WHO I AM (NOTES FROM THE EDITOR)

****************************************************

When tragic events occur, people love to talk. Experts
say talking is therapeutic. Some of us, however, do not
like to talk openly about our feelings. That's when we
need to write.

Years ago I went through a difficult time in my life.
I'd come home and write about it. Part of the load lifted
off my shoulders everytime I closed my journal, as if
my pen had channeled the stress onto the paper. I once
wrote an entire novel to express my feelings, and I cannot
describe the light-hearted feeling that came over me as
I typed THE END.

Writing is much like talking things out. It's a release.
I've sat down and written feelings, essays and poetry
before...

 - after 9-11
 - when my children left home
 - when my boss was rude to me
 - when my husband was a sweetheart
 - when I've enjoyed a day outside gardening
 - when I've been mad at someone
 - when I've felt sorry for someone

I'm sure you can add to that list. When you keep a journal
or write a column for the school paper, tap your emotions
and place them in print. You'll relax or at least vent and
take the kinks out of your neck.

What's even better is later, after your emotion is gone.
You'll read your words and see a side of you that you
wouldn't see otherwise. Great material for future writing,
I assure you. Almost like a sneak peak into someone else's mind.

=====

NOTE FROM HOPE...

My prayers to Virginia Tech students and staff. With two
children in college, I cannot imagine the fears of the
parents, or the shock of the students. I wish them peace.

=====

Good luck!!!  And always keep writing.

    Hope

PS
We cover elementary to college teens. Each week we
carry 12 or so opportunities for all ages. Read each
market closely. Some cover a wide range and others
