SUNDAY NIGHT WRITERS CHAT

The Writer??™s Chatroom is happy to present the Sunday Night Writers Chat. Your moderator will be Renee Barnes. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/TRAILER_PARK_GAZETTE/

Chat Topic

Join us at? http://writerschatroom.comSunday night at 8:00 pm EST to discuss Marketing.

What is it?
Marketing is advertising and networking, by word of mouth, electronic, media, or any other possible means. Writers must? Market to get their product and their names out in front of the buying public.
What do we Market?
Writers Market their Name, their Work, their Associations, in order to:
Sell your work.
Build an interested public, ready to buy when you have work to sell.
Network with people who can help your career to grow.
Why should I care? Why should I waste my time? Isn't that the job of my publishing company?
If you see writing as your career, you'd better care. The weight of Marketing falls on the shoulders of the author today. While some of the major traditional houses will help Market your work, others will offer no help at all. You will be responsible to Market yourself and your work. Your Marketing strategies can even be an attractive selling point that gets your work published. Remember, publishers are out there to make money, not to showcase YOUR work. If you can impress them with your Marketing plan, they are more likely to see your project as one that can make THEM money.
How do I Market?
Marketing is done every day, by almost everyone. Each time you tell someone about a movie you enjoyed, or didn't enjoy, you are Marketing. If you recommend a brand of tomato soup, you are Marketing. Every time you tell a friend about a restaurant, you are Marketing. Marketing is word of mouth advertising. If you tell someone about what you do, have done, or are involved in...you are Marketing. If you mention when your next publication will be coming out, while in a chatroom, or leave a message about it on a message board, you have just Marketed yourself. There are many different ways to Market, and all can work to help you further your career.
We will be discussing Marketing Tips and Strategies during our Sunday night chat. If you already have experience with Marketing, come ready to share your knowledge, and expect to learn something new. If you have no idea how to Market, or even why Marketing is an important part of a writers life, come with a notepad and pencil, and prepare to be amazed.

Come to chat, and ask any questions you may have. Please join us for what promises to be an interesting evening.?
