His website for his comic imprint is www.shandafantasyarts.net ] YOU'LL BELIEVE STAGEHANDS CAN FLY In 1987, Bollywood produced their own version of SUPERMAN THE MOVIE, fondly known as the INDIAN SUPERMAN. http://xoomer.virgilio.it/amasoni2002/shl/dc/the_indian_superman_ (1987).htm I've spent many happy hours laughing at this epic, with features a dozen musical numbers and a greatly expanded Jimmy Olsen comedy role. One of the best parts is the adaptation of the Margot Kidder "Read my Mind" flight over Metropolis scene. In the recreation, Gita and Superman sing as they fly over the city. One clip shows them flying over skyscrapers while the shadows of two stagehands cross the screen a foot below them. _________________________________________________________________ ----------------------------------------------------------------- [12] HYPE! & LINKS Section Various THIS WEEK'S LINKS These are the website URLS to the regular items that are usually here every week or two: World Wide Web Home Page http://members.aol.com/ComicBkNet Yahoo Group CBEM http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ComicBookNetworkEmag Trivia sponsors: Discount Comic Book Service http://www.dcbservice.com That's Entertainment http://www.thatse.com News: Diamond Comics http://www.diamondcomics.com Marvel http://www.Marvel.com DC Comics http://www.dccomics.com The PULSE http://www.comicon.com/pulse/ Comics Continuum http://www.comicscontinuum.com/ Newsarama http://www.Newsarama.com/ X-Fan http://x-mencomics.com/xfan/ The Comic Wire http://www.comicbookresources.com/ ICV2 http://www.ICV2.com The SCOOP! http://scoop.diamondgalleries.com/ Alternative Comics http://www.indyworld.com/altcomics All The Rage http://www.SilverBulletComicBooks.com Lying in the Gutters http://www.comicbookresources.com/columns/ Columns: New Comics Releases http://www.comiclist.com X-Fan Reviews http://www.comixfan.com/xfan Paul Dale Roberts http://www.jazmaonline.com/ Richard Vasseur http://www.jazmaonline.com/ Michael Vance http://www.starland.com/sus Mark Allen Jonathan A. Acclaimed as today's most consistently entertaining humor/adventure series, Soulsearchers & Company features super- hero epics with a saucy, sophisticated tone. The series showcases the lives of a motley group of ghostbusters in a city that's become synonymous with paranormal overactivity, the small Connecticut township now nicknamed FEAR CITY. The gang includes: Bridget, a former Olympic athlete; Baraka, a fire-demon from an Arabic Hell; Janocz, a gypsy teen who can transform into monstrous forms, Kelly, an apprentice witch, and Peter P. Peterson, an accountant with a magic bag. Soulsearchers & Company is a major ongoing comics achievement, from the award-winning scripting talents of Peter (Young Justice, Spyboy) David, with delightfully different artwork from Amanda (Gatecrasher, Vampirella) Conner, Neil (Superman Adventures) Vokes, and Jim (Spider-Man) Mooney, with additional sequence art by John Heebink, Ricardo Villagran, and Michael Weaver. This hugely engaging collection features issues #7-12 of the Soulsearchers' monthly comic, including the three-part "Toadies" saga, in which the SS group breaks up, only to find that their separate paths each lead them into conflict with the Cult of Drek and its leader, the Schlockmeister. "The Weirdest Link," an album issue, recounts some of the members' early highlights, including Baraka's ouster from Hell, and then there's the matter of the mutated creatures living in Mystic Grove harbor, and the spectacle of Bridget and Baraka's first real date ("A Date that Will Live in Infamy!"). Also included are several special text features. See for yourself why Soulsearchers and Company was nominated as "Best Ongoing Humor Series" by the British Comic Book Professionals Society. Also debuting a brand-new painted cover of Bridget and Baraka, created by Amanda Conner on-site at the Claypool booth at 2000's Comic Con International.
