******* Advertising Age has promoted Allison Price Arden to be its next publisher, succeeding Scott Donaton, who is leaving to become publisher of Time Inc.'s Entertainment Weekly. In her new role, effective Dec. 3, Ms. Arden will oversee all print, digital and event operations for Ad Age and its Crain Communications sibling Creativity. Former associate publisher Ms. Arden has been associate publisher of Ad Age for the past year and before that held posts including general manager of Ad Age Interactive and director of business development and custom programs. She joined Ad Age in 1996 as a sales representative. "We're delighted that Allison has stepped up to be publisher," said Rance Crain, president of Crain Communications and editor in chief of Ad Age, in a statement today. "She has a tremendous history of success at Ad Age, and we can't imagine a better person for the job." MORE ONLINE

After just six months as Redbook's creative director, Jenny Leigh Thompson has parted ways with the magazine, a spokeswoman for the title confirmed. Thompson had come over from Marie Claire, where Redbook editor in chief Stacy Morrison once served as executive editor. Redbook's newsstand has seen double-digit declines in the last three reporting periods — 12.9 percent in the first half of this year, to 244,500; 28.6 percent in the second half of last year, and 20 percent in the first half of last year. Michael Pic?n, who was design director at New York magazine until 2002, will sub in the interim, though a permanent replacement is being sought.

THE Forbes family, which more than a year ago sold a minority stake in its empire to U2 frontman Bono and his associates at Elevation Partners, continues to dismantle the non-media portion of its family owned empire. The latest to go is the family's 171,400-acre Colorado ranch known as the Forbes Trinchera Ranch. It's the largest ranch in the state and traces it roots to the Sangre de Cristo Land Grant of 1843. Malcolm Forbes, the late patriarch of the current generation of Forbes family members who run the company, took over the ranch in 1969. MORE ONLINE

Duties are primarily tasks like online research, calling in products, and returning samples, but an intern may also attend design fairs and events, write copy for the website, and help with photo shoots. The position is unpaid but is a great opportunity to gain contacts in the design and event world, as well as clips and a professional reference. The position begins the first week of January.
