from disease, poverty and exploitation as valued individuals
within strong communities.  Draw The World Together is a
collection of comics creators donating their time, their art,
their abilities, to raise funds for Everychild, via auctions of
original artwork, and providing original sketches to fans at the

About the Bristol International Comic Expo 2006

Organised by Mike Allwood of renowned UK comics shop Area 51, the
Bristol Expo is the longest-running and most successful comics
event in the UK ever.  Advance tickets are available through the
official website (www.comicexpo.net) at a bargain price (?5 per
day for an adult ticket, children 10 and under FREE, children 11
to 16 just ?1).  The Ramada Plaza hotel offers special Expo
rates, see the website for details.

Free Virtual Anthology Now Available

As well as the usual superhero mainstream coverage at the
upcoming Bristol International Comic Expo (May 12-13)
(www.comicexpo.net), the event is becoming known for an ever-
increasing range of UK Comics - aka Small Press - in attendance.
However, the Expo organisers are aware that it can be quite
intimidating for a new reader to dip one's toes in the oceans of
independent books: Where should I start?  Am I going to be given
the hardsell?  How do I find out in advance which books might
appeal to me?

To answer these questions the producer of the Expo approached
Chris Lynch (www.monkeyswithmachineguns.com) and Craig Johnson
(www.silverbulletcomicbooks.com) to solicit and build a free
preview website (and ultimately, downloadable PDF) for as many
exhibitors as cared to contribute - to showcase their best works,
to provide a central one-stop-shop - not only for potential
attendees at the Expo, but also for general interest, for anyone
interesting in independent comics.

The first iteration of the website is now up and running at:

http://www.engine4.net/bristolpreview/

with further updates weekly as more creators submit their pieces.

Please disseminate this link amongst your readers/mailing
lists/websites, and help us give these little-known books some of
the publicity they deserve.

Thanks,
Comic Expo Team.

Chris Ryall Steps Down From EIC Role At Kevin Smith's
MoviePoopShoot.com Ryall Brings His Four-Year Tenure To An End

San Diego, CA (February 13, 2006) Chris Ryall, the Editor-in-
Chief of filmmaker Kevin Smith's pop culture news and commentary
Web site, MoviePoopShoot.com, is stepping down from the role
effective today. Ryall, who spends his days serving as Publisher
and Editor-in-Chief of San Diego-based comic book publisher IDW
Publishing, has been with Smith's site since it first went legit
in June 2002.

Prior to Ryall's arrival, the site functioned as an extension of
the movie fan parody site that first appeared in Smith's 2001
film, Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back. According to Ryall, "Kevin
and I talked in early June of 2002 about turning the site from a
jokey place into a real pop culture smorgasbord, which is exactly
what I strived to do." The site, which changed over exactly two
weeks after Ryall agreed to come on board, received an early warm
welcome in the press, garnering positive mentions in Variety, the
Hollywood Reporter, USA Today, and even CNN's Headline News.

In his four-year tenure, the site featured columns from Smith
himself (documenting his work on Jersey Girl), former Los Angeles
Times writer Jeffery Wells, DVD producer Robert Burnett,
screenwriter Brian Lynch, among others. And three years ago, its
most popular column, comics writer/historian Scott Tipton's
Comics 101, went live. That column, which features detailed looks
at comics titles, characters and films past and present, will
exit the site this week as well. However, the column itself will
continue, as Tipton, also the provider of the bulk of Movie Poop
Shoot's news and headlines since its inception, will launch
Comics101.com next week.

Ryall plans to bring his popular TV Recommendations column to
Comics101.com as well, and will continue to document his
development of his comic book adaptation of Clive Barker's The
Great and Secret Show (to be published through IDW Publishing
starting in March) there as well. Kentucky Fried Rasslin' writer
Scott Bowden will also join Comics101.com next week.

About Ryall's work on the site, Kevin Smith said "Chris has
really been a rock for Poop Shoot, lo these many years-and not
the kind that drags it down or sinks it, mind you; the kind a
brother could count on, day-in and day-out, to build and maintain
a site that accomplished exactly what it set out to do: move
beyond the movie in-joke it started life as and become a thriving
web destination all its own."

Under Ryall and Tipton's run at Movie Poop Shoot, the site's
readership and hit counts grew every year, and they were never
higher than in January 2006, according to Alexa.com. Many of the
columnists and comic strip creators will continue on at Movie
Poop Shoot, and Smith and his Web designer, Ming Chen, have
additional changes and a site makeover planned.

"It's been a great run with the site, and I'm proud of what we
accomplished in my time there," said Ryall. "Kevin wanted a site
that gave him news and info on pretty much every area of pop
culture he was interested in, and he wanted daily updates. I did
my best to give him the former, and in regards to the latter, we
maintained updated of news and columns every single weekday of my
entire run. In the past four years, there have been holidays,
sicknesses, family crises, my wedding, the birth of my daughter
and other situations that arose, and yet not one of those broke
our uninterrupted streak of updates. Which is a testament to not
only the obsessive efforts of Tipton and myself to deliver every
single day, but also to the dozens of reliable, consistent
freelancers that have contributed over the years. I know Kevin
has some different things planned for the site now, so it made
sense for me to step aside. I think I'll miss running it forever,
but I look forward to some new experiences and also to seeing
what they do with the ol' place when I'm gone."

