SPOILER WARNING:
THE FOLLOWING COLUMN MAY REVEAL SIGNIFICANT PORTIONS OF THE PLOTS
OF SOME COMIC BOOKS, OR THE ENTIRE STORY. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.

MOE Sidenote:  Went into A1 Comics and walked through the A1
Comics Stargate and came across these realities: Fell #1 by
Image; Mega City 909 #8 by DDP; Oz the Manga #3 Aug 05; Sea of
Red #4 by Image; Rex Mundi #14 by Image; Shocking Gun Tales! by
Cellar Door Publishing; Jack Cross #1 by DC; Johnny Raygun #6 by
Jetpack Press; Robert Jordan's The Wheel of Time - New Spring
#01; From Heaven to Hell #1 by Dead Dog Comics; GI Spy #1 by
Boom!; Atomika #3 by Speakeasy Comics; Desolation Jones #2 by
Wildstorm; Haught Sauce (this graphic comic book is produced by
Border's Books and sells for $7.98 - the website to this book is
at: www.respark.net).  Below are some of the comic books I
purchased and some comments I made about each one (there are no
bad reviews, because I picked up the comics I enjoy!):

Name: Michael Turner's Soulfire #5
Publisher: Aspen Comics
Price: $2.99
Story: Michael Turner & J.T. Krul
Email: fanmail@aspencomics.com
Comments:  I thought I met the great Wizard of Oz, when Malikai
came across Kamea Unuhi'uhare - 1st master of the Samu Sariah.
This guy is all powerful and I love the way he speaks with his
mind.  Michael Turner's Soulfire #5 was brilliantly crafted and I
am dazzled by the colors in this story.  The artwork is more than
spectacular.  The landscapes were postcard perfect, they seem
more like photographs.  The fire dragon was breathtaking.  This
is an exciting story that has visuals that are completely mind
blowing!

Name: Sea of Red #4
Publisher: Image
Price: $2.99
Story: Rick Remender and Kieron Dwyer
Pencils: Sam Salgood
Email: seaofred@rickremender.com
Comments:  Wow!  Sea of Red #4 really starts off with a bang!  As
Janine and Matt try to fight off those hideous creatures.  This
is one bad situation.  Then for a blood thirsty creature like
Marco, I kind of felt sorry for him, since he is in bad shape and
needs to be fed.  These are some vampires that are going through
a living hell and things only get worse for them, as they come
across a quick sword wielding Samurai.  The artwork was
exceptionally gorgeous and the story filled my pallet with
action, suspense and intrigue.

Name: Serenity #2 of 3
Publisher: Dark Horse Comics
Price: $2.99
Story: Joss Whedon & Brett Matthews
Art: Will Conrad
Email: scotta@darkhorse.com
Comments:  Serenity #2 of 3 was a smooth ride towards sci-fi
action galore!  It's a mixture of Star Wars, Pitch Black and
Steven Spielberg's version of War of the Worlds, starring Tom
Cruise.  Will Conrad's artwork is absolutely amazing!  It was
said that the Battle of the Sturges was the bloodiest battle,
perhaps we can have some flashbacks in issue #3 to see just how
bad it was.  I have never seen the show, but who needs to see the
show when the comic book is just as good and maybe better!

Name: Jim Valentino's Shadow Hawk #4
Publisher: Image
Price: $2.99
Story: Jim Keplinger
Pencils: Carlos Rodriguez
Email: shadowtalk@shadowlinecomics.com
Comments:  Throughout Jim Valentino's Shadow Hawk #4, there is
action upon action upon action.  Hawk's Shadow gave Shadow Hawk a
run for his money!   I love the way Shadow Hawk adapts to the
fighting in hand.  Then Shadow Hawk also contemplates his moves
for the fight.  Shadow Hawk is very calculating.  The foundation
is that Hawk's Shadow has his mind in obtaining the Helmet of
Heru.  A helmet with great powers.  Shadow Hawk gets intense as
he thinks in his mind to destroy him once and for all.  I love
the way Shadow Hawk consults on his legacy of Shadow Hawks, there
is a lot of history to the Shadow Hawk story.  Shadow Hawk is a
fast thinker in disabling the exo-skeleton of his opponent.
Eddie Collins has a lot to learn from Paul and the rest of the
Shadow Hawk history, this is truly an interesting read!

Name: Supernatural Freak Machine - A Cal McDonald Mystery #2
Publisher: IDW
Price: $3.99
Story: Steve Niles
Art: Kelley Jones
Email: letters@idwpublishing.com
Comments:  Supernatural Freak Machine - A Cal McDonald Mystery #2
was right up my alley!  Steve Niles has brought terror to a '73
Chevy Nova!  The story shadowed Stephen King's Christie novel.
This car inherited evil and is not afraid to mow down a few
innocent people along its path.  There is something frightening
about a car that is possessed.  Man has no way of controlling this
car and all man can do is think of ways of stopping the car or
killing it.  I had a good laugh as Lt. Brueger is called Lt.
Booger.  Even though the story is scary, this is also some good
humor.  I really enjoyed the artwork of Kelley Jones, each panel
was eye-candy for a thrilling story!

