One of the most important of them is which extension should I choose, dot-com, dot-net or dot-biz? There are circumstances when you will think it is fit to register more than one extension. This article is aimed at helping you to make the right decision. A common problem is that people usually type in .com all the time on net and land up on various other sites. This could be troublesome both for the business and the customer. When you select a domain name, you are always given a list of different extensions to choose from. These extensions can help specify the type of products or services youare offering online or your geographical location. To begin this article, I am giving some basic definitions of the extensions you can choose from: * .com signifies "commercial". It is the most well-known extension and preferred by all commercial enterprises. The acute scarcity of unforgettable .com domain names has led to creation of several other extensions. * .net signifies "network". It is generally used by internet service providers, web hos^ting companies, or other firms related to network or internet services. * .org signifies "organization". It is commonly used by non-commercial web sites. But, at present, many businesses register their matching .org extension to their .com domain names. * .biz signifies "business". It is used for business web sites. There are more chances of you getting this extension because of its low current penetration. * .info signifies "information". It is generally used for information sharing web sites. This too like .biz is gradually growing in popularity and there is more likelihood of you getting it. Your first aim should be to get a perfect domain name for your business. Once you have done that you should then consider registering other extensions for the same domain name. It is up to you to decide which extensions are most relevant for your business. It depends a lot on your customer base, range of products/services, and also your brand image. You should always use domain forwarding service to redirect visitors from your other domains to your primary domain. This is quite essential since visitors may get confused about your web site address and may reach your competitor's web site. For example, you domain name is home-appliances.net and your potential customers may reach home-appliances.com, which is your competitor. Prevention is always better than cure. So, instead of buying a rival domain name from someone (at a high cost), it is always preferable to register that domain name yourself (at a low cost). We find that name protection and greater coverage are the two key forces driving the need for registering more than one domain name. The accessibility of the site increases by registering more than one extension for a domain name. There are other advantages of multiple domain name registration. It helps in creating a demand for similar domain names due to people realizing that so many domain names are available related to the primary one. But some observers in the industry have a different viewpoint. They think that having more than one domain extension is very confusing for the visitors to these sites. In conclusion, I would like to say that your primary target should be .com and thereafter, find out the relevant extensions for your business and try to register them also. The following are some of the most effective ways to do just that: 1. Use Social Proof What is "social proof"? Simply put, we are all conditioned to watch what others are doing and follow along (think teenagers). Using social proof in your marketing helps you to influence your customers to purchase your products/services, get new prospects to sign-up for your list, and get people talking about you and your offering - and that's just the start. So, how do you use this psychological trigger in your marketing? One way is to use results-based testimonials. Ask your current customers or clients to give you results-based testimonials. They literally say, "I used this product and these are the results I got." Having celebrities give these to you is great, but make sure you have testimonials from REAL people. Those are the ones that are really going to cement the idea in your potential buyer's mind that they can do it, too. 2. Answer your prospects #1 objection To take "social proof" to a deeper lever, anyone who is buying anything almost always has this #1 objection: "Sure, you can do it, but can I do it?" In addition to using yourself as an example (if appropriate) as evidence that what you are offering does what you say it will, it's also important to make sure you get "social proof" from people in your client/customer's peer group. Then your potential buyer sees people like themself and understands that "Hey, it worked for them, it can work for me, too." 3. Use a time limit Creating a sense of urgency around your product or service will make it that much more enticing to potential buyers. For example, Jeff Walker just released his "Product Launch Formula" and has promised to sell it for $997 for one week only. After that he will raise his price. He doesn't even have to tell us by how much. Just knowing that you have one week to buy at a lower price creates that sense of urgency. 4. Use a limited quantity If you are selling a physical product and you are only having 100 produced, then use that information to create the same sense of urgency you would with a time limit. Use a countdown on your website to further create the feeling that if your potential buyers don't buy now, they may miss out. 5. Use a time or quantity limit on bonuses Additionally, you could offer bonuses for a certain length of time (first week only) or for a certain number of products sold. For example, the first 30 buyers would get an additional special report (valued at $XX). The last three strategies also help your buyers feel like they are part of your "club" when they join by purchasing your product or service. Obviously, you can use these tactics unscrupulously, and I'm sure you've seen it or experienced it yourself. But if you want your business to truly be successful, in all the ways that are important and meaningful to you, then you must only use these strategies with integrity and honesty. If you really are only going to print 100 copies of a physical product, then only print 100 copies. That doesn't mean that you can't do another print run. It just means that you tell your market that you're only going to print 100 now, and if you do decide to do another run, then they will have to wait another two or three weeks before they can get their copy. If you really are going to raise your price after a certain date, or after a certain number of items are sold, then you must follow through. You can give your current base a chance to buy at the "original" price before you raise it, but you still must raise your price if you say you will. Your integrity using these strategies will create more sales for you than ever before. For example, tub and squeeze margarines and spreads are likely to be lower in fat, saturated fat and trans fatty acids than stick margarines. That's because the stick margarines usually contain more trans fats to keep the margarine hard for crisp baked goods. More than 52% of adults have high cholesterol, and since they may be your loved ones, perhaps changing the fat used in recipes may offer heart healthy advantages. Margarine and spreads are made with vegetable oils so they are naturally cholesterol fr^ee and low in saturated fat but butter, made from cream, has cholesterol and saturated fat. A serving of margarine has 1.5 grams of saturated fat and no cholesterol but butter has 8 grams of saturated fat and 30 milligrams of cholesterol for each tablespoon. Recently, margarines that are fr^ee of trans fatty acids have begun to be labeled to make shopping easier. But not all fat substitutes are the same so make sure your baked goods are using the right type of fat. Healthy New Option to Margarines: The Food and Drug Administration announced that consuming foods containing plant stanol esters may reduce the risk of heart disease when it is part of a diet low in saturated fat and cholesterol. But they are safe for everyone. Plant stanol esters are a new food ingredient that can help block the absorption of cholesterol from the intestinal tract. Clinical research studies show that daily use of two or three standard servings of these spreads can reduce LDL ("bad") cholesterol levels about 10%. Plant stanols are derived from naturally occurring substances in plants. The stanols are combined with a small amount of canola oil to f^rm stanol esters producing an ingredient that can be used in a wide variety of foods. You can find them in several bread spread brands. These spreads generally cost several times as much as regular margarine. Regular and "lite" spreads fortified with plant stanol ester are available. The FDA is reviewing other uses for these fats in spreads and beverages. Baking Tips: Most health experts recommend you limit butter to special occasions. When baking desserts and other baked goods, aim for stick margarines. Those spreads containing less than 45% oil will not perform in recipes because of their lower fat content. To help you out this baking season remember that butter is at least 80% milk fat, margarine is at least 80% oil and bread spreads are less than 80% oil. Regular vegetable oil spreads containing plant stanol esters can be used in cooking and baking as a one-for-one substitution for other cooking fats and oils. "Lite" spreads containing this ingredient are designed for spreading only. Try using plant stanol esters for healthier sugar cookies this year.
