THE celebrity magazine wars remain one of the hottest battlegrounds in publishing. And when the Audit Bureau of Circulations releases its latest numbers in February, a seismic shift will have taken place. In Touch, the $1.99 magazine that is only two years old, is expected to report it sold about one million copies a week on the newsstands in the second half of 2004.
People, the category leader under Editor Martha Nelson, will show a modest gain and keep its comfortable hold on the No. 1 spot overall.
Janice Min and Us Weekly surged while Star, under Bonnie Fuller and Joe Dolce, will be stuck in neutral, insiders tell Media Ink.

Meredith Hispanic Lineup Grows

Meredith Corp. is expanding its lineup of home and family magazines with a publication aimed at Hispanic women.
The Des Moines-based publisher of Better Homes and Gardens and Ladies' Home Journal will launch ??Siempre Mujer!, a Spanish-language magazine, in September. Translated into English, the title means Always Woman!
Jack Griffin, who heads Meredith's publishing group, said the company is tapping into what could be a publishing gold mine with the magazine.
