Premiere magazine, one of the first entertainment news magazines to cover the inner workings of Hollywood, will fold.

On Monday, Jack Kliger, chief executive of publisher Hachette Filipacchi Media U.S., announced that the April issue of the Los Angeles-based magazine would be the last print edition. Hachette plans to provide daily Hollywood news, interviews and access to video trailers through Premiere.com and Premiere Mobile. The monthly magazine suffered as the number of outlets covering celebrity news mushroomed, both on the Internet and at the newsstand.

"In a transition like this, which is propelled by changes in consumer behavior and the marketplace, it is unfortunate that the necessary adjustments include the discontinuation of the magazine," Kliger said in a statement.

WAL-MART FIRES TECHNICIAN FOR TAPING REPORTER: Wal-Mart on Monday said it fired two information technology executives and disciplined a third for secretly intercepting text messages and recording phone calls made between Wal-Mart public relations associates and The New York Times retail reporter Michael Barbaro.

PREMIERE CANCELED: Hachette Filipacchi Media on Monday pulled the plug on entertainment magazine Premiere, though the company said it is "focusing future investment for its Premiere brand on the Web, in mobile content and in branded events." The April issue will be the last, though international editions of the title will not be affected. Premiere editor in chief/group editorial director Peter Herbst will leave the company. Paul Turcotte, vice president and publisher, entertainment group, will stay at Hachette in a new role to be revealed shortly.

SHUTTERBUG: Karl Lagerfeld is best known as the designer behind Chanel, Fendi and his Lagerfeld Gallery label. He's also spent the last 20 years shooting for magazines ranging from established mainstays like Harper's Bazaar to edgy newcomers like Stephen Gan's V. Now, the International Center for Photography is honoring him on May 14 at its 23rd Annual Infinity Awards at Chelsea Piers. Other winners include William Klein, who's the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award; Ryan McGinley, who's taking the "young photographer" award, and the Gap, which is being heralded for its work in fashion and advertising.
