The monthly segments will feature More editor-in-chief Peggy Northrop and The Early Show anchor Rene Syler. They will discuss lifestyle issues facing women over 40 - More's core target audience. Also included in the segments will be features from the current issue of the magazine, such as reader profiles and articles on health, fashion, parenting and relationships. MORE ONLINE 2. Media Daily News New Golf Magazine Starts out Strong Michael Sheilds 12/15/04 http://www.mediapost.com/dtls_dsp_news.cfm?newsId=283085 The publishers of newly launched Golf Connoisseur are reporting that the debut issue of the magazine has exceeded pre-launch circulation estimates by 10 percent. Kelly 12/15/04 http://www.nypost.com/business/32733.htm ROLLING Stone founder Jann Wenner is finally going to tell his life story. Robert Sam Anson and more recently Robert Draper have written about the storied magazine and its founder, but never with full and unfettered access to Wenner. Now Knopf boss Sonny Mehta has a bio in the works - and Wenner told Media Ink he is giving the project his "full cooperation." The author? A little-known San Francisco-based poet, Lewis McAdams, who apparently has known 60-year-old Wenner for decades. A spokesman for Mehta confirmed that there is a project "in house" with McAdams but no publication date is scheduled. MORE ONLINE 4. USA Today Publishers Ante Up with Poker Magazines Michael McCarthy 12/14/04 http://www.usatoday.com/money/media/2004-12-13-poker-usat_x.htm" With a poker craze in full swing on TV networks such as ESPN and Bravo, publishers are moving to launch poker magazines before celebrities such as Ben Affleck take up some other game. A former dot-com executive is launching a national magazine called All In on Dec. 21. The bimonthly magazine will sell for $4.99 at chains including Wal-Mart, Target, Barnes & Noble, Borders and 7-Eleven. Time Distribution Services will distribute the magazine, which hopes to reach 150,000 paid readers by mid-2005. The 100-page first issue includes a story by Phil Gordon, host of Bravo's Celebrity Poker Showdown, about his game with New England Patriots star quarterback Tom Brady, tips from poker champs Chris Ferguson and Howard Lederer and a 25-page spread on the art of bluffing. Advertisers range from Samuel Adams beer and Crown Royal liquor to the Mirage resort in Las Vegas and online poker sites. **** WHISPER INTERNSHIPS ***** Ed hears ... ... that MaximNet, the WEB division of Dennis Publishing, is in search of a marketing intern with brilliant ideas on how to promote its editorial content, such as exclusive interviews, features and online media, to various media outlets. Applicants MUST be college students and receive credit. Previous marketing experience is a plus. The intern will be responsible for submitting links to web sites, promoting packaged editorial content, generating progress reports, supporting the online editorial division as needed and otherwise fulfilling the marketing and editorial requests of staff editors. This is a great opportunity for someone who's interested in getting a start in marketing. Responsibilities include: Assigning subject area categories to online magazine articles. Researching and entering related data about entertainment people and products. Assisting editors with features and special projects, including fact checking and research. Writing opportunities may be available. Administrative duties will also be assigned.
