Article: Lay Down Your Life…? (Note: Please keep an open mind while reading this. I hope you will find value in this article, whatever your religious beliefs may or may not be – and I’m not here to change those…) So… I’m listening to this story the other day about a guy we all know (to some degree or another), and He says… “There is no greater love than this – to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” There are, of course, a variety of translations, but they all boil down to the same idea: The greatest act of love is to be willing to die for those you love. Wow. He sure sets the bar high. Whatever you may think of Jesus, or who you believe He is/was, if you read any of His teachings, you’d be hard pressed to argue against the fact that He made a lot of sense. So what do we make of this statement? If I really want to show love to others, I need to die…?!? Well, after all, it is also suggested that it is only in dying that we truly live. Man, this is some harsh teaching! Unless… Consider that we aren’t really talking about death in terms of what we call death – as in the end of this physical life. Rather, what is meant is the death of the small thinking self that keeps us preoccupied with selfish things – the part that is crippled by fear. Some would call it the ego. No need to get technical – you could just as easily call it Gus. (No offense to any Guses on the list.) Whatever you call it, it is that part of you that is blocking you from the unlimited abundance you deserve – as well as from the spectacular service you could provide. Hmmm… it is blocking you from being of service… So… if you were to lay down that life – surrender that part – let it die… …it would benefit others… including your friends. What great things could you achieve if not for fear? Sometimes, we block ourselves from overcoming our fear and achieving success with the excuse that it would just be selfish anyway, so that would be wrong. But… it wouldn’t be. Your success – your joyful experience of abundance – is beneficial to all – because it likely means you are sharing your gifts and talents with the world. So… if you have been stubbornly refusing to let go of your fears on the noble basis that it would be selfish to do so for your own personal gain, could you do it for others…? Could you sacrifice your limiting beliefs and fears for the benefit of the world at large? Basically, could you lay down your “life” for your friends? After all, there could be no greater act of love. (Another Note: I make no claims that my interpretations of spiritual teachings are accurate – I just hope they might be useful.) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- II. Tapping Transcription: Releasing Pain Many folks have requested a tapping sequence for physical discomfort. Here is a sequence for a sore knee you can use – simply replace “knee” with whatever part of your body is bothering you. (Side of the hand) Even though I’ve got this pain in my knee, I deeply and completely Love and accept myself, Even though I’ve got this pain in my knee, I deeply and completely Love and forgive myself, Even though I’ve got this pain in my knee, And I just can’t get on top of it, Nothing seems to be helping, And it’s really bothering me, And its been bothering me for sometime, And I’m really sick of it, I’m sick of this pain, I don’t know what it’s about, I don’t know why I’m holding on to it, Or why I need to, And chances are, I don’t need to, If there’s a lesson I need to learn, Then by all means bring it on, But I don’t need to have my knee go out, I choose to feel good, I deserve to feel good, If there’s something I need, Then I’m willing to have it, But I don’t need this pain, I don’t need the knee pain, And I’m willing to let it go now, And even though I’ve got this knee pain, I deeply and completely, Love and forgive and accept myself, And anyone else, Who’s been a real pain in my knee, (Eyebrow Point) All this pain, (Side of Eye) This pain in my knee, (Under Eye) This pain in my knee, (Under Nose) All this knee pain, (Under Mouth) All this knee pain, (Collarbone Point) All this knee pain, (Under Breast) All this knee pain, (Under Arm) All this knee pain, (Top of Head) All this knee pain, (Eyebrow Point, Opposite Side) All this knee pain, (SE) All this pain, (UE) All this pain, (UN) Why do I need it? (UM) Why am I holding on to it? (CB) What’s it all about? (UB) Maybe something happened. (UA) And I had a knee-jerk reaction. (TH) And it stayed in my knee, (EB) I’ve been carrying it around in my knee, (SE) I can’t get on top of it, (UE) And I can’t get under it, (UN) ‘Cause it’s too hard to bend my knee, (UM) All this pain, (CB) I can let it go, (UB) I deserve to feel good, (UA) I choose to feel good, (TH) It’s safe to feel good, (EB) If there’s something I need to learn, (SE) Some message I was supposed to hear, (UE) I choose to hear it, (UN) Way down in my knee, (UM) It’s too far away to hear, (CB) I choose to get the message clearer, (UB) Without any pain, (UA) I choose to comfortably know what I need to know, (TH) It’s safe to comfortably know what I need to know, (EB) I deserve to know what I need to know, (SE) Without any pain, (UE) Without any discomfort, (UN) I choose to feel good, (UM) I deserve to feel good, (CB) Breathing in health and wellbeing, (UB) Breathing out discomfort and pain, (UA) Letting myself heal, (TH) Gratefully healing, Take a deep breath. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------- IV. Closing Quotation I’ve been compelled to read this one to a number of clients this week (I have it framed on my wall), so it felt appropriate to put it in the newsletter today – and ties in nicely with the article, I think. There's nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. (Now, before I get any corrections… Yes, this is by Marianne Williamson. It is from her book, “Return to Love.” For the first couple of years after hearing it, I was under the impression, like many folks, that it came from Nelson Mandela’s Inaugural speech. Apparently, it didn’t. Even Marianne, who has been asked about this, doesn’t know how it came to be attributed to him. Oh well… now you know who said it.) ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- VI. Reminder Item Perhaps you've read my article called Manifestation 101, which SelfGrowth.com also distributed. The manifestation steps are: 1. Create It 2. Clear It 3. Live It 4. Let Go (& Let God) To go along with that, here is a collection of affirmations from abundance experts John Randolph Price and Catherine Ponder. I recommend you print these out and post them where you will read them each morning. Nothing is too good to be true. Nothing is too wonderful to happen. Nothing is too good to last. My conscious awareness of the Divine Presence as my supply is my supply. I am now consciously aware of the indwelling fountain of overflowing abundance. Therefore, I AM abundant supply. My consciousness is the very energy of money. I AM the Spirit of Infinite Plenty. I am boundless abundance, and with love in my heart, I let the universal riches stream forth into perfect manifestation. What is expressed in love must be returned in full measure. Therefore, wave after wave of visible money supply flows to me now. I am wonderfully rich in consciousness, and I am bountifully supplied with money. I now realize my plan for abundant living. There is always an abundance of money, and I now let it come to me. I am open to receive. I cannot be limited, for I am the Shining Sun of Supply, and God’s wealth fills my world. I am receiving. I am receiving now. I am receiving all the wealth that the universe has for me now. I do not depend on persons or conditions for my good. God is the source of my supply and God provides his own amazing channels of good to me now. All that is mine by divine right now comes to me speedily, richly, freely and easily. I am receiving now. It is finished. It is done. I give thanks that I have received, and that my good appears in rich appropriate form under divine timing.
