MOONSTONE BOOKS ANNOUNCES NEW FORUM CONTEST

Publisher Places Original Kolchak Page by Artist Art Nichols in
Prize Pool!

As previously announced, Moonstone Books is continuing with their
year of contests based at their new message boards. This time
around, participants will have to search for events and phrases
appearing in Moonstone Books. The winner will receive a page of
original art from the Kolchak story Get of Belial, adapted from
the unused Television script.

As with the previous contest, every day for the entire month of
February, a new quest will be placed on the Moonstone forums,
where registered members can test their knowledge of Moonstone
lore. The first poster who correctly answers a question will have
their name placed in the running for the beautiful page of
original art.

Not only will the winner receive the artwork, two runners-up will
receive signed Moonstone books.

(Follow this link to view the artwork:

Those wishing to participate in the contest can register for the
Moonstone Forums here:
http://moonstonebooks.proboards67.com/index.cgi?action=register

In order to enter the contest, you need only register and
participate on the Moonstone Forums, as well as complete the
quests as they are run on the forums. Each quest will have its
own thread, and these threads will be locked at the end of each
day before the new thread is started. Posting the first correct
answer will place a poster's name in the running for the prize
package; however, the correct answers will not be presented on
the forums until the beginning of March, so try to answer as many
questions as you can.

In addition, since the final answers won't be run until March,
don't be dissuaded if you're not the first to post in the thread,
you won't know if those before have the correct answer until
March.

Once this contest ends, a new contest will launch in April.
Prizes will vary from contest to contest, but the excitement of
winning great Moonstone prizes will remain.

Before, during and after the contest, make sure you stop by the
newly remodeled Moonstone website at www.moonstonebooks.com for
all the latest information and to sign up for the Moonstone
Newsletter.

Veteran comics creator Brian Augustyn joins Narwain as Publishing
Consultant

Veteran comics creator Brian Augustyn has joined Narwain
Publishing as its U.S. publishing consultant, lending some 23
years of comics publishing experience to the recently launched
international comics publisher.

"We're thrilled that Brian has agreed to bring his considerable
expertise to Narwain," said publisher Mauro Di Pede.

Augustyn entered the business in 1983 as an intern at First
Comics and went on to hold various editorial posts for small
publishers during the black and white independents boom. DC
Comics courted him in 1987 and went to work for the publishing
giant for nearly a decade, eventually becoming a senior editor.
In 1996 he left DC to become a freelance writer-and to devote
more time to helping raise his young daughters--but has remained
a major presence in the industry, writing for virtually every
publisher, and also serving as a freelance editor with Joe
Quesada and Jimmy Palmiotti's startup Event Comics.

"As the publishing consultant I plan to work with Narwain to help
them improve their presence and operations in the U.S. which has
a very competitive comics market," said Augustyn. "I'm hoping my
years of experience will lend some navigational value to their
endeavors."

Augustyn will provide a point of contact in the U.S. for Narwain,
which is headquartered in Spoleto, Italy. This will include being
available to retailers and distributors to help smooth the
domestic publishing operation, and also to facilitate publicity
opportunities between Narwain talent and U.S. journalists.

"Narwain is an exciting publisher for several reasons. They're
committed to bringing a real diversity to the marketplace, a
diversity that's very apparent when you look at their initial
releases," said Augustyn who, in addition to his consultancy, is
writing two books for the publisher, including the upcoming "Un-
Human".

"The other point of excitement with Narwain is the global aspect
of the business plan. They're opening up the comic book
marketplace by publishing books in several countries and
languages all at one. Their books can thrive even if they don't
do 'big two' numbers domestically."

Augustyn's first act as U.S. publishing consultant for Narwain is
to invite retailers and other parties interested in Narwain to
contact him directly via email at BAugus54@aol.com

"I'm looking forward to seeing Narwain grow to its full potential
and hope to hear from all retailers in the coming months," said
Augustyn.

Platinum Studios and Mark Canton's Atmosphere Entertainment MM
Will Be 'Killing Demons' Together

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif., Jan. 31 /PRNewswire/ -- Producers Mark
Canton, chairman and chief executive officer of Atmosphere
Entertainment MM, and Scott Mitchell Rosenberg, chairman of
Platinum Studios, an entertainment company that controls the
world's largest independent library of comic book characters,
announced today that they will develop Platinum's graphic novel
"Killing Demons" as a feature film.  A screenwriter will be
announced shortly.

In "Killing Demons" a man, whose family was slain by
supernatural creatures when he was a child, devotes his life to
hunting down the demonic creatures that prey on humanity.
"Killing Demons" is written by Peter Siegel and illustrated by
Brent White.  Through the self-publishing and independent
distribution efforts of its authors, "Killing Demons" received
critical acclaim and had sales enough to place it in the top 100
graphic novels for 2005.

Rosenberg and Canton first worked together when Canton was
chairman of the Columbia TriStar Motion Picture Companies, where
he green lit the billion-dollar franchise "Men In Black," a comic
book property introduced to him by Rosenberg.  Atmosphere MM's
current slate of films features several graphic novel/comic book
adaptations, including "300," based on the best-selling graphic
novel by Frank Miller, and "Books of Magic," based on the ongoing
comic book created by Neil Gaiman -- both of which are for Warner
Bros. Pictures, as well as "The Spiderwick Chronicles," based
upon the best-selling book series by Tony Deterlizzi and Holly
Black for Paramount Pictures.

