******* JAIL BIRDS In a completely unchoreographed but timely coincidence, Paris Hilton (and Nicole Richie) will appear in the June issue of Harper's Bazaar under the title "Partners in Crime." The issue, which hits newsstands May 22, will make its debut just days before Hilton is required to report to jail for violating her probation, although she is appealing the 45-day jail sentence. But it gets better. The zebra-clad twosome, who were shot by Peter Lindbergh, were cast as jewelry thieves who have a run-in with the law. "What was tongue-in-cheek at the time turned out to be prescient," said a Bazaar spokeswoman. FULL PLATE Though Gourmet was shut out at the National Magazine Awards last week despite three nominations, it took home two James Beard Foundation Media Awards Sunday night for writing and for its new PBS television show, "Diary of a Foodie." The Cond? Nast food monthly, nominated for six Beards, took home two prizes for magazine feature writing without recipes and for best national television food show. The dinner ceremony was at the Millennium Hudson Hotel, where Gourmet editor in chief Ruth Reichl, sat among famed chefs, critics and foodies. Both the San Francisco Chronicle and Saveur took home two awards; Gourmet contributing editor Colman Andrews won an award for magazine feature writing with recipes for a piece on Ireland he wrote while editor in chief at Saveur. Child contributing editor Colleen Pierce won an award for her piece "Solving the Sugar Crisis," though she said during her acceptance speech that the honor was slightly bittersweet. "On Monday, I found I was nominated for this award, and on Tuesday, I found out my magazine was shutting down." Meredith Corp. said in March that it would fold the title after the June/July issue.

Tabloid queen Bonnie Fuller is preparing her exit from American Media with two years left on her seven-figure contract. The editorial director of supermarket staples such as Star magazine, The National Enquirer and the Globe spent last week in Los Angeles, ostensibly meeting with celebrity entertainment programs to promote her titles. But she was also pitching two personal projects, to be directed by her NYU film student son, according to a source. One is a reality show based on herself and her family; the second is an idea of her son's. The family show concept fits with her '06 memoir: "The Joys of Much Too Much: Go for the Big Life - the Great Career, the Perfect Guy, and Everything Else You've Ever Wanted." (Although let's hope the TV version has a shorter title.) One prospective partner is Star Price Productions, which occupies Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz's old Desilu studio lot in Hollywood. As reported here Thursday, she also met with "Ugly Betty" production company Reveille, which has already featured her on its new game show "Identity." A rep for American Media said he had "no knowledge" of Fuller's TV ambitions.

Isabella Blow, style muse, former fashion director of Tatler and London’s Sunday Times, and one-time assistant to Anna Wintour, has died. The much-revered icon, who had been battling cancer, reportedly passed away suddenly early Monday morning in Gloucester, England. She was 49. One of the industry’s most unconventional personalities, Blow was never without one of her signature hats atop her short dark hair. The headwear, created by her friend and former prot?g? Philip Treacy, ranged from feather headdresses to face masks to a “Blow” headband that she sported last summer on the Zac Posen/Vakko trip to Istanbul. Treacy and Blow met on a fashion shoot in 1989, a chance encounter that spawned countless collaborations and was chronicled in an exhibit at the London Design Musuem, When Philip Met Isabella: Philip Treacy’s Hats For Isabella Blow. Treacy was not the only one to benefit from her fashion vision. In 1993, Blow was so impressed with the degree show of a Central Saint Martin’s graduate that she purchased the entire collection: his name was Alexander McQueen. But however instrumental she had been in McQueen’s career, Blow remained humble. “His [Alexander McQueen’s] success has been really great for my reputation, because if that hadn’t happened, I would have just been an eccentric and gone down the drain,” she told Interview Magazine in 1998. “But I don’t like to say that I ‘discover’ people. That can sound quite pretentious. In my view, the people who will succeed in fashion are the people who know how to cut. And who are sexy.” Blow’s other discoveries included models like Stella Tennant, Honor Fraser, and Sophie Dahl. MORE ONLINE

Seen this week's Life & Style? The Bauer tabloid's cover should clue you in on a big somethin' somethin': They've got major apologizing to do — to Skechers, their high-rollin' advertiser who scored a plug ("This minute's hottest sneakers) on the cover as part of a make good. (Click the image for a larger version.) Why the obvious ethical lapse? Because Bauer is on the verge of losing the account. Sure, you see Skechers ads in nearly every tabloid (and the walls of subway stations), but their relationship with L&S took a turn for the nearly-ruined when it ran a spread on Ashlee Simpson – otherwise known as The Face of Skechers – in their April 30 issue about the pop tart's "new look," with a caption that read: "Ashlee Simpson went back to basics in a comfy pair of black-and-white Vans."
