Acapulco, Mexico

There is no doubt that the magic -- and lure -- of Acapulco begins with its beautiful beaches of golden sand, warm water and exotic palm trees. Every conceivable type of water sport is offered and when you factor in the natural environment of the city, you know that Acapulco is all about the outdoors. So when you're done playing on the beach, check out how the other natives (the aquatic birds and animals) live in their tropical forests, lagoons, bays or fruit tree houses. If all you see when you look out your window is white and you're dreaming of green, now's the perfect time to book your getaway to Acapulco.

The Top 8 Attractions of Acapulco

Pie de la Cuesta

Located 10 kilometers northeast of Acapulco, Pie de la Cuesta, is known internationally for its spectacular sunsets. Located on the open ocean, its waves are very strong and tumultuous. Sometimes you can even spy whales and dolphins swimming by.

La Quebrada 744-483-1400

A cliff more than 60 meters high where waves from the sea crash into the cove. Here you can view sunsets, but, more importantly, watch the daredevil cliff divers diving 45 meters to meet those waves.

Museo Fuerte de San Diego 744-482-3828

The Fort of San Diego houses the historic museum of Acapulco made up of 13 permanent exhibition rooms and temporary exhibition rooms. The best place to learn all about the city.

Punta Diamante

This neighborhood overlooks the "C" shaped bay located in the original Acapulco.

Caleta y Caletilla

These two beaches became the center of entertainment and fun for movie stars during the 50s and 60s. Protected naturally by Roqueta Island which blocks out the Pacific currents, giving the beaches calm waves and shallow waters; ideal for families with young beachgoers.

La Roqueta

The reason to visit Roqueta Island is to see the glass-bottomed boat, allowing you to view the marine wildlife of the bay and the submerged image of the Virgin of the Seas, saint of the fisherman, located on one side of the rocky island called Yerbabuena.

Magico Mundo Marino (Magic Marine World) 744-483-1215

This theme park has a substantial aquarium, restaurants, pools, museums and other family entertainment.

Plaza Bahia & Oceanic 2000 Plaza 744-485-6939

These two shopping centers are filled with boutiques selling designer clothing, leather goods, gold and silver jewelry and more.