"'Killing Demons' is the kind of movie I really like making,"
said Canton. "It's in the vein of 'Men In Black' -- an exciting,
heroic big-screen adventure with comedic moments, lots of action
and franchise potential.  It will be a great addition to
Atmosphere's slate of upcoming films and I'm looking forward to
producing it with Scott, Steve and the Platinum team."

"'Men In Black' was a huge success and we hope to raise
'Killing Demons' to the same level," said Rosenberg.  "It is
great to have the opportunity to work with Mark again, especially
with such a unique and intriguing project as 'Killing Demons.'"

After the success of "Men In Black," Rosenberg founded
Platinum Studios and has acquired the world's largest independent
library of comic book properties containing over 2,500 characters
that have appeared in hundreds of millions of comics worldwide.
Platinum recently announced a financing and production deal with
Relativity Media LLC and IDG Films for two back-to-back films
based on the "Witchblade" comic book franchise and also signed
the Pang Brothers to direct Platinum's upcoming feature, "The
Darkness," both along with Top Cow Productions.  Platinum
Studios' properties are set up at most of the major studios,
including:  "Cowboys & Aliens" at Sony, "Unique" at Disney, "Mal
Chance" at Miramax, "Wanted" at Universal, "Inferno" at Warner
Bros., "Fathom" at Fox and "Meet the Haunteds" at NBC.

Canton and Rosenberg will produce the Atmosphere
Entertainment MM and Platinum Studios production.  Atmosphere
MM's head of production, Steve Barnett will be Executive Producer
and Platinum Studios' Director of Development Aaron Severson and
Director of Production Jay Burns will be Co-Producing.

Spike TV Green Lights 'Blade' for Series

LOS ANGELES, Jan. 31 /PRNewswire/ -- Spike TV has given the
green-light for a television series based on Marvel Super Hero
"Blade" as the network's first original scripted series. The
network has ordered 11 one-hour episodes, in addition to the
previously announced two-hour kick-off episode, to be produced by
New Line Television, set to commence production in Vancouver this
spring.  "Blade" premieres in June 2006.

"We're extremely pleased with the pilot for 'Blade,' which
delivers a thrilling action-adventure for its built-in fan base
as well as a character- driven drama filled with heart-pounding
tension and suspense," says Pancho Mansfield, Executive Vice
President, Original Programming at Spike TV. "The series will be
the first of our scripted fare as we embark on creating a greater
mix of original programming for our viewers."

"Blade" focuses on Marvel's eponymous immortal warrior
fighting a shadowy underworld of vampires who want to destroy the
human race.  The title character is a half-man, half-vampire who
uses his superhuman powers and skills to fearlessly battle the
demonic creatures of the night in a blood- drenched crusade to
prevent the ascendance of vampires over mankind.

The Spike TV weekly series will maintain continuity from the
highly successful movie trilogy but will bring the main character
into a new storyline with new characters.

Kirk "Sticky" Jones ("Over There") stars in the leading role
of "Blade." Kirk Jones first became widely known as "Sticky
Fingaz," the front man for the hip-hop group Onyx.  He later
appeared and starred in a number of feature films including
Clockers, Dead Presidents and Flight of the Phoenix. Most
recently, Jones appeared regularly on FX's "Over There" and "The
Shield." Rounding out the series cast are Jill Wagner ("Monk"),
Neil Jackson ("Stargate SG-1"), Nelson Lee ("Traffic," the TV
mini-series) and Jessica Gower ("Blurred").

Acclaimed screenwriter and executive producer David S. Goyer
("Blade" trilogy and "Batman Begins") and popular comic book
writer Geoff Johns who worked on the "Blade" tele-movie, have
also signed on for the series production. The tele-movie is
directed by Peter O'Fallon ("Suicide Kings," "American Gothic").

Bill McGoldrick, Vice President, Original Programming and
Lisa Ullmann, Director of Original Programming, are executives
responsible for production at Spike TV.  Avi Arad, Chairman and
CEO of Marvel Studios, Ari Arad, Executive Vice President, Marvel
Studios, Jim Rosenthal and Jon Kroll of New Line Television will
serve as executive producers.

An overview of what attendees can expect from the Joss Whedon-
themed programming this year, as well as an introduction of the

there will be time for fans to meet and greet each other after
the overview during this hour.

1:00-2:00 - Intro to the Whedonverse
A panel targeted towards people interested in Buffy, Angel,
and/or Firefly but who haven't been introduced to the series yet.
The discussion will introduce the series, the characters, and the
ongoing themes, as well as show some key clips to get new fans
interested.

2:00-3:00 - Firefly Episode Screening

for fans' favorite episode. Based on current input, I anticipate
this will be the "Out of Gas" episode.

characters from Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel.

Whedon's work in comic books (Astonishing X-Men, Fray, etc).

A discussion panel about the theme of redemption. Examines
specific characters and their stories and shows how this is a
common theme in all of Whedon's work.

The specifics of this panel are still being decided.

2:00-3:00 - Buffy Episode Screening
The specific episode shown will be determined by online voting
for fans' favorite episode. Based on current input, I anticipate
this will be the "Hush" episode.

We will have an experienced moderator available (possibly Angela
Duplis, who has appeared in small roles in episodes of Buffy and
Enterprise) to introduce the guests as well as to facilitate the
Q&A.

movie roots of Joss Whedon's work, particularly Buffy and Angel.

for fans' favorite episode. Based on current input, I anticipate
this will be the "Smile Time" episode.
