido. "Humanity's last hope for survival is Lady
Death, an outcast who is half-human, half-Eldritch, and all
attitude. She is part of both clans, but belongs to neither.
Bearing the sword of vengeance Lady Death roams the medieval
realms protecting the very people who fear her."

Though Avatar Press is known for publishing edgy material by top
creators like Garth Ennis, Alan Moore, Mark Millar, Frank Miller
and Warren Ellis, Medieval Lady Death will be an all-ages comic.
"This series continues with the same characters, mood and tone,"
says Pulido. "We are very aware of the Medieval Lady Death fan
base and what their tastes are and we won't change this Lady
Death one iota. She aspires to a heroic ideal and we won't change
that. I love writing her adventures and I think my passion bleeds
onto the page.  I invite fans of Sojourn and Lady Death: a
Medieval Tale to jump on board.

Sometimes it's confusing for readers to start a new series, but
Pulido is prepared for that.  "We are being careful to make this
a good jumping on point for new readers," he says.  "To assure
this, we've hired Barbara Kesel as editor.  Barbara was my editor
on Lady Death: a Medieval Tale. She knows the characters as well
as I do and she is the secret weapon to the success of the
series".

Joining Pulido as artist is hot new illustrator Di Amorim for the
first four issues. Art teams will rotate every four issues to
maintain the monthly schedule. Issues 5 to 8 will be illustrated
by Wellington Alves.  Both artists are careful to maintain the
style and feel of the original Ivan Reis work.  All issues will
be colored by Greg Waller of Nimbus Studios.

To enhance the series launch legendary creator George Perez has
contributed a premium edition cover, which will be auctioned off
by Heritage auctions in late February to benefit the CBLDF.

The series launch is supported by a special promotional poster
going out to retailers all over the country soon as well as house
ads and magazine ads.

Brian Pulido's MEDIEVAL LADY DEATH #1 is a full color, monthly
on-going series. Cover Price: $3.99 US. Readership: All ages

PLATINUM STUDIOS AND RELATIVITY MANAGEMENT SELECT THE SHOP TO
DEVELOP FIRST COMPUTER-ANIMATED THRILLER

World's Best Selling Horror Comic Book, "Dylan Dog" to be Adapted
for Full-Length Animated Feature Film

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

LOS ANGELES / VANCOUVER - (December 15, 2004) - Platinum
Studios, an entertainment company that controls the world's
largest independent library of comic book characters, and
Relativity Management, one of Hollywood's leading talent
management firms, have selected The Shop Animation Studios, an
innovative feature- film production company specializing in
computer-animation to develop and co-produce "Dylan Dog: The
Fourth Kingdom". The feature film, which is based on the Italian
comic book series "Dylan Dog", will be the first computer
animated thriller.

Relativity is concluding foreign sales components for the film,
with discussions underway with different domestic studios for
distribution.  The film is scheduled to start production in March
2005 at The Shop in Vancouver.

"The Shop knows how to push boundaries on both style and
efficiency -- a very rare combination," said Scott Mitchell
Rosenberg, chairman of Platinum Studios which includes "Dylan
Dog" in its vast library of titles. "With The Shop as our
theatrical animation partners, starting with Dylan, we have the
resources to brand our characters worldwide by utilizing our
digital assets for games, licensing and all other media."

Ian Pearson, co-founder of The Shop, will direct, based on a
script he co-wrote with long-time creative partner Gavin Blair.
This is Pearson's first major creative endeavor since stepping
down as the president and CEO of Mainframe Entertainment, where
he created and/or produced such award-winning projects as
"Reboot," "Barbie in the Nutcracker," "Action Man," "War Planets"
and "Weird-Ohs."

"For years I've been trying to find the right character to tell a
more mature story using animation and Dylan Dog is the perfect
vehicle," said Pearson.  "Although it has a lot of humor, Dylan
is a much darker animated feature. It will surprise the animation
audience."

"Dylan Dog: The Fourth Kingdom" follows the latest case of Dylan
Dog, an investigator of nightmares. Dylan must stop a
supernatural serial killer intent on becoming a new deity and
ruler of "The Fourth Kingdom," a new afterlife. If Dylan fails,
the current love of his life will die and the forces of heaven
and hell may unleash Armageddon upon the Earth. The Shop's
president and co-founder, Aaron L. Gilbert, and Rosenberg are
producing, with Ryan Kavanaugh, Relativity's CEO, serving as
executive producer with Ervin Rustemagic.

"Dylan is one of those rare opportunities when a project has
global commercial appeal and a unique story," said Kavanaugh. "It
is perhaps one of the most well branded properties in the world
and Pearson and Blair have written a compelling story which
combined with The Shop's production and technical team, we will
deliver a stunning film unlike any other animated feature for
audiences around the world."

Created by Tiziano Sclavi, "Dylan Dog", has sold more than 80
million copies worldwide since its debut in 1985. The comic from
the Platinum Studios library, is part of Italian publisher
Bonelli Editore's universe of characters, which combined have
amassed sales of several hundred million dollars worldwide.

"We created The Shop to make computer-animation accessible to a
broader audience," said Gilbert.  "It's time to go in different
directions with the stories being told.  Starting with Dylan Dog,
we are targeting a more mature, visually literate audience, and
providing content for the gamer generation."
