******* High-rise condominiums in Manhattan have been erected in less time than it took In Style magazine to formulate a redesign. For the last year, the top brass at Time Inc. sought to reinvigorate its fashion and celebrity magazine with additions to the top of the masthead — editor at large Ariel Foxman, deputy managing editor Eilidh MacAskill, recruited from the U.K.'s Happy, and creative director Rina Stone, who joined from People — and changes to its covers and editorial sections along the way. But the August issue will bring about a noticeable new look for the 14-year-old title, which has faced intense pressure from both fashion and celebrity competitors. The new look is more modern with a bigger focus on fashion and beauty, demonstrated through bigger pictures, bolder headlines, and new sections including "What's Hot Now" and "Shop It." And there's a go-girl editorial tone with plenty of exclamation points, ellipses and liberal use of the word "love." MORE ONLINE
2. WWD Memo Pad
OK magazine is hoping the rest of the world's fascination with celebrity news won't get lost in translation...into Japanese, that is. OK is embarking on its first Web-only launch of an international edition with Okjapan.jp, which goes live at a yet-to-be-determined date sometime this fall. A teaser site featuring a stream of celeb and designer photos — including shots of Angelina Jolie, Kate Moss, John Galliano and Karl Lagerfeld — is already up and running. The site will be a mix of translated articles from the other 21 editions of OK, plus some new content targeting Japanese readers. Like the other versions of OK, the Japan site will complement its celebrity coverage with features on fashion, beauty, food and travel. Japanese advertising firm 1st Avenue Inc., a part of Japan's TYO Group, struck a licensing deal with OK's owner, Northern & Shell Publications, for the project, which extends beyond the site itself — although not to a printed version of the magazine. Instead, 1st Avenue plans to open an OK-branded cafe and organize a beauty-cum-celebrity contest to tap a new spokesmodel for the online mag. On the more serious side, OK Japan will donate a portion of its revenue to its own foundation fighting world hunger.

Erik Torkells, who resigned as editor of Newsweek Inc.’s Budget Travel, might make his next trip to an online job. “What really interests me is content,” said Torkells, who quit recently without having another job lined up. “I love Budget Travel, but I’m hungry, and I want to do new and innovative things at a company that wants to do new and innovative things. Newsweek [Inc.] is focusing on Newsweek these days.” News of Torkells’ resignation appeared last month on Jaunted.com and was later reported by The New York Post. MORE ONLINE

Rachael Ray may have popularized the term “delish,” but it appears another magazine publisher bought the domain—and now plans to use it. Today, Hearst announced a partnership with MSN to launch Delish.com, a destination food site, this fall. Under the terms of the deal, Delish.com will exist as its own brand, owned and edited by Hearst’s digital media division and distributed by MSN. Hearst is in charge of the design, development and editorial vision of the site; MSN will be responsible for advertising sales and primary distribution of the site’s content through the MSN network, according to the companies.