Name: TMNT #23
Publisher: Mirage Publishing
Price: $2.95
Story: Peter Laird
Pencils: Jim Lawson
Email: fanmail@ninjaturtles.com
Comments:  The TMNT have gone through many changes during their
adventures, but TMNT #23 really hit the icing on the cake, as
Raphael has become like this huge Godzilla creature, he's
hideous!  I'm not even going to mention Donatello, who has his
own problems assisting Raphael.  There is surprises around every
corner and the robot was a surprise that I didn't expect.
Donatello is right, this is becoming a Monster Garage.  The
D'Hoonib robot could be a step into the right direction, but who
knows.  I can't help but feel sorry for Michaelangelo, the place
he is incarcerated at is a living hell.  This small dark place
for Michael is a place that Styracis don't give a darn about!
MIchael must be feeling like a forgotten soul!  Excellent read
for tonight!

Name: BPRD #1
Publisher: Dark Horse Comics
Price: $2.99
Creative Force: Mike Mignola, John Arcudi and Guy Davis
Email: scotta@darkhorse.com
Comments: I was woofing them on as they assaulted those slimy
sacks of pus!  What a way to describe some That's, repulsive
creatures!  As Captain Daimio talks about phase 1, he is totally
respected by his team and they listen to his strategy.  He is a
good leader.  The gun battles were horrendous, but I loved it,
the action was all over the place in BPRD #1.  Shades of the
movie 'Alien', I got repulsed again as these monstrosities have
bellies full of slimy icky tadpoles!  I didn't see that one
coming.  A nest full of slime!  After I read BPRD #1, I will
never eat raw oysters again!  Ever!

This is a Letter to the Editor for Alter Ego #52:
roydann@ntinet.com
Alter Ego #52 was all-in-all a good read.  As I went over all of
the old comics/strips this magazine mentioned from The Masked
Driver, Willie, My Friend Irma, Millie the Model, Johnny Reb,
Navajo Canyons and more, I couldn't help and wonder if comic
books will one day fall in the same category as regular books in
salvaging their immortality.  There are volunteers now trying to
salvage all printed books, by scanning them online.  This project
is referred to as 'Million Books Online".  All old comic books
from the Golden Age to the Silver Age should be scanned and
placed online, or in CD format.  This is to safeguard their
preservation in case of a natural or man-made disaster.  I can't
help but wonder how many books and comic books were destroyed by
Hurricane Katrina.  Let's talk about a great disaster of many
years past.  This disaster was in the form of a fire.  When the
Library of Alexander was destroyed, that was the end of accessing
anything written on these ancient scrolls.  Does that writing
still exist?  In reality, everything that was written on the
scrolls of the Library of Alexandria, still exist.  It exists in
light form when scribed and when read.  To be visible, light must
bounce off of you, for the other person to see you.  Light is
pure energy and light bounced off the written scrolls of the
Library of Alexandria and everything written on those scrolls
exist through light rays, it's the same thing as when you copy a
document on a Xerox machine, the scanned image lives on in the
form of light.  The concept being is that if we had a high
powered telescope in space and were able to zoom into and magnify
the light from a planet that no longer exists, we would be able
to see the events of what occurred on that planet a thousand
years ago and watch a race of aliens evolve through a thousand
years, perhaps a million years, all of the events of what
occurred on that planet would have unfolded through light that
has traveled through space and to our viewing eyes.  But do we
have access to read these old scrolls from the Library of
Alexandria?  The answer is no, that is why it is important to
scan old comic books, so we can have access to them via the
Internet.  As the future progresses, we will come to closer and
closer to REAL artificial intelligence (AI).  What does this have
to do with comic books?  Hold on and I will tell you.  If true AI
was incorporated into a computer and it was hooked to the
Internet, then AI would absorb all knowledge from the Internet
and the AI would become our own created god, an entity of pure
energy and with the knowledge of everything on the Internet and
perhaps AI would attach itself to characters that we created from
Bugs Bunny to Spider-Man and these characters would literally
come alive in cyberspace and be able to think for themselves.
Yes, the characters from comic books could actually come alive
and make their own choices and have their own independent
thought. If matter can have intelligence, so can energy.
Einstein said that E=MC2, matter can be converted into energy
and energy can be converted into matter, on the quantum level all
of us matter beings are pure energy beings. If that is true, old
comic book characters that were created from the past could come
to life via the Internet.  Comic books should be immortalized and
there are millions of comic book collectors out there with
scanners, so perhaps we should start our own "Million Comic Books
Online".  Just a lot of food for thought.

Multiverse Observer and Explorer signing off until next time.....
