Today I just wanted to encourage you.

Why?

Because even as you are doing your best to motivate
yourself there will be days when it all seems too much.

Still, no matter how challenging life gets bear in mind the
following three points.

1 Your problems are not personal

Most of our problems can be solved right away once we learn
the correct strategy. Theories might help however often they
will only allow you to understand the problem without giving
you a solution you can put to good use right away.

Be alert to resources that show you practical strategies. A
breakthrough is possible sooner than you think once you find
and use an effective strategy.

2 Your problems are not pervasive

When things are not working out and you feel like giving up
--  stop! Look for aspects of your life that are working.

Remind yourself that not everything is falling apart.

It is unlikely that every single one of your relationships
is in trouble. It is highly unlikely that motivation is an
issue for you 24 hours a day.

Look for opportunities to learn and improve a little at a
time. If you can take baby steps and make just a little
progress each day - you will be amazed at how far you will
progress over the next 6 months.

3 Your problems are not permanent

Whenever it seems like there is no end in sight to your
growing problems -- have faith!

Think about all the old problems that are now no longer
part of your life. Remember people you used to have trouble
relating to who you now enjoy talking to.

And allow the possibility of change in the future. After all
change is the only thing we can count on in the future. And
thankfully that applies to all of your problems as well.

How can you accelerate the possibility of positive change?

By changing yourself to become the kind of person who easily
handles problems.

Your biggest problems in life are likely to have once been
small problems that grew and grew until you felt unable to
deal with them.

Now is the time to stop procrastinating. Take control of
your life and discover a better way to make the most of the
opportunities in front of you.

And... solve problems before they grow too large.

Lots of research has focused on inbound links to a site, but little has
focused on the number of links actually on a page (outbound or to other
parts of a site).

Many SEO gurus have recently been talking about something they call
"PR Leak" which seems to be a theory that the more outbound links you
have, the more your page rank on Google "leaks" away. That concept
isn't found in the academic papers published by the founders of Google,
but does seem to be accepted by a majority of SEOs. I decided it was
time to take a look at the number of links present on a page and how
that number correlates with ranking.

The methodology:
I gathered the results of the queries that were naturally performed last
month by myself and three associates using the two leading search engines
and analyzed them. I counted the number of links on the page (references
to "href") and tabulated the results against the ranking of the URL in the
search results. The tabulated results were finally converted into a
normalized "ranking correlation." The results for each of the t 17168/32577_dey01.gif e so that we could discover any
differences between the two lead 17168/32576_deg01.gif he resulting graphs show the results for groupings of number of links
normalized into a number between -100 and +100 showing the
likelihood of being ranked higher/lower. A value of +100 shows that all
10 rankings were in the proper order to show that pages of the studied
value ALWAYS rank HIGHER than pages of another value. A value
of -100 shows that all 10 rankings were in the proper order to show that
pages of the studied value ALWAYS rank LOWER than pages of
another value. Numbers in between show the varying likelihood of
rankings proportionally between - 100 and +100.

That is the number you see on the Y-axis. On the X-axis, we have the
number of links found. They are grouped into sets of 10 in order to
increase the statistical significance with the amount of data we had
available to analyze. Here are the graphs for two leading search engines:

(Note to webmasters:
Feel free to hot link to the above graphs or copy them to your own site
if you publish this report. Feel free to remove this note as well.)

The number of links were grouped in this way in order to increase the
number of data points available. Unfortunately it also reduces the
precision of the results. One is able to see that 91-100 links rank much
higher than 1-10 links, but you are unable to see if 77 links rank
differently than 79 links (for example).

The result is very conclusive. Both leading search engines rank pages
with more links much higher than pages with fewer links! Once again,
it appears that the SEOs touting the "PR Leak" theory are simply wrong.
If their theory held any weight at all, we should see the exact opposite.
Pages with more links should rank lower on average.

Notes:

1. There was no exercise to attempt to isolate different keywords.
I merely took a random sampling of the queries performed by myself
and three associates during the month.

2. This is merely a correlation study, so it cannot be determined from
this study whether the leading search engines purposefully entertain this
factor or not. The actual factors used may be far distant from the factor we
studied.

of the biggest mistakes small businesses make and some tips
to help you avoid them:


Mistake #1: Having a Poorly Defined Sales Process

The key to making money with any business is to stay
focused on how you can "sell", "sell more" and "sell more
often". Unfortunately most businesses don't consider all of
the ways they can make money from customers and end up
losing potential revenues.

There are three ways you can make money from your site:

1. Get More New Customers - This is the sales activity that
most small businesses spend 90% of their efforts on.
Although it's an important element of your sales process,
it's only one of three ways you can make money. Don't
neglect the other two because you're focused on only
attracting new customers.

