******* William Nabers, a 14-year veteran at Fortune who rose to the magazine's top photo editing position last July, was let go earlier this week by newly appointed managing editor Eric Pooley. Nabers was promoted to the top spot after Michele McNally left to become director of photography at The New York Times. Nabers was selected for the job by then managing editor Rik Kirkland, who stepped down in April and was replaced by Pooley, the former editor of Time's European, Middle Eastern and African editions.
Nabers declined to comment on the reason for his termination but confirmed earlier this week that he would be "in and out of the office" for the next two weeks..
