Focused to sell a single product or service, a mini-site is a couple of webpages: a sales letter linked to an order form. While mini-sites are considered very effective sales tools, it can be a big challenge to drive a lot of customers to them. The major problem you have to face, is the lack of reciprocal links. As you know, the reciprocal links are a powerful way to increase the traffic to any site. But within those two-page mini sites there is no room for links or banners, for a very simple reason: you do not want to drive people away, you want them to stay and buy your product. Period. Under those circumstances the most effective way to get visitors is Search Engine positioning. The higher position you have, the more visitors you'll get. Let's see how you can do that. Whenever a user needs to find something on the web, s/he will almost always instinctively go to one of the top search engines and run a search using the most appropriate words that describe what s/he needs. Your first problem is to make a list of key words you think that people might use to find what you want to sell. Make it big, with synonyms and all related words you can find. Ask friends' help, they can give you an unexpected idea. Example : money, earn, income, wage, mint, profit, commission, fee, cash, dime ... Once you have this list, try to see what words could be used the most. Go to search engines and see the last queries related to words you have on your list and choose the most frequent ones. Make a sublist with the main key words. Then write the content of your sales letter using the words from your list, taking care to use them more then once, but the key words more often, more frequently. Search engines look at almost all parts of a web page to set its rank. All is taken into consideration: the title, meta tags, body text, alt tags, comments, form hidden fields and headings To succeed in high positioning, there are some hints. 1. Make a sentence using your main keys words and put it in the <TITLE> tag. 2. Put your key words in <META NAME> sections. You may use and short sentences like "earn cash" if you have "earn cash" stated like that in your body text 3. Put your main key words in the superior part of your body text. This is a very sensible area for search engines. 4. Another sensible area is the content of headings, I mean <H1></H1> tags and the rest. You may use CSS style sheet features for resizing the text. 5. ALT tags used for describing images is another sensible area for search engines. Put your keys words in these fields. <IMG SRC="yourimage" ALT="include your keywords here"> 6. Everyday I get notes from nice people wanting me to take a look at their web sites. The sites aren't selling, and they want to know why. More often than not, the graphics look great and the copy on the inner pages is just fine. The killer mistake is there isn't much copy at the top of the opening page. Give your opening index.html page a headline and a paragraph or two. They should tell people what you can do for them. This short copy also does well to mention what kinds of customers you help. For example, Jose's site sells a wide variety of sunglasses. Summer is coming and Jose wants to increase his conversion of visitors to buyers. He has lots of appealing product photos of his best-selling sunglasses, but there isn't any copy to introduce his site. It leaves new visitors guessing (and confused first-timers usually click away within a couple of seconds). For the past couple months AdSense has dominated forums, discussions, and newsletters all over the Internet. I've heard tales of fabulous riches to be made with AdSense, but up until now I've been admittedly skeptical of placing someone else's ads on my pages. Why? In short, I didn't like the idea of losing even a single visitor to anothersite The key to success with AdSense is to place your ads on pages that receive high traffic for high demand keywords. The higher the cost-per-click to the advertiser, the more you will receive per click from your site. It doesn't pay to target low cost-per-click keywords and place them on pages that don't receive hits. Instinctively, my mind drifted to horrible images in which my homepage was buried in little ads promoting other people's services. . . Then I thought of what's proving to be an excellent idea on my first AdSense page. By placing my first AdSense link on a page that offers free ebooks related to marketing, I successfully blended a mix of two major factors for overall success. 1) Target high traffic pages on your site. I checked my logs and discovered many of my visitors take advantage of the free affiliate marketing resources and ebooks offered on my site. Hmm... 2) If possible place AdSense links on pages that produce little or better yet, no profit. By placing AdSense on a free resources page I have drastically reduced the amount of potential customers lost to other sites. Bingo! End result? A high traffic page producing a minimal amount of revenue. Sounds like a perfect opportunity to pick up some extra cash with AdSense. This is especially rewarding to informational sites that focus their efforts on delivering powerful affiliate link free content to their visitors. Now they can gain a return on their services. By no means is AdSense a perfect program, but, I've yet to stumble across a program that didn't have room for improvement in one category or another My main gripe concerning AdSense is the inability to determine the profitability of a chosen keyword. competitive, high demand keywords will undoubtedly generate larger commissions, but the exact number is withheld by the big 'G'. Google promises to update AdSense frequently, tweaking and polishing in order to maintain their 'squeaky-clean' image. Who knows, maybe some day we'll see AdSense add a 2nd tier? Can you imagine the smiles on the faces of webmasters around the world as they sign sub-affiliates and double, triple, quadruple etc... the amount they earn from AdSense! One particularly handy feature available with AdSense is the ability to filter out up to 200 urls. This gives you the option of 'blocking' spammy low value offers from your pages as well as competitors to your site. The possibilities are limitless, yet looming on the edge of my consciousness is the fear that one day someone will find a way to exploit this 'goldengoose' and force Google to crack down (much like the pay-per-click affiliate programs of old.). For now they enforce a strict anti-spamming policy, anyone found to be spamming their own links or abusing AdSense by other means will find their AdSense privileges terminated. My advice is quite simple... Hop on the AdSense bandwagon while you can.
