******* ******* Want to interview celebrities and write juicy stories for a tabloid? Ed presents a four-night seminar with entertainment writer/editor Deborah Baer (she's worked for In Touch, US Weekly, Star, Seventeen, Ladies' Home Journal and more) that will give you the tools to break into the biz. Baer will teach students how to turn their brilliant ideas into entertainment features, write celebrity profiles, improve their interviewing skills — and make $$$ just by watching TV, reading books, listening to music, surfing the Internet and going to the movies. Details:Class meets Wednesdays (February 27, March 5, 12 and 19) from 7-9pm. Cost: $200 To Sign Up: RSVP to edschool@ed2010.com is REQUIRED. You'll get an email back with the PayPal URL. For more information about the class and Deborah, go to http://www.ed2010.com/events/edschool-seminars/list or click here. ******* BTW, Ed doesn't endorse the random non-Ed advertisement you see at the top of the newsletter. ******* New York Fashion Week: Any tricks to staying fresh through what much of the fashion media experiences as an eight-day all-nighter? Four hours sleep [nightly], obscene amounts of junk food and the only trick to staying fresh is being completely in love with what you do, which I am. In fact, during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, work is like being with a bunch of kids at camp. We love it! Describe the different niches filled by The Daily and the monthly Fashion Mini version._The Daily is the insider treat for the fashion show guests -- the media, designers, models, photographers and buyers. Our consumer magazine, Fashion Mini, with its newsstand distribution and subscriber base, also invites bona fide fashion lovers to experience the fashion insiders' world. Now we have a fast-growing readership base in cities like LA, Dallas, Houston, Miami, places where there is a passionate fashion reader and consumer. Ever since 2004 we also deliver fashion news every day to about 200,000 faithful readers, via our Web site FashionWeekDaily.com. In September we introduced Daily video on our site, which we update constantly, and we launched a new blog, Chic Report -- very visual, cheeky, scoopy, and full of surprises. MORE ONLINE

Evan Friedman isn't lazy, just efficient. Why should he slog through newspapers, entertainment guides, restaurant fliers and concert promotions if someone will do it for him? Friedman, a 24-year-old from Los Angeles, subscribes to Thrilllist.com, which bills itself as a lifestyle guide for men. It keeps him in the know with daily e-mails that advise him, basically, on how to be cool. He has dined at restaurants it suggested, attended events it plugged and purchased gadgets it recommended, including a cover for his iPhone. "It's a trusted break in my barrage of e-mail," Friedman said. "It's kind of like an e-mail from a friend." MORE ONLINE
3. WWD
THREE'S COMPANY: Though it may seem like fashion week is the only game in town, today marks the convergence in New York of more than one disparate world: New York's primary vote in an all-bets-off election and, downtown, the ticker tape parade for the Giants after their win in the Super Bowl. (It's also Fat Tuesday, but odds are fashion week regulars won't indulge.) For editors who already bemoan the stresses of bouncing between Bryant Park, Chelsea and downtown shows, will the polling site and the parade be one more stop? WWD caught up with some of them, and found more than a few multitasking. "What's important about this collection — I mean, election," began More editor in chief Lesley Jane Seymour. "Oops. Well, you can use that." Joanna Coles, editor in chief, Marie Claire: "I'm planning to do it all. I can't vote, as I don't yet have my citizenship [she's British], but I'm going to four Super Tuesday parties. I have a lot of British political journalist friends in town for it, so I'm planning to see them first, then drive by the victory parade, as my sons wouldn't forgive me if I didn't, and then, of course, off to see Diesel, Behnaz, Narciso and William Rast, and will wrap up with the Super Tuesday parties. We did photo shoots with both Barack [Obama} and Hillary [Clinton] in my first issue of Marie Claire, and I think they're both awesome." MORE ONLINE
4. New York Post
Niche Media has agreed to take over Philadelphia Style, according to well-placed industry sources, signaling an intensifying battle in the luxury market between Niche and rival Modern Luxury, even as the economy softens. The bi-monthly magazine with a circulation of 70,000 is the first acquisition since November, when Jason Binn, founder of 15-year-old Niche, sold his company to Las Vegas-based Greenspun Media and merged it with Jerry Powers at Ocean Drive Media in Miami and became CEO of the combined entity. Niche publishes Gotham magazine and LA Confidential. That deal was designed to combine regional luxury-oriented magazines into a national network that could compete with Modern Luxury, which has embarked on an ambitious expansion drive to launch upscale city magazines ever since Clarity Partners bought out Roy Disney's Shamrock Holdings for $250 million last year.
