This time is very early in the morning, at least for me.
Taking into consideration the difference between our local time,
probably in Australia is noon and in America still yesterday night.

But I'll start with a coffee recipe as usual, and, depending of
your local time, you will test it right now or after a few hours.
No matter when, I assure you this recipe is amazing.

ingredients

 4  cloves
 1/2  cinnamon stick
 1  Tablespoon light-brown sugar
 1/4 cup
 brandy
 2 cups
 hot freshly made coffee
   Strip of Lemon Peel
   Strip of orange peel

direction
-------------------------------------------------------------------
In a bowl, put cloves, lemon and orange peel, cinnamon and sugar.
In a ladle, warm brandy; light it and pour into bowl.
Stir until sugar has dissolved.
Slowly pour in hot coffee, stirring constantly.
Ladle into warmed cups and serve.

Marketing is the analysis of market. If you have a product
you must analyze the market to know two fundamental things:

<> Can you sell the product ?
<> In what conditions ?

Marketing is not advertising or promotion, it is a complex
operation in order to find the answers to the above questions.
You may use advertising as a tool to collect some data for
a subsequently processing, but marketing means to analyze
customers needs, similar products, competitors and their
companies.

Combining all this information into an overall picture you should
find the right answers to the followings.

1. The Market Segments.
In different words, that means to know what kind of people need
your product, from what area they belong, why, when and where
they buy what you offer. You need this information to target all
your activity to those most profitable segments.

2. The Similar Products.
At this point you need to know what needs they cover, prices,
warranties, ways of selling, payment and delivery. Analyzing all
this data you will be able to find the right positioning for your
product and what is necessary to deliver on that positioning

3. Competition.
Not only who they are is important, but especially what they do.
You must analyze their companies too. That means having a
profound understanding the forces of competitors in your industry,
their attitudes, objectives and capabilities.

4. Tactics and Strategies.
This point means to know how to advertise correctly, how to
communicate with the potential customers (via email, letters, etc)
how to sell your product.

Article #2 : Marketing Research Using The Internet

My Internet market research methodology takes about five minutes
per topic.  The goal is simply to determine if the topic has suffient
demand/profitability characteristics on the Internet.  I like to turn
things into numbers so that apples can be compared to oranges.

Here's the step-by-step plan:

Boil your topic down to one word.  Now we want to do some market
research and assign some actual numbers to that word so we can
compare your topics to each other and find out which ones hold the
most promise for your first Internet business.

The goal of this exercise is to come up with a number that expresses
the demand/profitability characteristics of the general market you are
considering.  This first number is going to express the amount of "demand"
there is for the idea expressed by the word you picked.  How do we
assign this number? What if we can find out how many times a
keyword has been searched on a major search engine in the prior month?
Well; of course we can do just that.

There are  several PPC search engines that have keyword suggestion tools.
These tools tell you how many times a particular word has been searched
in the prior month.  We will use Overture (perhaps the most popular) for
our purposes.

Here's how to get this number (if you get lost, it's possible that Overture
has changed their site... if so, go and post to the coaching board and
we'll update this step):

   1. Open your web browser.
   2. Enter the following on the URL bar (or just click the link below):
      http://www.Overture.com
   3. Click on "Advertiser Center"
   4. Click on "Tools"
   5. Click on "Term Suggestion Tool"
   6. Enter your first topic.
   7. It should give you a list of terms along with the number of searches.
       Find your term and write down the number of searches.
   8. Repeat for each of your topics.

We'll call this the "demand" number.   It represents how much interest
there is in each topic on the Internet based on how many people search
for that topic at several search engines which utilize Overture.

Next, we need to assign a number reflecting the profitability of your
topics.

In the last step, we might have picked "joke" (the fifth most popular
keyword search on the Internet at times). Most of us know that people
searching for jokes aren't really interested in buying anything. We need
another number to express the profitability of topics. Let's use Overture
for this step too.  Here are the steps:

   1. Open your web browser.
   2. Enter the following on the URL bar (or just click the link below):
   http://www.Overture.com
   3. Click on "Advertiser Center"
   4. Click on "Tools"
   5. Click on "View Bids Tool"
   6. Enter your first topic in the box at the top. Fill in the box at the
       bottom with the letters/numbers in the image they are showing you.
      Click the Search button.

Now scroll down to the #10 listing and write down the bid for that listing.
This represents the profitability number.  At least 10 of your competitors
think this word is worth more than that amount. If there is no #10 bid,
I move right on. I try not to pay much attention to the bids above the #10
bid, because every market deserves to have 5-9 fools who are wasting
their money because they see 5-9 other fools doing the same thing.
Enough said.

