WHO I AM (NOTES FROM THE EDITOR)

****************************************************

The April edition of VOYA is on teen writing. VOYA stands
for Voice of Youth Advocates. It's a library magazine
serving those who serve young adults. Your librarian or
principal has a copy.

Ask if you can borrow it. Or check out the website. Some
of the articles have live links.

it takes to write award winning poetry.

Page 20 - "I Got Me Writing Skillz!!!" is a new column
by Elisabeth Wilhelm, a 20-year-old creative writing major
who is also my partner in the Little Owl mentoring program.
She talks about teen lingo and how it works (and doesn't)
online, in school and in real life.

Page 22 - Qiaopan Lucia Tang is a sophomore in high school
who has written a piece about why she writes.

Page 23 - Katherine Clark is a high school senior who writes
about the true meaning of the Pledge of Allegiance.

Page 24 - Hannah Gomez, who has written for WritingKid, is
also a high school senior, and her feature story talks
about "Teens and Zines" on the topic of online ezines.

Page 27 - And then there's my big feature story "Why Johnny
Needs a Writing Mentor." I interviewed lots of students,
parents and teachers about how teens learn how to write.
Then I listed a slew of resources that are great for teens.

This magazine is all about teens reading, enabling them to
read and write, and supporting them through librarians and
schools. A wonderful publication. Check it out online monthly.

What do you think? Any of those comments in my article
touch you? Can you relate to your struggles with writing?
Or do you have a wonderful success story to tell?

WritingKid needs articles from young writers. Contact me
at hope@fundsforwriters.com or chopeclark@gmail.com .
Payment is offered for selected pieces. See details below.
