******* Okay, not that secret a project. BoomTown has known about it forever and Radar Online gave the lowdown about the creation of the hip-sounding news aggregator Web site–headed by high-profile editor Tina Brown (pictured here)–by Barry Diller’s IAC in a report in early April. Think the Huffington Post, but more culture and less political wonkishness in a bolder and more colorful design. While still in its planning stages, though, it just hired a new GM to run the business: Caroline Marks. She was GM of Comcast’s Ziddio, a social video endeavor and was also head of content development for Comcast Interactive. Marks has also worked in several high-profile mobile companies in the U.K. MORE ONLINE

Chris Anderson began his keynote address at the Mediabistro Circus this afternoon by saying: "I was going to take this moment to show you a work in progress. I was going to show you a community we were building. ...On Friday, we heard from the lawyers that the contract has a little hitch in it, and I can't talk about it." So instead of detailing the possibly soon-to-launch social networking site that will change the world, Anderson used his love of aerial robotics to discuss the future. In his spare time, Wired's editor oversees DIY Drones, a micro site devoted to aerial robotics that's built on the Ning platform. Anderson, who admitted his slides were "the ugliest you've ever seen. ... we just won the ASME's for design, you now know who on our staff has nothing to do with design," sees this type of site as the future of social networking. "It is exactly the granularity that this community wants to focus on," he told the attending masses. DIY Drones created community by showing recent activity of its users on the left-hand side of the page. "By putting the latest activity first, we've taken what would have been a static page and added community features," Anderson explained. "Every blog could be a social networking page like this." On the red carpets of L.A. and New York, a celebrity's value is measured in flashes and shouts. In person, the stars' poses look ridiculously unnatural. But they're not intended for the hundreds present at the event; they are posing for the millions out there who will read about it later. Because if they're hot enough, and well dressed enough, one of those flash-lit moments might just end up on the pages of Us Weekly magazine. And on a Manhattan morning, the woman who decides who will be worthy this week arrived at the office. She is editor-in-chief Janice Min, a 38-year-old mother of two and graduate of Columbia University's prestigious journalism school. MORE ONLINE

The new social network, which will go live sometime in the next few months, will be geared for high-ranking female business executives, providing a forum for sharing information and knowledge with colleagues, industry members and those looking to enter particular industries. Similarly, just a few weeks ago Forbes.com introduced the AnswerNetwork platform, designed for C-level executives. Besides enabling corporate ladder climing women to establish profiles and meet other professionals, the network will also feature original Forbes-produced content, including features from the company's ForbesLife Executive Woman magazine. Red Herring's 19 employees were evicted Tuesday from the tech publisher's offices in Belmont, Calif., after it fell behind in rent payments, according to a source close to the situation. Deputies from the San Mateo County Sheriff's Department on Tuesday arrived at around 3 p.m. and gave the staff 30 minutes to leave the premises, said the source, who is not authorized to speak on the matter. A locksmith and the landlord's attorney showed up at the same time to change the locks. Employees were seen trotting back and forth from the office to their cars, hauling PCs and other belongings. The blog Valleywag first reported the eviction. In a phone interview, Red Herring publisher and CEO Alex Vieux acknowledged that the deputies cleared out his staff, but said it was not unexpected and denied not having the money to make rent payments.
