******* What's going on in the Harper's Bazaar photo department? Photography and bookings director Olga Liriano, known for her work with Bruce Weber and Peter Lindbergh, among others, is heading out the door after less than two years and without another job lined up. Her departure comes two months after photo editor Jodi Nakatsuka left, also "to pursue other opportunities," in the preferred public relations parlance. A spokeswoman for the magazine said Tuesday afternoon that Zoe Bruns, photography director at Teen Vogue since 2005, would take on both photography and bookings at Bazaar starting Aug. 11, and that Andrea Volbrecht, formerly of Marie Claire, had begun as photo editor on June 9. But things changed again only hours later — Volbrecht quit Tuesday to take up a freelance assignment at Marie Claire, according to the spokeswoman, who attributed the move to Bruns' "assembling her own team at Bazaar." Sources said that at least one more departure is imminent. Go team.

Portfolio.com's fashion blog is back — although with a changing cast of characters. Instead of hiring one writer to cover the beat, the Fashion Inc. blog will feature a number of guest writers with "serious experience in fashion journalism." This week, Lisa Marsh, formerly of the New York Post, has posted entries about Mulberry, Herm?s International and Revlon, among others. The spokeswoman said a few different bloggers will appear throughout the summer, but she declined to comment on what will happen after that. Lauren Goldstein Crowe left her posting duties at Fashion Inc. in March, after her one-year contract expired. At the time, it was unclear how the Web site would cover fashion, with some claiming the magazine didn't want to invest heavily in the category. However, a spokeswoman said at the time: "We will continue to cover fashion aggressively on the Web site — it's too important a business category not to cover. As the site has evolved, our needs have changed."

IT'S shaping up to be the summer of no deals in the world of magazines. The biggest deal not getting done is Us Weekly, as Wenner Media owner Jann Wenner, who was said to be quietly testing the waters to sell the celebrity weekly for a blockbuster price of $750 million, has apparently broken off the talks. "It's not happening," said one insider with knowledge of the discussions. MORE ONLINE

To commemorate its 75th anniversary, the October issue of Esquire will feature a flexible electronic "paper" cover that allows words and images to scroll across it—a first for magazines, according to parent company Hearst. "We decided to dedicate our 75th anniversary issue not to the magazine's past but to our culture's near future," editor-in-chief David Granger said in an interview with FOLIO:. To pull it off, the magazine tapped E Ink, the Cambridge, Massachusetts-based electronic paper display technologies firm that developed the electronic paper display [EPD] technology for Amazon's Kindle and the Sony Reader. The result, Granger said, is "a very literal representation of our theme: 'The 21st Century Begins Now.'" Those words fill flash across the cover of 100,000 copies when it hits newsstands in September. MORE ONLINE

Journalists love to be surprised. We live to find story angles that reek of contradictions. Every once in a while, we're lucky enough to come across something that sounds too good to be true. That happened to me last week, when I got an email that read: "The Nation Introduces News Sex Column." It was so startling; it might as well have arrived in 64-point type. MORE ONLINE
