THE Comic Book Net WEB PAGE http://members.aol.com/ComicBkNet ---------------- If you have access to the World Wide Web, please stop by and visit our web page! You'll also find important links to some of the comic companies and creators' web pages and many other Comic Book related links! _________________________________________________________________ ----------------------------------------------------------------- [1] On the Net David LeBlanc ComicBkNet@aol.com It is that time of the year when most of us change our clocks to shift the available daylight to evening. The sun sets an hour later starting Sunday. Well, it doesn't really, we just call it a different time. Anyway, as a public service we remind you that it is a good idea to check the batteries in your smoke detectors and change them to be sure. If you have not yet gotten a Cabon Monoxide detector for EACH floor of your house do it now! There are units available that combine the two functions so it is as easy as swapping the old smoke detector for a combination unit. BE SURE it is run by batteries or if hard wired has a battery backup. It won't do you any good if you lose power and it only runs on house AC current. We have enjoyed a spectacular end of March here in New England. The temperatures all week have been 60F and above. I am enjoying it while it lasts but I know it won't. But Spring fever is hitting everyone and the driving range is calling in the warm breeze. Meanwhile, I've got these new comics to read this week. BOOM! My life is hectic this time of year and work things are taking time as well. May need to take a week off from the Emag soon as I have a week in Indiana coming up that will keep me busy day and night. We'll see. I'll send you a copy of my next book in June: a revised third edition of GRAPHIC CLASSICS: EDGAR ALLAN POE. -- Tom Pomplun Graphic Classics Publisher [Check out the whole series readers! - D.L.] +++++ Subject: David, you can publish this in your CBEM if you like. Date: 3/28/2006 3:49:06 P.M. Eastern Standard Time From: JazmaPika@cs.com (Paul Dale Roberts) To: ComicBknet It's not a definite yet, but a independent movie producer contacted me and likes the concept of LDS (The Legendary Dark Silhouette). Anyway, I mailed him the one and only comic book and if you remember, LDS faces off with Jaduska the dragon and the story ends. Below is the script of LDS enounter with Jaduska. The 3rd part of the script will have LDS going back to his reality, losing his powers, becoming a Punisher/Batman type of character and facing off his attackers that left him for dead at the riverbank. The movie producer has worked with people like John Heard, Ice-T and is friends with Keanu Reeves. He has produced 2 TV documentaries and several independent films. If he approves of the Silhouette movie, it will go straight to DVD. Wish me luck. Also, he actually contacted me first, I didn't contact him and he found me through Jazma Online! Here is the 2nd script: SCRIPT: The Legendary Dark Silhouette (LDS): (Thinking to himself): Oh, man, I just get finished with my training by the Gunliks and now I have to fight some crazy dragon named Jaduska? Come on Apaullo, it's only a dragon, maybe it's one of those Komoto dragons...I can handle that. LDS faces Jaduska as Jaduska comes out of his cave: LDS speaking: Oh crap, this is one big dragon! But, how can one dragon be a threat to all of Mageline? Jaduska bellows out intense fire from his mouth upon LDS. LDS brushes off the intense fire, positions himself and discharges cosmic rays from his palms upon the dragon. LDS flies circles around the dragon and the dragon takes flight. LDS pursues the dragon - the dragon pursues LDS. In the sky, there is aerial combat, with fire, with cosmic rays. LDS finds his body burned with 3rd degree burns, but while flying he notices that he is healing at an incredible rate of speed and before he knows it, he is completely healed. The etheral images of the other Silhouettes appear before LDS and tell him to face his attacker and fully discharge his cosmic energy from his eyes and his palms upon the dragon. LDS stops mid-air, faces the dragon and does a full blown discharge from his eyes and his palms. The dragon falls to the ground and makes a squeeching sound that is incredibly loud. Jaduska squirms on the ground for awhile and lies motionless. LDS thinks to himself: Did I just defeat him? Man, that was too easy! Jaduska then raises slowly. LDS: Oh crap, not again. Jaduska slowly starts pealing the flesh off his body. LDS: This can't be happening! After the flesh is peeled, Jaduska stands in front of LDS, he is 20 feet high and he is one incredibly hidious looking demon with huge horns. LDS facing Jaduska. LDS speaks: "You're not mad are you?" Jaduska speaks: You have been foretold in prophesy, but I will defeat you and display your head to the minions of Mageline. You will be slime underneath my feet. LDS speaks: I don't know your shoe size, but you do have some large feet! Well, like they say...'let's get ready to ruuuuumble!" LDS thinks to himself: I got him to blink...well, I hope. Jaduska discharges an energy force upon the countryside and the whole countryside becomes molten lava. Villages are destroyed. Gunliks are screaming from the villages. LDS thinks to himself: I see how Jaduska is a threat to Mageline and I must stop him now! LDS cries out: I need help from you other Silhouettes and I need you now!! The other Silhouettes appear. One of them speaks. "The three of us, can combine our cosmic powers and discharge our energies against Jaduska. Prepare our powers.....DISCHARGE!! LDS and the 2 other Silhouettes combined, discharge their cosmic powers against Jaduska. Jaduska explodes!! Jaduska then reassembles into a million little tiny demons and they strike back at all 3 of the Silhouettes using vibrating energy, disturbing the energy fields of the etheral Silhouettes, making them vanish and causing LDS to fall from the sky. The million little demons then discharge energy into the skies, causing black threatening clouds to roll in, there is thunder, lightning, the earth tremors and black angels with black wings come out of the crevaces of the earth. Jaduska speaks: The dark angels are my legion and they will assist me in