MARKETING CHAT WITH AUDREY SHAFFER

"I’m not a salesperson, I'm a writer!" We've heard that dozens of times in the Chatroom group. In today's world, unfortunately, you have to be both. Even traditional publishers expect you to do promotion for your book. If you don't market, you won't sell.

If you go with a small press publisher or self publish, you will have to do ALL the marketing. Self Published authors have to sell every book.

You need to know how to market yourself to GET a publisher. Query letters and submissions are a form of marketing. If you can't sell yourself to an agent/editor, how can you sell your books to the public?

Join us Sunday to talk about Marketing. Audrey Shaffer will be leading the discussion. You think you know Audrey? You might want to read on. She's been around more than one block in her life. :)

Audrey Shaffer http://audreyshaffer.com  is a Business Consultant/Accountant/Copywriter/Website Developer… and owner of The Writer's Chatroom. When she left her job three years ago to go into business for herself, she started with just accounting. Websites came next, then copywriting. When a client said "You're more than what your business cards say. No matter what I throw at you, you come up with a solution!" she expanded into Business Consulting. When people say "What do you do?" her response is "What do you need?"

In twenty-five years of working for other people, she did a bit of everything. Accounting; sales; creating flyers, catalogues, ad copy, job and training manuals, and client brochures; organizing remote events for up to 200 people; human resources and job training; retail displays; reorganization and efficiency programs. Yes, she sold a few cars along the way, but she always told the truth.

She worked in mass transportation, department stores, automotive sales and service, a window manufacturer, grocery stores, a temp agency, perennial plant nursery, apartment rentals, asset management, non-profit organizations, malt beverage distributor and a restaurant/bar.

All these different jobs have given her a wealth of knowledge, and a lot of insight into what makes people pull out their wallets. She has experience with branding, on-line and off-line marketing, building a mailing list, and many other forms of marketing.

You have something to sell? You MUST market. The best product in the world won't make a penny if people don't know about it.

Join us on Sunday and find out how to bring home the bucks!
