HOPING FOR SOME ATTENTION: German fashion magazine Achtung arrived for the first time on New York newsstands this week. Markus Ebner, editor in chief, said Achtung will be available in New York twice a year, at $20 per copy. Ebner is bringing the magazine to the U.S, to find a larger audience and make New York aware of what’s happening creatively in the German fashion world. “We wanted to make a magazine which feels German,” he said. “Hence the choice of the coarse paper and the focus on putting high-end fashion in accessible contexts.” The issue has both English and German text and is the 10th to be published (but the first with a color cover). Initially, 1,000 copies have been sent to New York.

WHAT’S IN A NAME?: With a new name, a new editor and an ad rate of $15,000 for a single page — about three-times the original price contemplated — 40,000 copies of the first issue of Eos Class have begun hitting the premium airline’s lounges, its 58 flights a week between New York and London and the mailboxes of its most loyal passengers. The title, originally envisioned as Club 48 Lifestyles, is keeping its focus mostly on its wealthy passengers, in a departure from typical in-flight magazines, including articles in the premier issue on Lady Lynn de Rothschild’s art collection and Broadway producer Bill Haber’s life on- and offstage, the latter with Save the Children.

A year after Swedish publishing giant Bonnier Group acquired Time Inc.'s Time 4 Media operation, unrest still reigns among the newcomers.

According to people familiar with the situation, former Time Inc. employees are still up in arms over the cost-cutting mandates being issued by Bonnier.

Many of the big-name editors who moved to Bonnier when the Time 4 Media and Parenting Group were sold by Time Warner to Bonnier for $220 million have since left - some voluntarily, some suddenly.

An insider at Woman's Day just confirmed a tip sent to FishbowlNY that five staffers on the editorial side have been laid off due to "budget reasons." Our source declined to reveal who had been let go.

We called editor-in-chief Jane Chesnutt for comment but were told by her assistant that she was "in a meeting."
