This is an excellent opportunity for proactive individuals looking for a greater understanding of the magazine industry. Duties include research, product call-ins, transcribing and, for enthusiastic candidates, writing and reporting for both magazines. This internship is unpaid. One is for the investing side of the mag, where you'll write about stocks, bonds, and mutual funds. The other is for the consumer side, where you'll write about travel, healthcare, and other non-finance trends. Both writer jobs will get lots of clip opportunities. Neither are entry level jobs, but the bosses are flexible with how much experience you have. Salaries are also really flexible. Features Department Intern: Must be available 3-5 full days per week to assist our Features editor, Health editor, Articles Director, and editorial staff. Responsibilities include: story research, brainstorming ideas for short items, and calling in products for photo shoots. There will be some administrative work such as mailings, copying, etc-you should know your way around a copier and a computer. Writing short news items or sidebars is not guaranteed, but you're encouraged to pitch. We're looking for someone who is confident and motivated with good initiative and a positive attitude. Home/Beauty Intern: Must be available at least 3 full days per week to assist our home and beauty departments. Perks: you'll get to come on photo shoots and sit in on ideas meetings. Writing short items is a possibility, but not guaranteed. We're looking for someone who is smart, organized, and enthusiastic with great attention to detail, and the ability to juggle several projects at once. You should have an interest in journalism-enthusiasm for interior design, garden design, and architecture is a plus. You will also help out on fashion stories on an as-needed basis.
