Choking Game Updates

On-going newscasts, and incidences continue to release information to the general population. Yet, youth continue to be injured, and in worse cases, meet their demise by participating in this adolescent sensation seeking activity. Education obviously has not yet become widespread beyond a reactive response.  Although, there are communities taking a proactive, preventative approach to education.  These communities should be held as examples, both neighboring and nationwide, for their commitment in protecting our children. There were 9 reported deaths/injuries in June and July 2006.  Our deepest sympathies go out to these families. A preliminary survey of 6th- 10th Graders and their knowledge of The Choking Game shows 50% of the boys surveyed have participated.  Of those OVER 60% admit to playing alone. Here are the latest updates: Parents of victims have voiced a major issue with the Medical Examiner rulings of their cases.  If you have a ruling you feel is incorrect, please visit the Message Board and post your issues. Parents/ families who've had their rulings corrected are there to help with tips on how to educate officials and get correct rulings. Your posting can remain anonymous if need be. We have added personality to the victims page.  Parents of victims may now add a picture and a brief bio of their child. These are not only victims, they are our children! Advertisement Feedback, Information & Credits Feedback:  Children Saved by Education: "My name is Rebecca and my son is 6 years old.   His name is Dillon.   I came across your site in looking for information on this “choking game”.    My son was taught how to do this yesterday by an older child at the Boys and Girls Club and luckily was caught.   He had already turned blue and had his own hand prints imbedded on his throat.  He apparently just cannot understand the wrongness in this.    I wanted to thank you for all the information on your site.   I’ve printed a lot of it to go home and show him as all the talking with him yesterday he just couldn’t understand as the older boy told him he would just “fall asleep” and even with explaining the possibility of death to him he just couldn’t grasp how serious this is.   I’m sure that it will make more sense to him when I can show him photos of a beautiful young boy who lost a life all too young by doing what he thinks “isn’t that wrong” and should be “fun” as the other boy told him.    Thank you so much for the information and the personal stories, I am sure you are helping people everywhere be able to prevent their own children from this horrible “game”.  I know I didn’t know much about it and was floored that my little boy would even be exposed to something like that at such a young age.   You’ve provided me with so much information!  Thank you!