Chris Ryall, who previously spent time as an advertising
copywriter, corporate speechwriter and project director for TV
icon Dick Clark, joined IDW Publishing as Editor-in-Chief in July
2004. He added the title of Publisher in October 2005. As a
writer for IDW, he has written Shaun of the Dead, George A.
Romero's Land of the Dead, Doomed and Clive Barker's The Great
and Secret Show. He's based in San Diego, CA. He named his new
daughter Lucy in tribute to Charles Schulz, not some red-headed
'50s sitcom star.

SWASHBUCKLING ADVENTURE AND MORE, ILLUSTRATED!

Eureka Productions is pleased to announce the publication of
GRAPHIC CLASSICS: RAFAEL SABATINI, the thirteenth volume in the
GRAPHIC CLASSICS series of graphic novels.

The GRAPHIC CLASSICS series presents the works of great authors
in comics adaptations and heavily-illustrated text.  The
adaptations are written at an adult level, and utilize as much of
the author1s original language as possible.  Our goal is to
create books that are enjoyable for adults, yet accessible to
children ages twelve and up. This volume is a bit of a departure
in that it features the works of one of the lesser-known authors
in the series.  One of the goals of GRAPHIC CLASSICS is to
present adaptations of the works of worthy authors who may be
unfamiliar to today1s readers.

GRAPHIC CLASSICS: RAFAEL SABATINI features the origin of
Sabatini's famed gentleman pirate "Captain Blood", adapted by Rod
Lott and Carlo Vergara. Also, a great selection of mysteries and
adventure tales illustrated by Stanley Shaw, Rich Tommaso, Roger
Langridge, Jackie Smith, Milton Knight, Gerry Alanguilan and Hunt
Emerson. With a comics bio of Sabatini by Mort Castle, and cover
depiction of Captain Blood by Joel F. Naprstek.

KOMIKWERKS EXPANSION UNDERWAY!
Rob M. Worley and Gary Reed join the popular web provider.

Komikwerks, the online community website that features web comics
and comic content will be expanding in many different directions
in the coming months as they gear up to become one of the leading
destination sites for comic fans.

Created by Shannon Denton and Patrick Coyle, Komikwerks has
structured some unique relationships with high visible partners
and will build upon that to increase their presence.  "We have
partnerships with AOL: Red for content and we also have Stan
Lee's Sunday Comics," said Coyle, "and we also have done special
projects with Joe Kubert's School and annual events such as the
Black History month with strips and interviews featuring Black
creators."

Komikwerks has expanded their core by bringing in new
partnerships and partners.  Joining Komikwerks will be Rob
M.Worley, known for his Comics2Film website, the premiere site
for the relationship of comics to film, who will serve as
director of Web Development. "Rob brings in a great sense of
design and reliability. Implementation of website design is an
art in itself and he is a great writer, so it was a no-brainer"
said Denton.  Also joining Komikwerks will be Gary Reed, formerly
of Caliber Comics, who will take on the role of Special Features
Editor.  "With both Rob and Gary, their expertise gives them
certain areas to handle but they're involved in many other
aspects of Komikwerks as well, not just their designated job
titles.  Steve Horton will continue and expand his role as Online
Comic Editor.

"Fans have already undoubtedly noticed a change over the last
month," said Coyle.  "There have been a number of new columns
appearing on a regular basis, we have rants and interviews coming
out with a greater frequency, and some of the online strips have
moved to daily releases."  Coyle explained that content areas are
the major focus for Komikwerks.  "We're not a news and review
site.  There are so many sties out there that do such a good job
with that there isn't really a need for us to concentrate in that
area.  So rather we've formed partnerships with Comics2film, etc.
to let them provide us with quality comics news.

The online comic section will grow considerably over the next few
months as many of the titles published by Caliber Comics and
other publishers will begin appearing daily on the site.
Starting in February will be comics such as Deadworld, Raven
Chronicles, Troy, Seeker, Helsing, and Magus from Caliber.
Disciples, a title released by Image, will also make its debut.
Fans can also look for new adventures based on these titles in
the future.

In addition to the website, Komikwerks will expand into the book
world, continuing their release of comics and graphic novels.
"We've done a few previously in association with iBooks like the
current DEAD SAMURAI as well as our own Komikwerks anthologies,
but now we're aggressively expanding those areas," said Denton.
"We signed a deals with different distributors for our book
lines."

Komikwerks will release a number of digital ebooks and have a
partnership with a number of comic publishers to include in the
library.  Publishers include Moonstone, Caliber, Arcana, as well
various other professional individuals" Coyle says

However, Komikwerks most ambitious launch will be the line of
young adult books under the Actionopolis masthead.  "We've
assembled some of the top writers and artists from the fields of
comics, video games, animation, film, TV, and other areas to
bring a fully fledged lineup," said Denton.  The official
announcement and first releases regarding Actionopolis will be in
late February.  "We're trying to structure a release schedule
that will give comic stores a chance to participate early before
the books hit the bookstore market, and hopefully draw non-comics
readers into their stores" explained Denton. "Our first unveiling
of the line will be in May at the Book Expo America and many of
our creators will be introducing the line at Motor City Con that
same month."