finishing up my fight with you LDS. LDS looks upon the clouds and sees meteors hitting the countryside and wonders to himself....."what's next?" LDS thinks to himself: "If I have cosmic powers...perhaps I can heighten my cosmic powers if I fly straight to the border of outerspace and absorb the cosmic powers of this universe?" LDS does exactly that, he does a beeline flight and as he reaches outerspace, he mentally thinks of absorbing all of the cosmic powers near and around him in this vastness of space. He feels the power, the power wants to discharge and he immediately heads back. He faces the dark angels and the millions of Jaduska demons, they discharge vibrating powers on LDS, trying to knock him out of the sky. LDS tumbles and falls and then straightens himself back up and faces them and releases an incredible amount of cosmic energy on the demons and dark angels. LDS speaks: "I will carpet bomb you all!" The demons and dark angels fall and LDS places his hands into the soil and discharges more cosmic energy and all of the molten lava hardens, imprisoning the millions of Jaduska demons and dark angels and they all appear to be solid stone. From the countryside he hears the cheering of the Gunliks! The Gunliks hail him as a hero and he looks upon Obolisk, the leader of the Gunliks and says: Obolisk, I must head back to my world and take care of some unfinished business, I will be back. Obolisk: LDS, you must do what is necessary, but remember in your own world, you will no longer have the powers that you have here in Mageline. LDS: What, I won't have powers? Damn! Well, I still need to take care of the guys who left me for dead on that riverbed, I feel agile enough to be able to handle them. I have to go back, but I promise I will return! _________________________________________________________________ ----------------------------------------------------------------- [3] [TRIVIA CONTEST] Due to costs, customs regulations, and logistical difficulties: THIS CONTEST IS OPEN TO RESIDENTS OF THE CONTIGUOUS 48 U.S.STATES! His website for his comic imprint is www.shandafantasyarts.net ] WHEN YOU GET DOWN TO IT, NEW YORK CITY ISN'T REALLY THAT BIG Everyone knows NYC is the home of the BAXTER BUILDING, headquarters of the FANTASTIC FOUR. In 1968 the Big Little Book THE FANTASTIC FOUR IN THE HOUSE OF HORRORS was published. In it, the FF receives a challenge from Dr. Weird to visit him in his House of Horrors. When the Thing asks about this edifice, Reed says "It's an old mansion at the edge of town." On the opposite page, Mr. Fantastic is shown looking out the window of the Baxter Building (located in midtown Manhattan) and about three blocks away is a deserted countryside hill with a haunted house atop it. _________________________________________________________________ ----------------------------------------------------------------- [4] Network Buzz News, gossip and rumors from the industry THE SUMMER HEATS UP FOR ARCHIE & HIS FRIENDS! Based on the award-winning graphic novel Artesia and released in December 2005, Artesia: Adventures in the Known World (ISBN: 1-932386-10-6, $39.95, 352 pages, full-color, 8.5" x 11") has already garnered praise and a growing legion of fans and is sure to gain even more notice with the nomination. "Artesia: Adventures in the Know World was essentially a labor of love," said Mark Smylie, creator of Artesia and both writer and artist of the roleplaying game. "Developing this was something I wanted to do for a long time. When I created the comic book I envisioned her world as one into which gamers could breathe a different sort of life. I've found it extremely rewarding to hear the positive response from players and reviewers and to see it nominated for an Origins Award alongside games by such stalwart publishers as White Wolf and Eden." Using a modified and easy-to-use Fuzion-based roleplaying system as well as an adaptation of R. Talsorian Games' LifePath character-generation system, Artesia: Adventures in The Known World takes players into the strife-riven realms of the Known World, where war and magic, fantasy and mysticism take center stage as religions, warlords and empires vie for power. More on the game can be found at http://www.theknownworld.com/main.html. ** "Artesia is a must for fans of the comics and is requisite reading and play for hard-core fans of truly epic high fantasy...It is probably one of the most amazing RPGs ever made." --James Mishler, Scrye Magazine ** "A beautifully produced RPG with an innovative, elegant game system and an excellent fantasy background...Artesia: Adventures in the Known World starts out with a well-developed, and deep game world [and] supplements that with a solid game system that's well thought-out and elegant. Style: 5 (Excellent!) Substance: 5 (Excellent!)"-- Shannon Appelcline, www.RPG.net ** "Well built on Mike Pondsmith's Fuzion System, this may well be the most gorgeous game book I saw all year." -- Kenneth Hite, GamingReport.com ** "Artesia: Adventures in the Known World is quite a product, with high production quality. The art is superb...this is an impressive campaign guide, a shining example of essentially a one-man design team who has mastered role-playing games as well as comics. Fans of the comic or just those appreciative of games that focus on cultural, religious, and political intrigue definitely have a treasure trove of options here. Take a look and see what the new age may hold." --Wayne Tonjes, www.GamingReport.com ** "A wonderful, unique, easy-to-play alternative to other fantasy games." --Michael May, PopThought.com The Academy of Adventure Game Art & Design, consisting of people of the game development community, initially reviews a broad selection of the year's best products and shortlists them for various categories in the Origins Awards. Academy experts score their category nominees from 1 (least deserving) to 5 (most). All scores from all members are totaled. The products with the highest vote totals for each award win the designated Origins Award. Between now and May 30, 2006 the general public can also place their votes for the Gamers' Choice Awards. Winners of the 32nd Annual Origins Awards will be announced at the Origins Game Expo in Columbus, OH on Thurs, Jun 29.