2. Make More Money From Each Transaction - Upselling is the
process of increasing the value of a customer's order.
Offering additional products and services at the point of
purchase is an effective way to increase the value of the
transaction.

3. Sell More Often To Existing Customers - Existing
customers are the least expensive customers to sell to.
Why? Because they've already purchased from you once so
they trust you, you already know what they're interested in
and you know how to reach them. Use these facts to your
advantage by following up with existing customers on a
regular basis and offering them more products and services.
This process is known as backend sales and is one of the
most overlooked revenue sources by small businesses.

A well-defined sales process will include all three of
these. If you're missing any of them you need to rethink
your strategy from the beginning. Start with your first
contact with a customer and walk through step-by-step how
you'll take them from never having heard of you to being a
lifelong customer.


Mistake #2: Not Learning What Makes a Website Sell

If you've been online longer than five minutes you know
that the "build it and they will come" mentality doesn't
work. If you want your business to succeed you need to
learn how to make a website that sells.

Some of the best things you can do are:

- Build Trust - Providing testimonials, free trials, money
back guarantees and a Privacy Policy will all help your
customers trust you. The more confidence people have in you
and your ability to deliver what you say you will, the more
likely they'll be to take the action you want.

- Keep Your Product Offers Relevant - No matter how tempted
you may be to promote an unrelated product or service
because it pays a high commission, DON'T! There is an old
saying that you should keep in mind at all times, "stick to
your knitting". In other words, stick with what you've been
doing.

- Get An Email Address For As Many Visitors As Possible -
This can be when they order, sign up for your newsletter,
request an information package, enter a contest, request a
special report, sign up for a trial/demo, or whatever
action makes sense for your business. Having this address
allows you to follow up with them and turn them from
prospects to customers.

- Make The Perceived Value Extremely High - The higher the
perceived value of your offering, the fewer objections you
will receive. To add value, consider additional products
and services you can offer to purchasers. This can be a
special report, an ebook or even some of your time. Just
make sure that whatever you offer it's not readily
available for free on another site. Otherwise this
technique will have the opposite effect and make your offer
look less valuable.


Mistake #3: Not Treating it Like a Business

Too many small business owners fall into bad habits early
on and end up treating their business more like a hobby
than a business.

Here are a few things you can do to treat your business
like a business:

- Stick To A Schedule - Just like you would with a regular
job, develop a work schedule for your small business and
stick to it. This will keep you focused and you'll be more
productive.

- Get Help When You Need It - You can't be an expert at all
things. If you don't know how to build websites, write copy
or do the accounting, find someone who does. Doing so will
let you focus on what you do well instead of wasting your
time and leaving you frustrated.

- Work Hard At It - That's right, good old-fashioned elbow
grease will always get you further then searching for the
"secret to success".

Healthy teeth and gums are crucial to your overall health.
Brushing your teeth and flossing daily will help keep you away
from dreaded dental work like crowns, fillings, and root canals.
Some people may not realize that metals are often used in dental
work when crowns and mercury fillings are performed.

Unfortunately, these metals are toxic and over time can cause
permanent damage and disease. When a filling is needed, ask your
dentist for the white filling instead. It does not contain any
mercury.

Root canals are another type of dental work. They are a result of
the tooth being dead. A dead tooth in the mouth can cause
bacteria. Since teeth have many canals and nerves within them,
when root canals are performed the main canal nerve is removed.
However, the smaller side canals are often left behind which
contain dead nerves. Bacteria then breeds in these canals, which
can lead to autoimmune disease and irritable bowel disease.

A healthy mouth can be achieved by brushing daily with an all-

eliminate harmful bacteria. In addition, flossing daily will help
keep your gums healthy.

Security experts say that the Sasser computer worm, which was
released last week, is having a much greater impact on home users
and students than on corporate users. More than 1,000 computers
at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst were reportedly
infected after students introduced the worm to the campus
network.

If you are running Windows 2000 or any version of XP, you are at
risk.  All other operating systems are not affected.  A warning
sign is that your computer repeatedly reboots itself.

This particular virus is being sent to me by people who have my
email address on their computer, and their computer is infected.
They are not only sending it to me, but everyone else??™s email
address they might have on their computer.

After I survived a very serious illness, I went to see my doctor for a
follow-up appointment. As his nurse was taking my vital signs and
checking my height and weight, I discovered that I was only 5'8" instead
of my former 5'10".

When the doctor entered the exam room, I reported with alarm,
"Doctor! I think I'm shrinking!"

The doctor calmly responded,
