SUBMISSIONS
-----------
To submit an article, review, column, etc. to our Emag, simply
Email it to the editor at: ComicBkNet@aol.com   You must include
your REAL name and a valid Email address in order to be published
in this Emag. Sorry, we do not accept anonymous columns.  The
weekly deadline is 7:00 PM Eastern Time on Thursday - NO
EXCEPTIONS!  Late submissions are held over for the following
week.

Reviews of mainstream books are welcome and we encourage reviews
of indies and self published material as we feel that material
deserves more exposure to the general public.  If you write
intelligent, coherent, and timely reviews of any comic book it
will almost always be printed, so give us a shot.

Commentary on the state of the industry, and personal
observations and reflections related to comics are *most* likely
to be included in our publication.

PLEASE, no material on gaming, non-comic derived media, role
playing, collectible card games, Anime or other hobbies or
collectibles other than comic books. That also includes plugs for
web comics and web pages UNLESS they are concerned with print
comic books.  We do not promote web comics per se, only the
printed media.

SEND US YOUR WORK
-----------------
We also accept product for review purposes.  Advanced copies of
comic books will not be returned but any comic books sent to us
*will* be reviewed in the ComicBook Net Emag in the column MY
VIEW. Send material to be reviewed to:

David L. LeBlanc
84 Heather Circle
Jefferson, MA  01522-1419

Material is generally reviewed in the order received and be
advised that we work a few weeks in advance so your review may
not be in the magazine immediately.  Advanced copies are
therefore encouraged so the review will occur prior to your
product hitting the stores.

[1] On the Net                                      David LeBlanc
                                               ComicBkNet@aol.com

Summer is over, well not officially. In fact warm weather is
still upon us as we approach the Autumnal Equinox and the days
grow shorter. Fall has got to be the best time of the year, what
with the World Series, NFL games, the turning of the leaves and
the cooler temperatures I thrive on. For some the start of the
new television season is the highlight of September. I admit I
look for the return of some favorites too.

But of course the comics are the most entertaining. In a few
weeks we will see if DC can produce a series worth the hype. Some
of the rumors about what comes after make me more anxious to read
"52" than INFINITE CRISIS. Meanwhile, I'll slide into another
season with the latest comics on the racks, if I find time to
read them . . .

DC COMICS
    Outsiders #28, $2.50
    Seven Soldiers Guardian #4 (Of 4), $2.99
    Supergirl #1 Second Ptg, $2.99
    Villains United #5 (Of 6), $2.50

IDW PUBLISHING
Mars IDW TPB, $39.99 <---------------Pick of the Week!

IMAGE COMICS
    City Of Heroes #5, $2.99
    Fell #1, $1.99
    Pvp #18, $2.99
Rising Stars Voices Of The Dead #4 (Of 6), $2.99

MARVEL COMICS
    Exiles #69, $2.99
    Ultimate Spider-Man #82, $2.50

It is not often I pick a graphic novel as the top pick but I read
this series in the original format and it is a great story. Check
it out!

Creators & Publishers
If you're a comic book creator or publisher who wants to help
those in need, you can donate signed comics, original artwork
(pages, covers, sketches, paintings, etc.), signed scripts, etc.

Retailers & Fans
That's right! Retailers and fans can also provide a helping hand!
Join BF's Katrina relieve effort by donating trade paperbacks,
sets of comics or single issues from your retail stores or
private collections.

How does this work?
Like any other auction BF has held in the past, everyone who
agrees to participate keeps their donations in their possession
until after the auctions have ended. Everyone can send scans of
their donations (along with a suggested opening bid price, and if
necessary, a reserve price) directly to Frederik Hautain at
frederik@brokenfrontier.com. You are also welcome to post the
info directly in the Hurricane Katrina Charity thread
 http://www.brokenfrontier.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=12182  on
the BF message boards. In the first post of that thread, an
overview of all donations, together with links to the
respective eBay auctions, will be compiled.

Payment
Winning bidders have to send all funds (in USD) to BF's Paypal
account linked to Frederik Hautain's eBay user name. Once the
auctions are over, Frederik will donate the total amount
generated to the American Red Cross. A copy of the invoice will
be posted in the Hurricane Katrina Charity thread on the BF
message boards to ensure every participant involved that 100% of
the funds raised are sent to the American Red Cross.

The victims of Hurricane Katrina need our help! Participate now!

