Greetings, Subscriber! It's time to beat back the winter blues. While we still have snow blowing around, have a look at our Tree of the Week feature. For the next six weeks, we'll feature different flowering trees to brighten your day. So sit back, relax and enjoy the photos & descriptions of these great ornamental trees. This week's pick is Jack Pear, a wonderful dwarf version of the flowering Pear tree.

Spring savings on your new shade trees - 15% off Autumn Blaze through March 20th!

We got excited about Autumn Blaze Maples - it's a fabulous shade tree! But, we overplanted and I really don't want to count them when inventory time comes. Now through March 20th, save 15% on 2-, 2 1/2- and 3-inch trees*, while supplies last. Phone in your order, or come to look in person. Either way, mention this email for your exclusive savings; we'll let you know when they're ready to plant.

Garden Tip!

  • The latest ice storm may have caused some damage to the branches of your trees and shrubs. Take a walk around your yard and inspect your plants for broken or torn limbs. Branches left hanging may fall off and damage additional limbs, or they may tear off and damage the trunk.

Wherever possible, cut off broken (yet hanging) branches. If a branch has completely fallen off on its own, try to identify where it came from. Look at the trunk to see if the tear was "clean, " meaning that it did not leave a small stump at the trunk. If there is a stump, or torn bark, use a pruning saw or pruning shears to make a clean cut and repair any damage.

  • The ice also probably flattened the ornamental grasses in your gardens. If so, go ahead and cut the grass to the ground, as you would normally do next month.

That's it for now! Thanks for reading, and we'll see you again soon. We'll be happy to answer whatever questions you have about your landscape. And be sure to call soon to take advantage of that Maple special!

Until next time,

Christina
