An FHM spokeswoman says the three newsstands in Grand Central are the only locations where Hudson has placed partial blinders over the cover. MORE ONLINE Baby, baby: So how did baby Shiloh, the offspring of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, do selling copies for People, which reputedly paid $4.1 million for exclusive rights to those first photos? Apparently very well - to the tune of at least 2.3 million newsstand copies, say insiders at Time Inc. People normally sells about 1.5 million a week on newsstands. Its total average circ is about 3.7 million. That was with a sticker price of $3.99 - 50 cents higher than normal. "We were very pleased," said People Managing Editor Larry Hackett. The extra newsstand sales were probably good for $2.25 million in additional revenue.. MORE ONLINE Min's In: In other baby news, Janice Min returned to the offices of Wenner Media this week for the first time since the birth of her baby boy, Tate, on May 7. One source speculated that she was worried because the best-selling issue in Us Weekly history was the Janet Jackson mag, which sold a record 1.4 million the week of May 26. MORE ONLINE Nast-y jobs: There's a whisper campaign that Joanne Lipman, the editor-in-chief of Cond? Nast Portfolio, may be having trouble luring star writers to the new financial magazine that's due to launch next April. That's not where she wants to be. A staff that will be doing sophisticated, long-form financial journalism should be in place by the fourth quarter at the latest to comfortably hit that date. In other words, we should soon start hearing about some bell-ringing hires. MORE ONLINE

GIVING AN ASSIST: Like "He's Just Not That Into You" and "The Nanny Diaries," Lauren Weisberger's "The Devil Wears Prada" achieved towering success based, at least in part, on the strength of its title. In fact, judging from the reviews, those four words may have been the best-received part of the book. But catchy as it may be, the title was not Weisberger's idea, according to a source. Rather, it was the suggestion of her former roommate, Daryl Nierenberg - or so Nierenberg has been telling people. The two were classmates at Cornell University, and, like Weisberger, who was Anna Wintour's assistant at Vogue, Nierenberg also had a short-lived, entry-level job at Cond? Nast Publications, on the business side of Bon App?tit. MORE ONLINE SPIN HITS EJECT: Andy Pemberton's slow-motion exit from Spin has finally concluded. The music magazine confirmed Thursday what WWD first reported three weeks ago: Pemberton is stepping down after only two issues. Sources said the delay was caused by haggling over how Pemberton's departure would be explained and what kind of parting compensation he would receive. As for why he's leaving in the first place, Pemberton, a former editor in chief of Blender, is said to have clashed with the magazine's new owners, Tom Hartle and Nion McEvoy. MORE ONLINE POWER TABLE: A bad batch of Cobb salad could have wiped out a good portion of the magazine industry's top talent Wednesday afternoon as Elle's Roberta Myers, Teen Vogue's Amy Astley, Men's Health's David Zinczenko, Blender's Craig Marks, O's Amy Gross, ESPN The Magazine's Gary Hoenig and What was their purpose? To help Glamour editor in chief Cindi Leive shape the agenda for her presidency of the American Society of Magazine Editors. MORE ONLINE

After an agonizing few weeks of tension between Andrew Pemberton, Spin magazine's editor in chief of less than four months, and the title's new owners who brought him in, Mr. Pemberton has resigned with just one completed issue under his belt. Rumors that Mr. Pemberton would be fired have swirled all month, even appearing online as a done deal, after Women's Wear Daily reported June 1 that insiders expected his imminent departure. But Mr. Pemberton held on while all involved tried to work out differences over what direction the magazine should take. MORE ONLINE

Traders on Wall Street are a well-heeled lot. For betting their firm's money on stocks, bonds, currencies, commodities or derivatives, they routinely take home big salaries and bigger bonuses. Trying to tap into that rich market is a magazine called Trader Monthly. Since 2004, it has been blending a bit of Institutional Investor with GQ and dashes of Maxim to give its readers sage market articles to help them profit on, say, emerging markets, alongside articles about luxuries like $20 million jets and helicopters. It has outlasted the novelty value of its debut and the loss of one of its biggest advertisers, Refco, the futures and commodities broker that collapsed last fall. The editor in chief of Trader Monthly, Randall Lane, said the magazine tries to merge a trade publication with a lifestyle magazine. Not only is it important to know what is happening in the market, he said, but it also helps to know where to buy an expensive watch after making $100,000 in a day. MORE ONLINE
