The general opinion is that high school. Nobody ever went to university to become a realtor. Most realtors aren't that bright, either. Without enough sleep, you will most likely be cranky, sour-faced (which leads to wrinkles), and unproductive until you have had at least three cups of strong coffee. If you're in the habit of repeatedly hitting the snooze button each morning for a few more precious minutes in the land of nod, you're not getting enough sleep. One of the easiest tricks for getting to bed on time is to turn off the TV, turn over and make sure you give yourself enough snooze-time for a full eight hours of restful sleep. But what if you get to bed on time and still toss and turn too many times during the night? Learn how to sleep better and start getting the most out of your nighttime hours. Morning Routine Trick #2: Get Ready Faster: Taking hour-long showers, dawdling with your hair and spending too much time deciding what to wear can cripple your ability to get out the door on time. If you want the Monday morning madness to end, you should only be taking 10-20 minutes in the shower - that's all the time you need to get cleaned up. If you have to shave, try doing it the night before in an end-of-the-day routine or while you take a relaxing bath. If you're a woman, hair and makeup application usually takes up the bulk of your morning routine, but if you can streamline the process you can easily get your hair and makeup done in less than 30 minutes. As for what to wear, have your outfits set out the night before, which means you can be dressed in five minutes or less, instead of spending 20 minutes in front of the closet trying to find a shirt that matches your slacks. If you follow these tips, you can shower, do your makeup and hair, and get dressed, all in less than one hour. Morning Routine Trick #3: Eat a Healthy Breakfast: Breakfast really is the most important meal of the day, so don't think you can save time by skipping it. If you're in the habit of rushing out the door without eating, you're ruining your first chance of the day to get energized and rev up your metabolism. If you have time, have a bowl of whole-grain cereal with fresh fruit on top or heat up some instant oatmeal for a quick meal. And if you don't have time to dilly dally in the kitchen, make sure you stock up on your favorite breakfast bar and have it accessible as you walk out the door. Ideally, you should be able to spend under 20 minutes on a healthy breakfast. Morning Routine Trick #4: Got Kids? Delegate: If you're not the only person you have to take care of in the morning, then you definitely have a more complicated situation on your hands. However, it's still possible to nip Monday morning madness in the bud and get everything done and still be on time. If you have kids to get ready and send off to school or daycare, get the important stuff done the night before, such as packing lunches and giving them their bath. Also, keep in mind that kids who are ready for school are also ready to help mom and dad. Give school-age children morning responsibilities, like having them pick out their own outfits, get dressed on their own and brush their teeth without you having to ask them to do it. Another helpful trick is to make sure your kids know to have their backpacks loaded and placed by the front door so they don't have to scramble at the last minute to locate it. Morning Routine Trick #5: Be More Organized: With all the stuff that goes on in the morning, it's really e^sy to get frazzled and forget what you're supposed to be doing and where you're going. Keep appointments and other daily duties on hand in a day planner or palm pilot, whichever is handiest for you to use. Mark important things on your calendar at home and hang it on the wall in a place that you will see it the most, such as the kitchen. Or if you're the type to have a To Do list for everything, make a checklist for your morning routine and go down the list until everything is accomplished.
