It can be an ebook, a step-by-step video, or even a membership. Alright, that part is pretty clear. The next step is choosing a market; this is what most new marketers will have a hard time deciding on. Some will tell you to develop a product on a latest trend. That can work, very well in fact, but if it isn't a market you're the least bit familiar with, you'll end up wasting your time trying to learn the market inside and out. So your best bet is to pick a market that's familiar to you. Some simply won't follow the proven path. They might choose a market they have no experience with. Doing that will increase their risk of failure because they simply don't belong there. Customers will easily detect this and you'll probably see more refunds than sales. The correct thing to do if you do choose an unfamiliar market is to outsource. It isn't cheap for a new marketer, but it can be done. Other new marketers will say they have no ideas in their head what so ever. That's nuts. Everyone will always have something to teach, and there will always be someone else who wants to learn. Don't believe me? Then let's get on with market research. I'll show you my number one place where I find new ideas every day. First, head over to About.com. Check it out for a few minutes to become familiar with it. You'll be back here again and again. Chances are you've already been to a page made by About.com. Now, on the main page, notice the navigation on the left with all the categories. Click on first button under the list called "Browse By Topic". Now in front of you, you've got a new list of product ideas, a through z. Some of these markets might not be specific enough. Maybe you don't want to create a product on Adventure Travel. Cheap Adventure Travel might be a smaller market, easier for you to reach. Of course this is just an example, and I don't know that for a fact. Navigate your category until you're familiar with what's being talked about. Plane tickets, kayak tours, river rafting, you name it. Those are all in your market. What type of product can you create for people looking for these topics? Your next step is to figure out what type of a product you'll make. One of the easiest ways with a high perceived value is a video course. I recommend Camtasia Studio by Techsmith for creating a screen capture and audio recording so you can teach what you're doing on your computer. You would then use the software to record yourself looking for or purchasing great deals for cheap adventure travel plans, or something similar, for example. Upload your new course to your website, get some traffic to your site, and that's about all there is to it. Finding a product idea isn't hard. Don't make that an excuse. Pick an idea, create your product, and work on promoting it. You'll be much farther ahead of all the failing marketers out there that never get anywhere because they don't take action.
