Fourth Annual EA SquareTable Event

Calling all NY Editorial Assistants (and Assistant Editors who still assist). Now's the time to apply to participate in our 4th Annual EA SquareTable Event, to be held on Tuesday, Jan. 15 from 6:30-8:30 pm.

The event brings together EAs from New York-based magazines to discuss their jobs, as well as speak with senior magazine editors on how to succeed and get to the next level. The cost is $20.

The staff writer job will entail: writing celebrity news and current event/pop culture stories; doing service pieces; interviewing celebrities and other newsmakers; and writing features. The candidate will have strong interest in publishing, photography and design. He or she will act as an overall assistant for our art department. There will be additional opportunities to assist with web projects and photo shoots over time. Additional help will be needed for researching stock photography and other general department assistance. The ideal candidate is computer savvy, able to handle multiple tasks, and very organized. Applicants must be proficient in PC and Macintosh platforms and experienced with Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and Quark. Currently, we are looking for full day assistance 2-3 days a week. ...that Good Housekeeping is looking for a photo intern for the Spring 2008 semester. The atmosphere is fun, relaxed, and very educational. Interns will learn about the daily activities of a large-scale magazine. This includes publishing, photo editing, photo research, and photo shoots (and much more). Interns will be primarily responsible for helping the photo team do photo research. However, interns will also be able to visit the in-house studio and go to photo shoots with the editors. In addition, the photo intern will assist the editors in various administrative tasks including contact with photographers worldwide. This is a fantastic opportunity to immerse yourself in the media industry and to gain experience working for a large media conglomerate.