Fans, retailers, creators or publishers that would like to help
out but do not want to participate in any of the charity auctions
are strongly urged to consider making a secure online donation to
benefit the American Red Cross at
http://www.redcross.org/donate/donate.html or by calling 1-800-
HELP NOW. Contributions to the Disaster Relief Fund may also be
sent to your local American Red Cross chapter or to the American

The Big Apple Con Announces SPECIAL NEW GUESTS & the Upcoming
Sept 10-11 PANEL SCHEDULE....

Special New Comic Creators:

BASIL GOGOS - To many fans of classic horror movies, the name
Basil Gogos is as familiar as that of Boris Karloff, Bela Lugosi
or Vincent Price. Gogos' paintings are as iconic as his subjects.
The "monster craze" among baby-boomers, sparked by the release of
Universal Studios' horror classics to television in the late
'50s, gave birth to a new phenomenon - the monster magazine.
Famous Monsters of Filmland, filled with monster photos and
articles on horror movies and their stars, was the premier
publication for young horror film fans. Issues of the new
magazine practically leapt off the newsstand shelves and into
kids' hands due in no small way to their striking cover paintings
by Basil Gogos. Like a Bizarro world Norman Rockwell, his stylish
portraits of horror film characters and stars were seen on
magazine covers throughout the '60s and '70s. Gogos'
interpretations of movie monsters like Frankenstein, The Creature
from the Black Lagoon, and the Phantom of the Opera, breathe
d new life into the old black and white images. His amazing use
of color and bold, impressionistic brushwork gave a sense of both
excitement and sophistication to his paintings which has never
been matched. Gogos' legend as the world's greatest movie monster
artist has only grown over the years. His original Famous
Monsters cover paintings are highly sought-after and are in the
collections of many filmmakers and rock stars on whom he made a
lasting impression. In recent years he has been in much demand by
producers wishing to capture the unforgettable look and feel of
the classic monster art of the '60s. CD and DVD covers, movie
posters, trading cards, book covers and new monster magazines
continue to keep Basil Gogos the world's greatest monster artist.

KERRY GAMMILL - Kerry Gammill has drawn a number of books for
both Marvel and DC. Gammill has drawn many characters including
Superman, Supergirl, Teen Titans and Indiana Jones. He also
illustrated one Star Wars story and he did a lot of work as a
conceptual artist for top film and television projects. He is
currently working on an issue of the 'Avengers' for Marvel. He
also has a comprehensive art book coming out that showcases his
design work for monsters in the movies.

IRWIN HASEN - Irwin Hasen started his cartooning career in the
late 1930s. He first drew sports cartoons and did advertising
artwork. Hasen went into comic books in 1940, working on such
titles as 'The Green Hornet', 'The Fox', 'Green Lantern' and 'The
Flash'. In the same period he created the short-lived 'Citizen
Smith, Son of the Unknown Soldier'.Discharged from the army in
1946, Hasen went back to doing more comic book work. For National
Periodicals, Irwin Hasen drew, among other features, 'Johnny
Thunder' and 'The Justice League of America'. In the 1950s Hasen
became active in the National Cartoonists Society. On a tour in
Europe he met Gus Edson and they collaborated on 'Dondi' in 1955.
It was discontinued in 1986, and Hasen went into semi-retirement.

Media Guests:

CHRIS WHITE  - Writer/Director whose award winning short film
"Quiet"  is currently getting heavy monthly rotation on HBO and
Cinemax. White directed the short film  Confessions" which has
been soaring up the ranks to #1 on www.ifilm.com.  He recently
finished adapting the critically acclaimed book "Iced" by
RayShells into a screenplay for acclaimed producer Lee Daniels
(Monster'sBall and The Woodsman).Which is one of Lee's next
projects to bring to the big screen. White's latest project is
the gritty hardcore horror/thriller "Last Stop"which is a
seriously twisted take on the blackmarket organ jacking ring and
can be best described as Alice in Wonderland on some serious
acid.  There is a storyboarded teaser trailer viewable at the
official site www.laststopthemovie.com.

CHARLES ROSS  (10A-2P SAT & SUN) Best known as the mastermind
behind the infamous One Man Star Wars Trilogy and One Man Lord of
the Rings, Charles Ross is a Canadian actor who has followed his
heart and his career from one side of the continent to the other.
Since first performing his One Man Star Wars Trilogy in Toronto,
Ontario in January of 2001, Ross has brought countless audiences,
both large and small, to their feet with his surprisingly unique
shows. Word of Ross's one of a kind talent has spread across
North America, from Toronto, Orlando, Atlanta, and Boston, to
Chicago, San Diego, and Vancouver. To mark the release of Star
Wars: Episode 3: Revenge of the Sith, Charles was honored to
perform at Lucasfilm's official movie release convention,
