Ingredients
(serves 1)
-----------------------------------------------------------------
1 teaspoon sugar
1 1/2 fluid ounces Irish whisky
    hot strong coffee
    cream

Directions
In a warm tall steamed glass, add sugar and whiskey.
Fill 2/3 of the glass with coffee. Stir briefly and carefully add cream,
pouring it over the back of the spoon so that it floats on the surface.
Do not mix the cream into the coffee and whiskey.

I have an old friend in Denmark, Poul-Ejner. Many years ago
he told me that a real Irish coffee recipe is something like that :
"Take a large bowl, put inside a cup of coffee and a coin.
Then you must add whisky until you can see the coin"

Now, grab a cup of coffee, (take care of ingredients)
a piece of  'something' you have prepared
and choose your most comfortable recliner.

Some people even spend a lot of money believing that looking
successful will ultimately lead them to success. Probably they have
heard the motivational talks about dressing for success.
"You have to eat, drink, sleep, and breathe success to truly become
successful. Your sub-conscious mind will lead you down the right
path if you think about it enough."

So let me ask you:

You want your website to be a success, don't you?

If you think about it, isn't your website the only visual image your
visitors will have of you?
What image does your website portray?
Does your visitor subconsciously move her purse away from her
monitor when she surfs by?

In order to ready for visitors, your website needs to look and
feel as if the person or persons behind it know what they are
doing. It has to make your visitor feel comfortable.
It needs to look successful.

If it looks like others are doing business with you, s/he will be
more prepared to do business with you as well. The minute
your potential customer spots the cobwebs, or one inch of  dust
on top of your products, s/he's gone.

Now, I'm not talking about creating wizardry. I'm telling you to
make sure the basics are covered.

You are providing tons of content aren't you?
Fresh, original content shows you know your stuff. People will
want to link to your content to add to the usefulness of their own
website. Lots of pages with relevant content can even help your
search engine traffic. Your potential customers will have to return
to finish reading through all of the great information.

I could go on and on about that one.

Anyway, what I'm saying is, even if YOU aren't successful yet,
your website should make you appear as if you are.
Put yourself in your customers shoes. What things make you feel
that you have hit a legitimate site?

What things make you click away before the page has finished
loading?

What things make you bookmark that site, and then actually
return to it?

Ask yourself these questions, then type in the URL of your
website and view it from the eyes of your visitors. Have you
broken any of your own rules?

The bottom line is that every pixel of your visitors monitor as
they hit your site should scream SUCCESS!

Besides, "it can't hurt", right? Worst case is that the
information provided in this article does nothing to help
your online presence.

But if it does work for you, you just might make enough
money from your website to allow you to buy clothes so that
YOU can dress for success!

Until recently, I served the Music industry as a record promoter
and media publicist. After having begun my own music career as
a recording artist and successfully self-marketing my first recording,
I realized that there must, literally, be tons of musicians who could
utilize my skills. And, I was correct...there were.

Unfortunately, I also quickly realized that very few of these
"tons of artists" had absolutely any clue about business, and even
less of a clue about promoting their music, outside the no-brainer
effect of performing.

Though not nearly as bad, I still see the lack of proper budgeting
as a significant problem among traditional business owners as well.
There is a long-standing thought that, whether the economy is in
good or bad condition, business owners should *always* actively
market and promote their products.

However, most cease actively promoting their products or services
during distressed economies. And, this is the absolute poorest way
to "budget" your marketing and promotional dollars for your business.

So, let us utilize the example of any new product that you currently
have that you feel will change the world for the better:

Targeting:
Who are the main people who need your product or service most?
Once you determine this, you then need to determine all the ways you
can reach these people. For instance, your first line of marketing and
promotion defense should be:

1. Publicity:
Many people confuse publicity with advertising, however, they are
*not* the same. Publicity allows you to get your information out to the
public via the media and, for the most part, without cost. However,
the caveat emptor is that your information must be considered
'newsworthy' as opposed to presenting itself just another item for sale.

The best way to qualify your business, product or service as news,
is to either "tie it in" (make a connection) to a current news item,
or to present it as a problem-solver for some sector of society.

