LATEST ISSUE OF CRITICALLY ACCLAIMED FANTASY TITLE IN STORES

The Stardust Kid #3 by the Abadazad Team of
DeMatteis and Ploog Out Now

October 26, 2005, Atlanta, GA - The third issue of the critically
acclaimed, all-ages series, The Stardust Kid, from J.M. DeMatteis
and Mike Ploog, published by Desperado Publishing, is set to hit
comic stores on October 25. The first two issues of the series
have met with nationwide sellouts at the retail level and
critical acclaim from reviewers and fantasy lovers of all ages.

This latest issue marks a turning point in the story of Cody
DiMarco and his friends and reveals many of the secrets readers
have been waiting for. If you've yet to try this series, The
Stardust Kid #3 is the perfect issue to jump on with.

"The third issue is where we discover the true Identity of the
mysterious Woman," said DeMatteis, "and the all-out fantasy kicks
in. The kids are out of the city and deep in Another World . . .
facing danger, wonderfully weird creatures and continually-
deepening mysteries. There's a character called Ruchh the River
Giant who could have only come out of Ploog's head. The art is
some of Mike's best ever."
The Stardust Kid comes from the same minds that brought Abadazad
to life three years ago. With Abadazad not currently available in
sequential art format, creators J.M. DeMatteis and Mike Ploog
created this fantastic world to fill the gap. While Abadazad
Books One and Two, published through Disney's Hyperion Books for
Children, are set to be released this coming spring and have
received an overwhelming retail response on a global level, The
Stardust Kid is currently your only comic book format outlet for
Mike Ploog's whimsical art and J.M. DeMatteis' thought-provoking
story.

Here is what people are saying about The Stardust Kid:

"Stardust Kid is an amazing comic book that can be enjoyed by
kids, fans of fantasy, and people who enjoy comics as an art
form. Quite simply, wow." - Carl Towns, Paperbackreader.com

"The Stardust Kid is fresh and fun, creepy and wondrous in both
story and art." - The Buzzdust Kid, Ain't it Cool News

"The Stardust Kid #1 is an impressive debut issue, a bittersweet
coming-of-age fantasy that should easily find an audience among
fans of J.K. Rowling and Lewis Carroll as well as readers who
felt stung by Abadazad's untimely end." - David Howlett,
Buzzscope.com

"...I think that when finished this will be a title to share with
many people, for it transcends the medium, and transcends the
genre." - Alexander Ness, Popthought.com

"Abadazad fans, rejoice, as the creative team behind that lost
and sorely missed series have teamed up once again to present a
new comic title that captures the same sort of magic without
seeming as though it's just a retooling of their previous
efforts. The Stardust Kid boasts the same kind of charming
storytelling and inventive visuals we came to expect from
Abadazad, but the theme and focus the story explores are actually
much different." - Don MacPherson, Critiques on Infinite Earths

"Delightfully imaginative, emotional and visually stunning. The
Stardust Kid #1 is a strong debut, as strong as Abadazad, but
showing more promise." - Chad Boudreau, Comicreaders.com

"Haunting story and beautiful art. Stardust Kid is a great
comic." - Rebecca Salek, Sequentialtart.com

"Brilliant. An all-ages book that truly is for readers of all
ages." - Mike Maillaro, Insidepulse.com

'Batman Begins' Flies to Top of Charts
Author: THOMAS K. ARNOLD
tarnold@questex.com
Posted: October 27, 2005

The annual fourth-quarter home video derby is off and running.
Warner Home Video's Batman Begins, which took in $205.3 million
in theaters, is one of the early winners.

The brooding actioner scored big its first week out, shooting to
the top of both Nielsen VideoScan's First Alert sales chart and
Home Media Retailing's rental chart for the week ended Oct. 23.

With first-week sales pegged at nearly 4 million units, Batman
Begins is the top-selling DVD so far this fourth quarter.

Sales were so strong for Batman Begins that it sold more units
during the week than the rest of the top 20 DVD sellers combined.

George Romero's Land of the Dead, from Universal Studios Home
Entertainment, finished a distant second, selling 13 percent as
many copies as Batman Begins.

Buena Vista Home Entertainment's Cinderella held fast at No. 3,
while the previous week's top seller, 20th Century Fox Home
Entertainment's Kingdom of Heaven, slid to No. 4. Cinderella is
expected to remain a strong seller through the holiday season,
fueled by a $150 million marketing push the studio has put behind
the 55-year-old animated classic.

Bat-fever ran so hot in video stores that Warner's original
Batman, newly issued as a handsome two-disc special edition,
cracked the top sellers chart at No. 18. Debuting just two
notches down, at No. 20: Warner's Batman: The Motion Picture
Anthology 1989-1997, a four-movie pack retailing at a steep
$79.92.

Several special-edition DVDs of older movies scored well on the
sales front. Buena Vista's Tarzan debuted at No. 8, and The
Emperor's New Groove bowed at No. 15; Universal's The Big
Lebowski entered the chart at No. 16.

On Home Media Retailing's rental chart for the week ended Oct.
23, Batman Begins also scored an easy victory, generating an
estimated $11.36 million in rental revenue for the week.

Kingdom of Heaven, however, remained a strong No. 2, earning an
additional $9.06 million to bring its two-week take to $19.1
million, or more than 40 percent of its box office gross.

Land of the Dead debuted at No. 10 on the rental chart, one notch
behind Fox's Fever Pitch, which after 40 days on the chart has
generated an estimated $33.8 million in rental revenue, or more
than 80 percent of its total theatrical gross.