Now you may be wondering about competition.  Don't we want to have
a number that represents competition?  We actually don't care.  If there
are at least 10 bids on Overture, there is enough competition to make the
topic viable using our plan.  We don't care if there is "too much"
competition in a market.  Our plan is going to turn those competitors into
our partners, so the more competitors... the better.

Now, just multiply the demand number by the profitability number.

No; this isn't a trick IRS form. By multiplying those two numbers together,
you have come up with a new number that is completely meaningless all
by itself, but it somehow encompasses all the important marketing
information for your word. It has the demand and profitability indexes all
rolled together in one number.

Compare the meaningless numbers and find meaning.

The numbers you came up with have no meaning by themselves, but you
can use them to compare with other meaningless numbers derived in the
same way. Now you can tell if "widgets" or "waggets" is a better market
to tackle.

To be technical, you may want to take the square root of each number
before comparing them.  That way, a 400 really will mean that the size
of the market is roughly 4 times bigger than a 100.  This is necessary
because we multiplied together two numbers that were really in the same
domain. That means they ended up being the square of the actual
comparable numbers.  To fix that, just take the square root.  If you only
want to compare the numbers to see which one is higher/lower than the
other... there is no need to take the square root first.

The number does a lot more that it may appear to do on the surface.
You will find that it predicts the ease you can find free content for your
site, engage in link exchanges, find topical ezines and discussion lists,
etc...
All while balancing that with the ability to find profitable affiliate
relationships, sell advertising, find complementary products, etc.

An accountant once told me that he never met anyone who didn't want
to make 30% more money. Whether you want a better lifestyle or to
take more vacations, buy a fancy car, spend more time with your family,
send your children to college or to give it all away, you could always use
more money.

If you sell services, your primary limitations on earnings are your costs
and the number of hours in a week. Most independent professionals
are already working well over 40 hours a week and can't work longer
hours to increase earnings. Your goal should be to find ways to work
less and increase your earnings. How can you market smarter and make
more money?

DON'T DISCOUNT YOUR SERVICES
Have you ever heard of a lawyer or carpenter offering a 20% discount
on their hourly or daily rate? Every time you offer a discount or reduce
your regular rates, you are sending a message to prospects that your
services really aren't worth what you're asking.

Once your clients know that your prices are discounted or negotiable,
you will always be fighting a battle to be the paid full price for your
work.
Never offer discounts; your clients will assume that they are expected
to pay the asking price for your services.

OVERCOME OBJECTIONS TO PRICE
Prospects invariably want to know your pricing before they understand
the benefits your products and services provide. Quoting prices is
meaningless until prospects can put the cost into the context of the
results they can expect.

When prospects show concern about your pricing, it's a good sign.
It indicates their interest in buying your services and a need to
understand the value you provide. You could list all the benefits of
your services but if you really want to make the sale, it's far more
effective to let prospects sell themselves.

A client's perception of value isn't based on how much they pay, but
on whether their expectations will be met and the benefit they will
receive. Don't get stuck on the dollars you charge per hour. Instead
help prospects define the dollar benefit of your services.

When prospects query you on price, respond by asking questions
to help them identify for themselves the problem they want solved,
the cost of the problem, the solution they need, and how you can
help them. Prospects buy when they think their expectations will
be met. Let them define their expectations and they'll be far more
likely to sell themselves when you finally explain your pricing at the
end of the conversation.

POSITION YOURSELF AS AN EXPERT
Differentiate yourself from your competition by using your articles
to regularly provide insight and ideas to your prospects and clients
so they come to view you as an expert in your field. Use expert
positioning and consider raising your prices.

When Arnold Schwarzenegger first arrived in the U.S. he had
trouble getting work as a stonemason with his funny accent,
despite charging less than his competitors. A friend suggested he
set his prices above the competition and bill himself and his
partner as exclusive European masons. His business took off
and look where he is now!

AVOID HOURLY FEES
Unless you sell hour-long massages, charging by the hour is the best
way to limit your earning potential. When you charge by the hour
you lose money if you work efficiently or if you get a great idea
right away. Prospects can always negotiate with you on the number
of hours they want, undermining your ability to put in the time
needed to meet their expectations.

Prospects want results. Help them clarify the results they want
and then set a project fee for accomplishing those results. Make
sure your contract or letter of agreement allows you to adjust
your price if the project changes mid-stream.

USE VALUE BASED PRICING
You can pay $30 or over $5,000 a night for a motel or hotel room.
Both provide a roof over your head, a bed and your own bathroom,
so why do some people pay over 150 times more for one than the other?

People buy based on their perception of the value provided.
If they understand the value that your service or product provides,
they may be willing to pay much, much more than you are currently