Additionally, media audiences, generally, give more interest to, and
perceive "publicity" items as more important than "advertised" items.
This is because there is the sense that the media in which it is
presented is endorsing the product or service.

And, for the most part, this is correct because, most of the time,
the media reviews the item prior to placing its proverbial stamp of
approval on it via publication. Again, your only costs are time and
production of promotional materials for the media.

Publicity is available from radio, television, print and online sources
alike. Simply determine the number of sources within each of these
media sectors that you can afford to send your promotional materials
to, then itemize your budget accordingly.

2. Advertising:
Your second line of defense, is "advertising." Though you may be
in a financial position to execute both publicity and advertising
simultaneously, ideally (again, in the interest of "budgeting"), it is
financially advantageous to apply your earnings from your publicity
results to your advertising campaign.

This process is a perfect example of making your money work for
itself, and eliminates the necessity of your utilizing personal funds for
capital in your marketing and promotion.

And, once you are involved in the "advertising" portion of your
media campaign, in the further interest of budgeting, first determine
the size and degree of ad that you wish to present to your
prospective clients or customers.

For example, let's use the print media, as your cost will be determined
by the amount of space you require:

Considerations:
1. How much content will be enough to convince readers to buy your
    product?
2. After creating an ad, can you now reasonably reduce its content, in
    the interest of saving money, while delivering the same message,
    and more succinctly?
3. In determining a budget, should your ad be presented in the format of
    a simple classified line ad, or can you possibly achieve greater results
    with a Classified Display ad? This is an ad that includes a border,
    larger fonts, bold or underline features.
4. How long should you run the ad before determining its success or
    failure?
5. What elements will you use to determine its success or failure?

As you see, there are far more considerations to apply when creating a
marketing/promotion budget than simply coming up with an abstract figure,
then throwing caution to the wind, so to speak. Perhaps, this information
can serve its intended purpose in getting you to consider your own budget
with greater emphasis.

As I am writing this I am 40 years old.  For many of you, that sounds
young.  For those in their teens and 20's, that probably sounds about
one inch away from a nursing home.

But like it or not, I am 40.  Mostly, I think I like it.

Sure, the size 30 jeans I wore in High School don't fit any more--
haven't since my sophomore year of college--and my hair doesn't
exactly "cover" my forehead like it used to.  (To be honest, it really
doesn't cover much of anything-- except my back and ears.)

Those may not be so great, but I have a ton of things to be happy
about:

My family is not just healthy but happy.  I have a wealth of friends.
I have more than enough in almost every area of my life. The trials
--and there have been some tough ones--have been relatively few
and far between and the good times have been frequent.

Who wouldn't be happy with that?

Looking back I realize how I got to this place in my life-- and how
anyone can get there.

For the last 40 years my life has been a daily series of very small
choices.  Before 20 most of those were probably made for me,
after I made most of them myself.  Whether by luck or design, most
of those small choices have moved me ahead in my life.

And that's the key: making good choices each step of the way.
Choosing to get up a little earlier and take a walk.Choosing to
discipline my toddler instead of letting it slipjust one more time.
Choosing to listen to and genuinely care about another human
being in their moment of crisis.

Those good choices are based on having our own sense of purpose
and direction in life.

At 40, here's my goal: To spend the NEXT third of my life making
even better choices.

Short on disk space? You can now start conserving precious free space
by creating compressed folders that automatically compress every file
and folder that you put into it. To create a blank compressed folder,
Do this  Open the window and folder where you want the new
compressed folder to be.
Choose File, then New, and then Compressed Folder.
Windows creates new folder icon, New Compressed Folder.
Replace the temporary filename, New Compressed Folder,
by typing your own filename; then press Enter.

After creating a compressed folder, you can copy or move files and
folders into it just as you would a regular file folder. As you copy or
move files or folders, Windows Millennium Edition compresses their
contents. You can then copy compressed folders to removable
media like floppy diskettes and zip drives. You can also attach them
to e-mail messages that you send over the Internet.

A professor is sent to darkest Africa to live with a primitive tribe.
He spends years with them, teaching them Reading, Writing, Math,

white except for one black one. Nature does this on occasion.'

The chief was silent for a moment, then said,
'Tell you what. You don't say anything more about that sheep and
I won't say anything more about that white child.'
