Help Diamond Promote FCBD Creator Appearances at Your Store In 2005, scores of creators fanned out across the globe to interact with fans old and new on Free Comic Book Day. Now, with FCBD 2006 - May 6 - less than two months away, Diamond is ready to spread the word about creator appearances at participating stores, and is looking for retailer input to make it happen! Creators are celebrities - whether you get the latest, hottest artist or the local writer whose new comic is shipping soon, having a comic book creator in your store makes the event more festive and serves as a draw for fans and newcomers alike. For the "big names," potential customers will be intrigued that they can meet the creator behind a big, well-known property. And for local creators who may not have hit the big- time yet, local pride carries through - your neighbors will be thrilled to meet the star-in-the-making among them! A creator appearance also makes the event more newsworthy. In addition to attracting more customers, you'll also attract more press attention, as local TV and print media will be more likely to cover the story of a popular creator's visit to your town or the tale of a local creator "done good." If you have a creator appearance planned for your store on May 6, contact us today at info@freecomicbookday.com with "FCBD CREATOR SIGNING" in the subject header, and let us know the details! Your store will get listed on the special, upcoming Creator Signings page of www.FreeComicBookDay.com, sending countless potential consumers to your store in search of free comics and your special guests on May 6! To see the list of last year's creator appearances for FCBD, see the FCBD archive online at http://www.freecomicbookday.com/creator_signing_2005.asp. Acclaimed as today's most consistently entertaining humor/adventure series, Soulsearchers & Company features super- hero epics with a saucy, sophisticated tone. The series showcases the lives of a motley group of ghostbusters in a city that's become synonymous with paranormal overactivity, the small Connecticut township now nicknamed FEAR CITY. The gang includes: Bridget, a former Olympic athlete; Baraka, a fire-demon from an Arabic Hell; Janocz, a gypsy teen who can transform into monstrous forms, Kelly, an apprentice witch, and Peter P. Peterson, an accountant with a magic bag. Soulsearchers & Company is a major ongoing comics achievement, from the award-winning scripting talents of Peter (Young Justice, Spyboy) David, with delightfully different artwork from Amanda (Gatecrasher, Vampirella) Conner, Neil (Superman Adventures) Vokes, and Jim (Spider-Man) Mooney, with additional sequence art by John Heebink, Ricardo Villagran, and Michael Weaver. This hugely engaging collection features issues #7-12 of the Soulsearchers' monthly comic, including the three-part "Toadies" saga, in which the SS group breaks up, only to find that their separate paths each lead them into conflict with the Cult of Drek and its leader, the Schlockmeister. "The Weirdest Link," an album issue, recounts some of the members' early highlights, including Baraka's ouster from Hell, and then there's the matter of the mutated creatures living in Mystic Grove harbor, and the spectacle of Bridget and Baraka's first real date ("A Date that Will Live in Infamy!").
