Hello and welcome to all the new subscribers to this newsletter, just letting you know of an event coming up.

The 41st? Auckland Studio Potters Annual Exhibition will be held from the 7th to 30th July 2005 at the? Mairangi Arts Centre, 20 Hastings Rd, Mairangi Bay, opening on the 6th July from 7pm - 8.30pm.

I imagine most pots will be for sale, and are all made within the last 12 months. So it's all new work. I should be there on the 7th looking around.

Also a few new marks have been added,? there are almost 170 real world marks.

In the news this week: some people are confusing Len Castle??™s mark with Barbara Cunningham??™s mark. There are a few differences you can look for. First, the border around Barbara's mark is oval, where as Len's is mostly squarish. Also the C used is quite different on close inspection. Another feature is the depth of the marks, Barbara's mark is usually quite deeply impressed, where as Len's is more on the shallow side. Ok we are just talking about a mm or? so but there is a difference. Check out all the different LC marks to see what I mean.
