In a bid to grow its share of mobile advertising, Hachette Filipacchi Media has signed a multi-year deal with Quattro Wireless to handle external ad sales for its mobile phone sites, having switched from mobile ad company Third Screen Media. Under the partnership, mobile publisher and ad network Quattro also will configure content for Hachette?s mobile sites for ease of navigation. Hachette entered the mobile space in 2006 and recently used Quattro's platform to relaunch its six mobile brands, including Elle, Car and Driver and Woman's Day. Quattro also sells ads on the mobile sites of CBSNews.com, NFL.com and TMZ.com. They?re a leading ad network in the mobile space and we think they?ll be able to represent our sites well,? Yaron Oren, director of mobile strategy and operations for Hachette, said of the decision to team up with Quattro. ?In the scope of all of Hachette?s businesses, [mobile] is still small, but it?s significant and growing.?

With the economy on everyone?s minds, Time Inc.?s All You, the low-cost women?s service magazine that?s sold in Wal-Mart through an exclusive arrangement, is launching a book club that it hopes will get more people to try its budget formula. The club will be promoted in the magazine and on book department displays in more than 1,200 Wal-Mart stores. The magazine?s October 24 issue introduces the program with a spread that includes instructions on how to start a book club and feedback from especially involved readers to the club?s first pick, Thank You for All Things by Sandra Kring. Random House, whose Bantam Discovery imprint published the book, is the club?s initial sponsor, although All You publisher Diane Oshin sees the program having potential appeal to other types of advertisers that sell product in Wal-Mart. Three photos of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie from the notorious Steven Klein photo essay, "Domestic Bliss" in W magazine will hit the auction block as a part of the upcoming photography sale at Phillips de Pury on October 16. One of the photos, Case Study #13 (estimated at $25,000-$30,000) was also the cover image for the July 2005 issue. Also in the sale are photographs from other fashion photographers including David Lachapelle, Inez Van Lamsweerde & Vinoodh Matadin, Helmut Newton, Irving Penn, and Herb Ritts. For its Saturday @ Phillips sale, the auction house has tapped Hamish Bowles, the European editor-at-large of Vogue, Humberto Leon & Carol Lim, co-owners of Opening Ceremony, and Everard Findlay as tastemakers for the sale's lifestyle catalog. The sale on October 25 will include works of art, furniture, toys, and fashion items from designers and artists including Banksy, Shepard Fairey, and Justin Giunta of Subversive Jewelry. Also on the block are three pieces by Ghada Amer, Billy Sullivan, and Vik Muniz, for an artist collaboration with Francisco Costa for the 2006 Whitney Art Party. Proceeds from the sale of these items will benefit the Whitney's Independent Studies Program. For more information on the sales, visit www.phillipsdepury.com. Ed Ad Helllooo! I'm a 26/f working in media looking for 1 or 2 fun 20-something like-minded gals to share an apartment with starting Nov. 1. For commuting purposes, I'd like to find a place in the Bloor Village/High Park area and hoping to pay $500-600/pp/month max. Parking required and pets are OK. To quote another advertiser, "no smoking, narcotics, or drama here (and in my future roomies, please)" I'm a very respectful roommate and a great workout partner who is always down for a dinner party, Sex and the City re-runs, and someone to join me for night out on the town.
