shown the book," said artist, Clint Hilinski.  "I think the

just getting started.  We've got big things planned for the
series and we're not going to stray away from the controversy

MADISON TO PRODUCE DEGRASSI: THE NEXT GENERATION GRAPHIC NOVELS

SIMON & SCHUSTER, FENN TO PUBLISH FIRST TWO VOLUMES IN FALL 2006

Over the last five years, Degrassi: The Next Generation has grown
into the highest-rated show on The N in the United States.  The
show's Canadian audience, watching on the CTV Network, is the
largest for any homegrown drama. Legions of fans have followed
Emma, Paige, Craig, Jimmy, Ellie, Manny and their schoolmates
through five exciting years of high school. Every week around the
world, teens see themselves and their lives reflected in the
dilemmas, dramas, joys and pains of the kids of Degrassi
Community School.

But there's so much more that never makes it to the screen. What
happens during summer vacation? What about the off-camera, after-
school lives of the Degrassi students? What are the characters'
home lives really like? What about the weeks that go by in the
Degrassi world between one episode and the next? Surely, some
good stuff must be going on - and the fans want to know!

Now, DEGRASSI: EXTRA CREDIT graphic novels fill in those gaps!
The original storylines in each volume - written by award-winning
graphic novel and comic book writer J. Torres in collaboration
with the television show's creative staff - pick up where the
show left off, expanding on plot elements from Degrassi: The Next
Generation and weaving new adventures, challenges and life
experiences seamlessly into the DNG story. And the dynamic
visuals created by illustrator Ed Northcott will grip readers
from the first panel.

"We work tremendously hard to ensure that Degrassi is relevant
to the lives of teens," said Degrassi creator Linda Schuyler,
president of Epitome Pictures. "That's why being at the forefront
of the English-language manga movement is incredibly exciting -
it's an art form that kids everywhere are embracing."  Adds
Christopher Jackson of Madison Press Books, "DEGRASSI: EXTRA
CREDIT titles will be must-haves, for fans of the show and fans
of graphic fiction alike.  It's been fantastic to work with Ed,
J. and Epitome's DNG writers and to find out just how perfectly
suited Degrassi is to this brand of visual storytelling."

Look for the first two volumes of DEGRASSI: EXTRA CREDIT in
stores across North America in October 2006, published by Pocket
Books/Simon & Schuster in the United States and Fenn Publishing
Co. in Canada.

Toronto-based writer J. Torres is the author of the immensely
popular Teen Titans Go monthly comic book for DC Comics. He also
writes the quarterly graphic novel series Love as a Foreign
Language and contributes to the cartoon Hi Hi Puffy Ami Yumi,
seen on the Cartoon Network. His titles have earned nominations
for the prestigious Eisner Award (Alison Dare, 2003) and Harvey
Award (Sidekicks, 2001), among others. In 2004 he received two
Shuster Award nominations for Outstanding Canadian Writer, and
his graphic novella Days Like This was an American Library
Association Selection. Torres's other credits include writing for
Batman, Black Panther, Rugrats and X-Men comics, for various
children's chapter books and activity books, and for magazines
including Kayak, Nickelodeon and Whoa.

The talented and prolific Ed Northcott has made his name creating
graphic art for countless role-playing games and their book
covers and interiors, including Centauri Knights, Uresia, GURPS
and Silver Age Sentinels. Northcott lives in Toronto.

MADISON PRESS BOOKS, a Toronto-based co-edition book publisher,
has been creating bestselling books for the international market
since 1979, including the illustrated behind-the-scenes look at
the twenty-five year history of the Degrassi franchise, Degrassi:
Generations (2005).

EPITOME PICTURES and its affiliate companies have been producing
quality television programming since 1976, including the multi-
award-winning, internationally recognized Degrassi franchise: The
Kids of Degrassi Street, Degrassi Junior High and Degrassi High,
all of which still air throughout the world. Epitome Pictures
also produces the hit drama Instant Star, seen on the CTV
television network in Canada and on Nickelodeon's The-N in the
United States.

