This is a very worthy cause we were recently contacted by Broken Rainbow about
helping to find trans models who would be prepared to be made up for a domestic
violence poster as they currently use stock image and need a trans person as
part of their campaign - expenses and i think a small fee will be available -

Bulling against disabled people is a growing problem, groups say
Inciting hatred against disabled people is to be outlawed under government
plans outlined in the Queen's Speech.
It will be added to proposals announced last month to make it a crime to incite
hatred against gay, lesbian and transgender people.

Laws against religious hate crime were passed last year but were watered down
amid concerns over freedom of speech.

David Congdon, of Mencap, said it made sense to extend the law to cover people
with disabilities.

East Market Street at 1pm and finishes in Pilrig Park where there will be
stalls and live music.

The General Medical Council (GMC) today declared that the UK's top expert on
transsexualism inappropriately rushed patients into sex changing treatments.

Its inquiry into the consultant psychiatrist Dr Russell Reid found that he gave
five patients hormones too soon and referred them for genital surgery without
an adequate assessment of their health or proof that they were transsexuals.

The GMC disciplinary panel said Dr Reid's treatment of the patients, referred
to only as B, C, D, E and F, was inappropriate, not in their best interests and
in breach of international guidelines on the treatment of transsexuals.

The panel is due to announce later this week whether the findings amount to
serious professional misconduct. If Dr Reid is found guilty, he could face

A leading gender charity has criticised employers for rarely giving much
thought to how difficult a gender transition can be for their employees.

Not long before the Gender Equality duty (GED) comes into force, the Gender
Trust has said that employers are often surprised what a turbulent process
changing gender can be.

The GED will place a duty on public authorities to eliminate unlawful
discrimination and harassment of transsexual people in employment and
vocational training.

Public authorities must also apply this obligation to the provision of goods,
facilities and services, and in the disposal and management of premises from

A TRANSSEXUAL has been told she cannot attend women-only sessions at council
leisure venues or use female changing facilities, despite her now being defined
as a woman on doctors' records.

Yvonne Rhodes, 52, of Crabbs Cross, has been living as a woman since last year

Jan. 15   From an early age, Margaux Ayn Schaffer   who was born male
identified as a girl. And from an early age, she was threatened for not
conforming to her socially assigned gender.

Schaffer recalls that in the eighth grade, she was beaten up by her peers at
school, and that once, later in life, a group chased her from a train station.

"When I went to the security, they just said,  You should learn how to fight,
and they were laughing at me," Schaffer said. Now 48, Schaffer is a
male-to-female transsexual.

An NHS Trust is to cut funding to gender transition as part of a move to limit
non-essential operations in the area.

Hounslow (a UK London Borough) Primary Care Trust has announced that from April
2007, anyone seeking NHS support for medical services such as gender
reassignment, tattoo removal, or breast enhancements will have to pay for it
themselves.

Its is believed that the change will mean a reduction in hospital waiting
times.

Other services that face the axe are IVF, however, there will be a consultation

Suffolk strangler suspect Steve Wright could be questioned over a total of ten
murders, the UK press report today.

The 48-year-old fork-lift truck driver became the prime suspect for the murders
of five prostitutes in Ipswich after the discovery of key DNA evidence and CCTV
footage allegedly linking him to some of the victims.

Police did not rule out that the former QE2 chef may also be quizzed over five
murders in the area dating back 14 years.

November is a sad day for many.

A day when we think of others.

The Transgender Day of Remembrance is held in November to honour Rita Hester,
whose murder in 1998 kicked off the  Remembering Our Dead  web project and a
San Francisco candlelight vigil in 1999. Since then, the event has grown to
encompass memorials in dozens of cities across the world.

She was 75.

Star of the famous Le Carrousel nightclub in Paris in the 1950s at the time
when April Ashley and Amanda Lear were also there.

She was hailed as the first TS woman in France to undergo SRS with Dr Burou in
Casablanca in 1958.
