Planning a New Year Eve's Party

The first thing you want to do in planning any party is setting the
date, of course it's New Year's Eve, but you sure don't want to have a
big party planned and end up spending it with your tv or curling up
with a book!

Make sure to call everyone you would like to spend New Year's Eve with
to make sure they are available. (Just because I may not have any
other plans, doesn't mean they don't!)

I would not suggest relying on snail mail if your party goers have
access to email. But, don't always rely on email either! I think the
best way is to pick up the phone, and forget the formal invitations!
Make sure you tell them if they can bring a guest, or not! You may not
have enough goodies for a lot of unexpected guests.

As for the food serving, I would keep it real casual instead of having
them all sit at the table in a certain place. Make it sort of a buffet
style where everyone can help their selves. That way they can mix and
mingle with each other, and will not feel quite so awkward.

Here are a few suggestions on what to serve:

Nachos and salsa
Pretzels
chips
Nuts
Vegetable and dip
Chicken wings
Mini pizzas
Pigs in a blanket
An assortment of cheeses

You could cook these yourself, but it is a lot easier to just get them
already made up, and save yourself some stress and mess!

A really neat thing is to just ask everyone to bring one food item to
the New Year's Eve party, and to find out what each person is bringing.
You can even just ask each one to bring one certain item and you can
have everything covered that way! If you are having alcohol at your
party, have each person bring something different. If you are just
having soda or such, do the same thing! That is my preference!

Now the best thing, (other than everyone else supplying the food or
drinks is, to use paper plates, plastic cups, paper napkins, anything
disposable! You want to have fun don't you??

Make sure to have some music on hand. Just make sure you have music to
dance by and to make sure to have some slow music for those lovers out
there! (Or wanna be lovers!)

If you do serve alcohol, make sure no one drives home drunk. Let them
stay the night, or make sure they have a designated driver that
drinks no alcohol!