SCOTT CHRISTIAN SAVA'S THE DREAMLAND CHRONICLES GOES ONLINE
No single issues, just daily updates that continue the acclaimed
story

Los Angeles, CA -- Jan 12, 2006 -- Scott Christian Sava's
acclaimed The Dreamland Chronicles moves to its very own website
this month. The website, http://www.dreamlandchronicles.com/,
went live this past Monday beginning with the first page of issue
#1 which was originally published by Astonish Comics. New pages
will be posted Monday through Friday every week so fans can get
their fix of the acclaimed story rendered completely in an
animated 3D style unique to Dreamland.

Single issues of The Dreamland Chronicles will no longer be
published, but as each story arc ends, they will be released in
collected volumes. The first collection will be released in
fall/winter 2006 and will be a whopping 250 pages. Sava
anticipates eight full volumes chronicling Alexander's incredible
adventures in Dreamland.

"This idea just makes sense," said Sava. "The incredible amount
of work that goes into producing each issue made the schedule for
individual comics just too spread out. But rather than make fans
wait...they can read along daily. New fans get a chance to see
the book from the very beginning. Old fans will be able to re-
live some of the earlier adventures in a new format and soon get
to see daily updates that continue the epic story of Alex, Kiwi
and the rest. Also...I get to interact with fans and show them
behind-the-scenes work from time to time. I'm really excited
about it"

Reviews of the last two issues of The Dreamland Chronicles
illustrate the book's attraction and what should make this site a
daily destination:

"One of the most artistically captivating comic books I've ever
seen. Ever. A terrific all ages comic... Don't miss it." --- Adam
Messano, WellReadPress.com

"5 (out of 5) stars. It is just one visual delight after another.
This comic will return you to the days of your childhood and it
will help your imagination fly free."  --- Richard Vasseur,
JazmaOnline.com

"Jaw-dropping digital artwork." --- Eric Lindberg,
BrokenFrontier.com

" INDY PICK OF THE MONTH The Dreamland Chronicles has everything
one would want in a fantasy story and is the best all ages
fantasy comic book on the market." --- James Mishler, Comic
Buyer's Guide

The Dreamland Chronicles, an all-ages 3D-rendered comic book from
Spider-Man: Quality of Life and The Lab artist Scott Christian
Sava, tells the story about a young boy named Alexander who has
incredible adventures in Dreamland every night with his friends--
-Nastajia the elf princess, Paddington the rock boy, and Kiwi the
fairy. On his twelfth birthday his dreams stop. Eight years
later, Alexander has started dreaming again and finds himself in
a world filled with giants, dragons, mermaids, and pirates.
Dealing with everyday life as a college student is hard enough;
now Alex must deal with nightly adventures in Dreamland and his
newfound feelings for his childhood sweetheart, Nastajia the Elf
princess.

Subject: Event Horizon - not gone for good...
Date:    1/13/2006 6:13:28 A.M. Eastern Standard Time
From:    Liam McSharp

Dear all,

I just wanted to let you know that although Event Horizon in the
current format will only run one more issue it's not all over
yet.

Event Horizon was an experiment right from the outset.  We tried,
and did do something important and unique in the marketplace.  We
got great reviews, and produced a beautiful book.  However there
was no getting round the fact that people thought it was too
expensive.  I entirely disagree with this, but it never went away
and ultimately I think it was damaging.  Also it fell between
pillar and post, not quite being a book or a comic, which made it
a tough sell to either market.  So the intention is to rethink
the product, drop the production costs and page count and return
with a slimmer, cheeper version, and hopefully more copies a
year.

The next incarnation of Event Horizon (EH4) is still planned for
an October release, and will still feature the big names promised
- Dave Gibbons, Dougie Braithwaite, Mark Millar amongst them - so
although I'm very sad to see this high-end package go, I'm happy
it's evolving into something new, and equally Exciting.

Event Horizon will also continue to showcase new talent of the
high calibre our readers have come to expect.

Cheers all,

Liam.