MARVEL TAPS AWARD-WINNING AUTHOR AND NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER
ERIC JEROME DICKEY TO PEN SIX-ISSUE LIMITED SERIES OF STORM

New Series Reveals the Epic Romance of X-Men Favorite Storm and
Black Panther Series to Launch in February 2006, Coinciding With
Black History Month

NEW YORK - Eric Jerome Dickey, critically acclaimed author of New
York Times bestsellers Thieves' Paradise, The Other Woman, and
Genevieve, has signed on to create a spectacular, six-issue
limited series of Storm, spotlighting the ever-popular X-Men
heroine. The first highly anticipated issue is scheduled to debut
in February 2006, coinciding with Black History Month.

Dickey's Storm story arc will present an epic romance, revealing
the untold love story of the world's two most popular African
American Super Heroes, Ororo (also known as Storm of the X-Men)
and T'Challa (a.k.a. The Black Panther), the world's first
African American Super Hero. Marking Dickey's first comic book
writing effort, the captivating series blends romance and
adventure against the backdrop of Africa's cruel plains. Emerging
star David Yardin (Black Panther, District X) will illustrate the
books.

"I never would have imagined that I'd get an opportunity to step
into the Marvel Universe and work on Storm," says Dickey. "She is
such a remarkable character. And being allowed to incorporate
T'Challa, the future Black Panther in the same series...wake me
up because I have to be dreaming."

The six-issue series follows how the famed African Prince
T'Challa crosses paths with Ororo, an orphaned street urchin who
only survives by sheer wit as her mutant powers are still in
their infancy. As the story and romance unfold, the duo come
together to fight against a mutual foe who seeks to put them in a
cage and exploit them toward wicked ends.

"This is a truly groundbreaking storyline that will draw in
readers from all cultural backgrounds," said Joe Quesada, Editor-
in-Chief of Marvel Comics. "Eric's unique vision for this series
will thrill traditional comic fans of Storm and The Black
Panther, as well as appeal to a whole new audience drawn towards
Eric's remarkable storytelling ability."

Dickey's novels Liar's Game, Between Lovers, Thieves' Paradise,
The Other Woman, Naughty or Nice, Drive Me Crazy, and Genevieve
have all earned him the success of a spot on The New York Times
bestseller list. Liar's Game, Thieves' Paradise, The Other Woman,
Naughty or Nice, and Drive Me Crazy have also given Dickey the
added distinction of being nominated for a NAACP Image Award in
the category of Outstanding Fiction in 2001, 2002, 2003, and
2004. His 12th novel, Chasing Destiny, will be released in May
2006.

SERIES BASED ON HIS EPIC THE DARK TOWER

New Comic Series Exploring the Origin of the Notorious Gunslinger
Character Marks First Time Stephen King Has Produced Original
Content for the Comic Book Format

Marvel Comics to Launch First Issue in April 2006

NEW YORK - World Fantasy Award-winning writer Stephen King, long
acknowledged as the master of modern horror, and Marvel Comics
join forces this spring to launch a ground-breaking new comic
book series adapted from King's magnum opus, The Dark Tower. The
first issue is scheduled to debut in April 2006.

The comic series will mark the first time Stephen King has
produced original content for an ongoing comic book project. The
series will expand the saga of King's epic hero, Roland Deschain,
whose quest to save the Dark Tower is captured in seven best-
selling novels published over the course of twenty-five years.
King's unparalleled storytelling power will inform new stories
that delve into the life and times of the young Roland, revealing
the trials and conflicts that lead to the burden of destiny he
must assume as a man, the last Gunslinger from a world that has
moved on. The comics will work in conjunction with the novels,
further supplementing and defining the saga's mythology under the
direction of the acclaimed author himself.

"As a lifelong fan of Marvel comic books, and as an adult reader
who's seen comics "come of age" and take their rightful place in
the world of fantasy and science fiction, I'm excited to be a
part of Roland's new incarnation," said Stephen King.

The series will be illustrated by Eisner-award winning artist Jae
Lee.

King continued, "I love Jae Lee's work, and I think this is going
to be a dynamite partnership. Frankly, I can't wait."

"Stephen King is a true literary master. We are thrilled beyond
words to have him join Marvel on this exciting project. The
millions of Dark Tower fans are in for a real treat, and I'm sure
many more will soon be hooked on this epic series through this
historic comic project," said Joe Quesada, Marvel Entertainment's
Editor-In-Chief and Chief Creative Officer, Publishing.

"The level of excitement and talent that Stephen King brings to
the world of comic books is electrifying. We're proud and honored
to be a part of what promises to be an industry-defining event,"
said Dan Buckley, Publisher and Chief Operating Officer of Marvel
Entertainment, Publishing.

Pocket Books, a division of Simon & Schuster, will be releasing
the last three novels in the Dark Tower series (Wolves of the
Calla, Song of Susannah, and The Dark Tower) in 2006. Available
in paperback from Scribner is a two-volume concordance to the
novels compiled by Robin Furth, who is also contributing to the
Marvel comic project. Two new Stephen King novels will be
published by Scribner in 2006-CELL (with a protagonist who just
happens to be a comic book artist) in January, and LISEY'S STORY
in October. Having written over 40 novels, Stephen King is one of
the most popular writers of all time, and is undoubtedly the
world's leading horror writer. His books have been translated
into 33 languages and published in over 35 countries. Currently,
more than 300 million copies of his novels are in print.
