******* In Style??™s Your Look, a quarterly offshoot aimed at style-obsessed 16- to 20-year-olds, will have the same mix of beauty and fashion news and inspiration as the Time Inc. mother ship. But, as the title suggests, Your Look also recognizes young people want to be the inspirers, too. To that end, it will invite readers to upload their own fashion photos on the magazine??™s Web site or MySpace profile for possible inclusion in the magazine. Readers also will be encouraged to share their own photos and videos on Your Look??™s Web site. Your Look is seen as a way to create future buyers of the 1.8 million circulation In Style, which Lynette Harrison, publisher of Your Look and In Style, said captures very few youthful readers. Launching March 2, Your Look plans to deliver a 400,000 rate base by sending the first four issues to existing 16- to 20-year-old subscribers of In Style and former subscribers to the erstwhile Teen People. Your Look also will distribute 425,000 copies on the newsstand at a cover price of $3.49. ???This is really the first of our brand extensions that has a very strong real-people element,??? said Harrison. ???For this audience, it??™s absolutely critical to feel that their voice is being heard.??? The choice of celebs, price points and an experimental, fun approach to beauty in the pages of the magazine also will reflect the sensibilities of younger readers. MORE ONLINE

Dennis Publishing, publisher of Maxim, Stuff, Blender and The Week, announced today that it has put its stable of titles on the block, retaining media investment firm Allen & Co. to explore strategic alternatives. The sale includes all 31 international editions of Maxim, from the U.K. to France, Russia to South America, as well branded licensing deals with the casino in Las Vegas, as well U.S.-based steakhouses, lounges and fashion bedding. While Maxim and sibling Stuff paved the way during the laddie phase in the late ??™90s, the category has matured in recent years, with the titles experiencing slower growth. Maxim??™s total paid and verified circ was flat at 2.5 million in last year??™s second half, according to the Audit Bureau of Circulations. Newsstand sales dropped 12.2 percent. As for Stuff, its total paid and verified circ fell 4.8 percent to 1.25 million, missing its rate base of 1.3 million. Single-copy sales plunged 34.9 percent. Ad pages, however, are up at Maxim. Through March, Maxim's ad pages grew 14.9 percent to 147, reports the Mediaweek Monitor. Stuff??™s pages dipped 2.4 percent to 138. Meanwhile, its rivals fared much worse. Emap??™s FHM threw in the towel, folding last December, and former Dennis publisher Jamie Hooper??™s startup. Giant was sold to Radio One for $275,000 and repositioned to serve the urban market.
3. New York Times
Here are two numbers to think about next Sunday night when you are rolling your eyes at the length of time it takes an Oscar winner to say thank you. n January, the Golden Globes drew 20 million television viewers. And within a day of the ceremony, people.com, the Web site of People magazine, drew 39.6 million page views. Page views and television viewers, of course, are not the same thing. Page views refer to the number of clicks on a Web page, and the same person could be clicking many pages. Still, 39.6 million page views is a lot ??” and that was just for the Golden Globes. Imagine what traffic will be like for the Oscars, traditionally the second-biggest television event of the year after the Super Bowl. The pre-Oscar drumbeat seems particularly intense this year as Web sites of the old media have jumped on the bandwagon and begun aggressively courting all those multitaskers who watch television and surf the Web at the same time. People magazine, Vanity Fair (vanityfair.com), The Los Angeles Times (theenvelope.com), Entertainment Weekly (ew.com), E! (www.eonline.com) and many others have dedicated sections of their Web sites to all things Oscar. Many are counting down to an Oscar night with promises of more video, more blogs, more polls for fans, more predictions from experts and more sweepstakes than ever before. ABC, which is broadcasting the awards ceremony and promoting specials with Oprah Winfrey and Barbara Walters, has given the official Oscar Web site (oscar.com) a complete makeover. MORE ONLINE
