Playboy magazine is offering a new way to lose your shirt on Wall Street.

The adult entertainment magazine, long famous for its photo spreads of nude women and lessons in living the urbane life of the well-heeled bachelor, is launching a search for models to pose for its upcoming feature, "Women of Wall Street."

Playboy came up with the idea for the feature after the onset of the global financial crisis, which has vaporized fortunes and left Wall Street reeling. It is planned for the February 2009 edition of the monthly magazine and on its website.

2. WWD Memo Pad

It?s taken more than two years, but Marie Claire editor in chief Joanna Coles has finally completed the puzzle of her strategy for the magazine with the hiring of Nina Garcia as fashion director.

And what that strategy apparently means is more brand extensions, a higher fashion quotient, celebrity profiles that hope to dig deeper than most and the real-life stories for which the magazine is known. The arrival of Garcia, with her high-profile gig as a judge on ?Project Runway,? couldn?t come at a better time for Marie Claire, given its newsstand performance over the last 24 months, economy aside.

Coles admits TV brand extensions are important for the magazine going forward, and has already signed on to do another one: ?Running in Heels? on The Style Network. Given ?Project Runway,? Garcia won?t be deeply involved in the other program, although she?ll be featured in some segments.

Alpha Media Group has taken another editor from Wenner Media. This time it?s Brekke Fletcher, who was managing editor of Men?s Journal and will have the same title at Alpha?s Maxim, starting this month. She was in the Men?s Journal job a year and a half.

Fletcher is following her old boss, former Men?s Journal editor Jim Kaminsky, himself a Wenner alum. He was brought in in summer 2007 by now ex-Alpha boss Kent Brownridge to be editor of Maxim. On the business side, Karen Wartell recently joined Maxim as fashion & beauty director, from Hearst Magazines? Marie Claire.

Meanwhile, Maxim is said to be in the hunt for a publisher to fill the spot left vacant when Rob Gregory was let go in February. Currently, associate publisher Neil Goldstein is the highest-ranking sales exec. Chris McLoughlin, publisher of Golf for Women until Cond? Nast shut it down, is among those who has been approached.

Bonnier Corp. recently announced that it will split Parenting into two separate editions?Parenting Early Years and Parenting School Years?early next year in order to better serve its audience.

Early Years, with a rate base of 1.65 million, will primarily target mothers of newborns to preschoolers, while School Years, with a rate base of 500,000, will focus on parents of kids in kindergarten through fifth grade. Together, the two editions will maintain Parenting's 2.15 million rate base. The prenatal and infant stages will continue to be served by The Parenting Group's family of Babytalk magazines.

According to Walter Rosenthal, consumer marketing director, The Parenting Group, the decision was based on extensive research conducted by its MomConnection research network over the past year.
