Surrounded by lakes and acres of lush green forest, Seattle
offers a perfect mix of urban attractions and outdoor recreation. Grab a latte
and get ready to see the sights.
Seattle is of course the home of the Space Needle, but the
Underground makes a big attraction too -- and I don't mean the subway system.
The Pike Place Market is also a big draw for nine million visitors a year. And
for music lovers, your best bet is the Experience Music Project for a great
concert and a stroll down memory lane.
Median income -- $45,736
Median house value -- $259,600

| Seattle Underground Tour
206-682-3705
When the Great Fire of Seattle
leveled most of the city in 1889, many of the city's existing problems
were addressed with a radical plan. The fact that the city was built on
mud-flats, along with a sticky problem of erupting sewage pipes, led to
the idea of raising the city up a level and leaving the past 15 feet
underfoot. The hour and a half tour provides you the opportunity to
descend into the subterranean city. |
