******* Glamour may have lost a market editor, but it gained an editor in its features department. Samantha Bishopp Mollett, the magazine?s senior fashion editor, market, is moving to In Style as senior market editor. Mollett returns to In Style after working there as a fashion assistant. She had been at Glamour since 2004. A replacement has not been named for Mollett?s position, but a vacancy in the features department has been filled. Veronica Chambers, a freelance writer and author of several books, has been named features director. Chambers has roots at the magazine ? in the Nineties, she was named one of its Top 10 College Women and edited a column in the magazine, ?Bridges.? Portfolio.com is adding yet another blog to its Web site, Playas (yes, Pla-YAAHS). The weekly blog will feature contributions from celebrities and executives, and appear on the site every Thursday. Each blogger will post about a half-dozen entries during his or her Thursday appearance. Movie producer Harvey Weinstein will be the first to blog on Playas today, followed by Playboy Enterprises chief executive officer Christie Hefner, author, entrepreneur and chess expert Bob Rice and Ford Models ceo John Caplan. Few guidelines have been given to the guest bloggers on their topics of conversation, but Dan Colarusso, portfolio.com managing editor, is confident each will keep visitors engaged. ?If Harvey decides to talk about the movie business, about the fashion business or about politics, he?s going to strike a cord with other like-minded execs who aspire to be Harvey Weinstein.? Or not.

As global warming was first becoming a cause c?l?bre a few years ago, many serious environmentalists worried that green was in danger of becoming a fad -- something that would inevitably recede from consciousness after overtaxing our limited pop-cultural attention span. Sad to say, that prediction shows signs of coming true. Last week, The New York Times noted that the advertising industry is pulling back from green-themed marketing, having "grasped the public's growing skepticism over ads with environmental messages. And advertisers' concerns are buttressed by the recent sales figures for magazines that have published a "Green Issue" this year. Time's Earth Day issue was the newsweekly's third-lowest-selling issue of 2008 so far, according to ABC Rapid Report. A typical issue of Time sells 93,000 or so copies on the newsstand; the April 28 installment, which substituted green for red in the magazine's trademarked cover design, sold only 72,000. As we reported earlier this week, Manhattan Media, the community newspaper and magazine publisher that acquired irreverent Harvard alumni publication 02138 this summer, has hired legendary Esquire cover designer George Lois and noted Pentagram designer Luke Hayman to redesign the three-year-old magazine for a relaunch later this year. The company also named former Maxim group publisher and Giant magazine founder Jamie Hooper as publisher and CEO, and David Blum as its editor-in-chief. It's not unreasonable to say that this could be the most expensive relaunch for a city and regional magazine ever. But just how much are they actually spending? I tried to put that question to Tom Allon, Manhattan Media's CEO, but I gave up on the phone tag. I e-mailed Hayman?a speaker at the upcoming FOLIO: Show in Chicago (more info below)?but haven't heard back. I also asked a number of the industry's designers, most of whom declined to guesstimate.
